West Coast Recycling Center

This place is super efficient. I was in and out in 5 minutes! I was thrilled to finally find a place with pleasant and helpful employees.

Super easy process (just make sure to enter off Commonwealth) and not too busy. Definitely will go back.

RIP-​OFF. Have coupon posted on their website but refuse to honor it when you get there! Wish I could give negative stars. Will never do business with this company. They give recycling a bad name.

Had a lot of cardboard that we didn’t need any more and wouldn’t be useful enough to keep (completely beat up, tears/​rips everywhere, flimsy, etc.). Looked into our area that would accept cardboard for recycling, and found this place. Didn’t see any recent reviews, but we decided to try it out, anyways.
Drove over. There’s only one entrance and one exit and, unfortunately, not too much parking. Maybe around 8 parking spaces? You park, you place your items based on the bins (there are signs all over the place), you drag the bins over to the measuring station, you get it measured, and you get a small receipt to go to the cashier with to cash out the receipt. On a Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t too busy. Stood in line for maybe around 8 to 10 minutes. We didn’t bother with getting the cash off of the cardboard (yes, you CAN get money off of the cardboard!), as we were happy enough to just recycle the items and be on our way.
Pretty organized place, and they do have a system down pat. Will probably be back if we have a lot of stuff to recycle.

If you want to go to a place that is less busy and clean, go here. But if you want more money, you need to go somewhere else…

Help the Earth, Recycle!
They recycle everything here. You name it, they’ll take it. Not only aluminum cans and plastic water jugs, but paper, cardboard, metal, anything.
The workers are very very helpful.
If you’re like me, I wait until I have 4 or 5 jumbo trash bag full of recyclables until I go. You’ll know why when you get there.
After you park, get a couple of those metal containers they have (that’s for aluminum cans and plastic). If you have glass, get the blue plastic trash can.
Sort your recyclables in each container. When you’re done, go to the scale area.
If you’re like me and a newby, they will look through your containers and look for the different categories of plastic and sort it out for you. Like I said great service.
After they weight everything, they will hand you a ticket with the itemized detail of your recyclables and the amount. Go to the cashier and get your money.
It’s easy and fast. If you have bulk items, this is definitely the place for you.

I recycle here!
It’s a better center when you have bulk to recycle, more than 50 of each type (glass, plastic, aluminum), so then you can get paid by the lb. They always have coupons available on their site so you can get a little more than what recycling offers — the only bummer of it is that you gotta print it out… but, you can also bring in your bulk paper (by the lb) instead of shredding and tossing it.
The most that I’ve received here is about $ 16 after filling my car up with lbs and lbs of glass and plastic (mainly) with 1 or 2 lbs of aluminum. I didn’t have a coupon then but I didn’t mind. The least that I’ve gotten here is around $ 6 — where the majority of my bulk was plastic.
If you have less than 50 counts of plastic, glass, and aluminum, I think you’d be better off (savings-​wise) going to a rePlanet and asking them to manually count your inventory. It will take time and require you to wait in line or wait for them to open, but either way, time is money and money is time. Either way, you get charged by piece, not by weight, at rePlanet whereas West Coast Recycling charges by weight (bulk). Just a tip!

I’ve been taking my used glass, aluminum cans and old paper to West Coast Recycling Center for about one year now. The employees are always super friendly and helpful.
Case and point…
This past Saturday I took a trunk full of old newspapers, probably 50 pounds or more plus a few stray cans and bottles to the center.
One of the employees upon seeing us pull up immediately walked over and offered me several bins to separate the recyclables from each other. Then he helped me sort the stuff out. This isn’t unusual either. The people regularly help if it looks like you need it. Maybe I just look like an old man now. They don’t want to see me hurt myself lifting heavy objects?
Anyhow, after the goods were sorted, I walked over to the weighing station and handed the attendant my coupon. Wife always finds a coupon for this place. I don’t know where. She just does. Anyway, you get more money with the coupon.
The lady there did her job pleasantly, weighing the bins and handed me my receipt — and the coupon. Wrong place. I’m supposed to give the coupon to the cashier. Doh!
Finally, I walked over to the cashier with my receipt and coupon.
Receipt says they owe me $ 1.55
I hand the receipt and the coupon to the friendly lady behind the mirrored, bullet proof glass. I sign something, then I get back… wait for it… wait for it… wait for it…
$ 1.56
Good service. Good location. Good as it gets. Woohoo!
