Love this place and their staff. Went there for the first time and they treated my dog like they’ve known her for years. I have had Bailey at three other Vets in one week because she had been holding her left leg up while walking and I would have to carry her around when ever she had to move some. I was referred by a friend to go here and after one treatment from Dr. Grimes, Bailey was able to walk/​limp out of the the office when we picked her up. The next day she was able to get up and get around by herself. It was amazing to us what one visit here made. Dr. Grimes knew exactly what to do. This is Bailey’s new vet and I would recommend this place to anyone.

A few weeks ago I had the unfortunate experience of putting down my beloved 8 year old dog. After running tests and constant debating we determined that we were not going to put him through miserable treatment for years on end. The staff at sunnycrest made us all feel comfortable and they were the most compassionate and kind vet techs. We received a card for jojo shortly after with a handwritten letter. I cried and cried because I knew that we made the right decision and I was relieved that the staff was so accommodating to us. Thank you for helping my family through such a difficult time sunnycrest, I know that Jojo felt loved and relaxed in his final moments. You helped us immensely through that process and we will never be able to thank you enough. I don’t remember our the three girls names who were in the room with JoJo and us, but please please show this to them. The name is under Ira or Stacy wilinken. Thank you.

We love Sunnycrest! They helped accommodate our needs since we were leaving last minute to see my family! They also gave our Joey a physical to make sure he was healthy before staying with them. We got him neutered and an extra shot. I wish we lived closer to use this hospital more.

I underestimated how much lead time I would need to book my dog at her regular boarding facility (Petsmart in Whittier) and by the time I booked, this was literally the only place within 50 miles that had an opening. Now I see why.
Check in went fairly smoothly, however they said she needed her bordatella within 6 months, not a year like every other facility. Hers was 7 months old so they said they would need to do an exam and charge me for the shot. Fine, whatever, I chalked it up the price of waiting too long to book.
I ask the person at the desk what sort of exercise she will be getting and was told she was allowed two 15 minute sessions of «running up and down the aisles of the kennel». Again, not happy, but what could I do?
The next day I get a call that my dog had an instance of diarrhea and they had to give her medication for it. I cant imagine why they would give medication for a single instance of diarrhea, other than the fact that its a hidden charge for having to clean it up.
When I came to pick her up on Monday (I tried on Sunday but they are closed. don’t bother coming home early.) I was shown the bill and pretty outraged. They didn’t give her one pill, they sold me a whole bottle of pills and gave her one (they charged something like $ 30 just to give her the pill) then gave me this giant bottle of unused pills to take home (gee thanks).
When all was said and done between their bogus bordatella exam, lack of exercise or attention, and the ridiculous prescription policy, it felt like I was getting nickle and dimed anywhere they could, and it sure added up. They were TWICE the price of Petsmart, where my dog gets to play with other dogs all day long and got one-​on-​one time twice a day, and magically never needed extra medication, coming home healthy and happy. When I picked her up from Sunnycrest, she was desperate to get out of that place, picking her up from Petsmart is like getting a toddler to leave a candy store.
ON TOP of all this, a day or two after getting home, she comes down with kennel cough (even though she’s fully vaccinated). She has never had this in all the many times and other places I’ve ever boarded her, so I can only assume that they are overcrowded, have bad ventilation, or allow sick animals to be boarded with healthy ones.
If you love your animal, book early and spare yourself the guilt of leaving them here.

I can’t say enough great things about this place our their employees.
First I’ll start by saying recently I had to have my 20yr old cat put down and the entire staff and Dr. Grimes were so sympathetic and kind.
Dr. Jim Grimes even took the time to send me a hand written sympathy card, who does that anymore?
The staff are always very helpful and friendly and I wouldn’t ever take my pets anywhere else.

This has been the vet I went to the longest for my chihuahua. The vet techs and doctors are awesome here! They are friendly, helpful, and most importantly, passionate about what they do. They care for the animals which is always a great characteristic for a vet! The only reason why I moved hospitals was because this place tends to be a little over priced but never had any issues with anything else.

My intention is to give this place zero stars.
it was a Saturday morning and I needed a place for my two dogs to stay for a day. I called prior to coming in and no one explained anything to us. They made it seem like I just come in and board the dogs without any hassle. Well, no that was not the case. Coming here was perhaps one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. I arrived inside the center with my two dogs, and one of them started barking. Its typically normal for a dog to park when they see another dog. The lady at the front counter rudely said can you take that dog outside. And I just looked at her and «responded excuse me?» I was confused. And then she said again «you need to take your dog outside». So I had my brother take her out. As I started filling out paper work the same lady says «you guys are way late just so you know». And I said I’m sorry we didn’t know you closed early this early. (if they had mentioned that, I would have known). So I finished the paper work and I think my dogs are set to go. No, she asked how many times do they eat a day and if their food was distributed into each individual bag. I said NO, they only told us to separate the food a bag for each dog so I did that. I set two bags. I go outside to ask my brother what we want to do because they wouldn’t see us without the food being separated. The lady comes out and says well what do you guys want to do were going to be closing. I responded can you wait a minute. And she goes inside. I go in and I see two people just staring at my dogs and I heard one of them say «we’ll just throw them in the bottom kennel». After hearing that I was NOT about to leave my dogs there, even if I had a choice. Which I didn’t because of the whole food situation. This place seriously needs to get it together and look at their staff. That lady was beyond disrespectful and had the worst attitude ever. ATTENTION UnilocalERS LEAVE YOUR PETS HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I tried to drop my dog off for boarding for a few hours so I could attend my mother’s funeral (she was also a customer here.) We brought all of my dogs records to indicate that she was up to date on her shots. The goal was to leave the dog here so we wouldn’t have to worry about her. My family has been coming here for 20+ years and I didn’t anticipate any problems. We arrive with all the paperwork as requested. After reviewing the paperwork they inform us that the dog will have to have all the vaccines again and it will cost us over $ 120 to leave her there for a few hours. When asked why they didn’t accept the vaccines that she already had they said they couldn’t be sure they were administered properly. Thanks alot for making a bad day even worse. We will never be back as they clearly only care about making a few dollars instead of actually helping their customers.

I’ve been coming here for years and haven’t been in in a few months with my girl. When I got an email reminder she needed her shots I made an appointment ASAP with them like I always do.
I have to say I’m highly disappointed with the new staff they have hired on. In particular a tall white girl in the front with blonde hair and glasses.
I walked in and was ignored by her for at least ten minutes. She finally turns and asks me, have you been helped? Um no because you’ve had your back turned towards me for 10 minutes. I was so annoyed by their customer service. I’m used to being welcomed with a big hello and them coming from behind the counter to great and pet my dog whom they all knew.
I also made an appointment for 11:15 and it’s currently 11:30 and I still haven’t been called. What’s the point of the appointment?
I’m going to really debate whether or not I will continue coming here like I have been for 12 years or if I will take my business elsewhere where I will actually feel welcomed by the staff.

Dr. Dicky is a wonderful man. He’s always very nice and helpful and knows exactly how to help my kitty. She’s extremely healthy now thanks to him! I love this place, wouldn’t go anywhere else. Not to mention the cleanliness is amazing!

Would give zero stars. Actually, I’m okay with ONE star for the location.
TL;DR: Phone etiquette and good customer service would have gained you a lifelong customer.
This place is RUDE. I just got off the phone with someone named Erin.
I initially asked her if she had prices on a puppy package. You know, the ones that puppies are recommended to get… the 3-​sets. She informed me that they had no such bundle package (which was okay with me), so I asked her the estimate would be on the BASIC shots every puppy is recommended to receive — since they give vaccines.
She started talking to me with sass that they had no package (which I understood the 1^st time she said it 15 seconds after and the 2^nd time 30 seconds after). I told her she told me that already, and would like the prices on the vaccines that are related to the 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd round of shots. Just an estimate would have been fine with me.
She tells me that the puppy would have to see the doctor ($ 50 to see the doctor) to determine which shots my puppy would need. SOOOOOOOOO if my puppy doesn’t have this illness, she doesnt need this vaccination? Getting vaccinated are preventative steps.
I mean, c’mon. Even HUMAN babies go in however often to get their basic vaccines.
So I asked her if she can just add up the prices for me, and like i said before, an estimate would have been fine. When she basically implied that she is incapable of picking up a calculator and estimating a price for me, I just asked her for the prices of each individual vaccine. Since she can’t do her job, I could add it up myself.

After she quickly named 3 out of how xx vaccines a puppy is recommended to have, she hung up on me.

Hello everyone, my handsome 14 year old cat Max passed away today. I just wanted to let everyone know that the staff here was nice and dr grimes is a realist and will let you know what is happening as well as what you need to do, giving various options.
I would like to thank the staff for being so kind despite the air conditioning being broken, it was a little warm in the entire building today and I’m glad I didn’t feel any tempers. Haha.
Anyways, best of luck to all your beloved animals!

Nice clean place. Friendly and attentive.

I called sunnycrest today to see if they could fit my dog in last minute since she was in a lot of pain. They were fully booked but squeezed me in at the end of the day. The wait was a little long but I can’t complain one bit because they got me in same day with no apt.
The vet was super nice and got straight to the point with what my girl needed and was able to give her first dose at our visit since my dog was so uncomfortable.
I also must have been having sympathy pains for my dog because I almost passed out. Super embarrassing however they helped me out too and grabbed me a water and some snacks from the back to help.
I really like this vet and my dog and I will be a returning customers.

I came to Sunnycrest because the vet I usually go to was on vacation, and their office recommended that I come here. My dog had been bitten by another dog and had a laceration on his back so I wanted to get it taken care of ASAP. It was less than an hour until the office closed, so I asked the staff at the front if the vet would be able to get to him today. Their response was that I would have to pay an initial exam fee and talk to the vet. I explained how I did not want to pay for an initial exam only to have the vet tell me that they could not get to him that day. Then I would end up taking him to another facility and paying another initial exam fee. Can the vet just tell me whether or not my dog needs surgery right away or can it wait until the morning? Their answer was, «well you have to pay the fee then».
In this day and age, I understand that a business needs to make money and that face time with a vet is valuable time. But my question was one of scheduling more than anything else. Common sense is thrown out the window and the staff in the front are given a set of rigid directives that really go against the concept of good customer service. They did give me the name of an emergency vet that I could go to, but that was not an option since that place has a 2.5 star rating.
At this point I was exasperated and tried reasoning again. It doesn’t make sense for me to wait to see a vet, pay an exam fee, and then have him/​her tell me that they can’t do it today. That is purely a scheduling thing that they should be able to ask the vet. Again, I was given the response that I would need to see the vet and pay a consultation fee to get this info. My dog does not have some mystery disease. It is very clear that he needs to be stitched up under general anesthesia. I don’t mind paying a fee if you can’t get to him today and then I can board him for the surgery to be done in the morning. Again, the response was, «you need to pay the fee».
I can’t help that a particular staff member treated me poorly because he felt that I was being a cheapskate. He had no clue that if I wait for their vet, have them tell me they can’t do it today, then I enter into after hours designation at other clinics, thus tripling my cost. My wife and I spend over $ 3000 per year in boarding costs for our dogs alone. Add teeth cleaning, shots, etc and our budget for pet care yearly is over $ 5000. Paying $ 60 for an exam fee is not an issue of money for us. It just has to make sense. I have had visits at human doctor’s offices where they provide the courtesy of contact without doing an exam and charging. It is only a minute or two of their time. I could not help but feel that I was being nickel and dimed here and frankly don’t want to patronize any place that values chump change over good service.
Absolutely livid at this point, I was going to give a one star review, but wanted to give them a final chance. Can you do anesthesia based surgery tonight? Answer was no. Can I board my dog until the vet can see them in the morning? Answer was that they need to have all vaccinations in the record before boarding. Okay. I finally have my answer. We could have avoided all of this back and forth.
I am sure that the vets here are great and do a nice job. I am writing this review in hopes that the owner of the business reads this and revises their policy of pay first then you can see the vet. Just a minute or two of thoughtfulness can go a long way. The initial customer contact and how you treat them is so important as you will never get the opportunity to rectify a bad first impression.

My dog got into my roommate’s grapes today, eating enough of them to thrust me into a panic and call the closest animal care center I could find. The first animal clinic I called not only gave me inaccurate instructions to induce my dog to vomit, they rudely told me they were too booked to squeeze my pet in… yet still suggested I really should get help for her as soon as possible to avoid any permanent damage.
I called Sunnycrest next, and was relieved to be told they would be able to see my dog as soon as I could get over to their clinic. She was seen right away without any wait, and was treated with care and kindness from the staff. In about 15 minutes time from arrival, she was ready to go home with me, was 11 grapes lighter, and in good spirits. Dr. Nunez was both friendly and knowledgeable, reassuring me that my best friend would be just fine.

Today I had to put down my cat.
In my life, I’ve had to put down 2 dogs and a cat, and today having to put down my 4^th pet, due to cancer, was not any easier.
Dr. Grimes and his staff tried their best for my cat, but ultimately his health was declining.
Dr. Grimes didn’t try to sugar coat the news, nor did he try to sell me cancer treatment for my 13 year old cat. He gave me options including his advise to keep him comfortable and spend quality time with him until he turned for the worst.
The staff never tried to sway me into extending the cat’s life with drugs, nor did they sway me into euthenization. They let me decide.
My choice was to be a selfless pet owner and prolonging my cat to live longer, maybe even in pain was not worth it. Today I said goodbye and it was not any easier than the first 3 pets.
In the beginning, cost may be a factor when a person goes about in choosing a vet. In the end, treating the patient with humanity and dignity is why I respect this vet.

So grateful to Dr. Glassberg for saving my senior chihuahua’s life. Thought I was going to have to put him down. This was over 3 years ago. Now I drive over 15 miles because no other vet will do.

Boarded my cat there for aprox 4 nites-​also got her shots before boarding. Made it very clear to only feed wet food. My friend pick up my cat and notices she’s not the same-​she gets worried and goes back next day to talk to staff-​she looks in chart and sees they were feeding dry food. I finally pick up my cat from friend (who took care of her for 2 days) My cat is not the same –something very wrong. I take her back to sunny crest right when they open next day. have to come back for appt an hour later. yep, my cat had a huge abcess where she had her vaccination. I thought it was strange that NO one at the boarding facility noticed anything wrong with her (i.e. not eating, lethargic, etc)…dont the animals get a check-​up when leaving? The staff seemed very nonchalant about the whole thing. Never again…
FYI-​this happened aprox. 1 year ago. just jointed Unilocal –so writing about it today.

I have been coming to Sunnycrest for over 6 years. I love this place and will continue to go there as long as I have pets. I trust them with their lives. The doctors are top-​notch and the staff is wonderful.
As for some comments about price, I’m a little confused. I have always been told how much a procedure or treatment will cost, and on many occasions I have been told whether or not I should even go through with it. For example, when one of my dogs broke most of one of her toenails off, I was told how much it would be to fully remove the toenail, but was also told that trimming it down and using medications would be much less expensive and accomplish the outcome. I like being given options with all possible costs.
The one true sign that this is the place to take your pets is the reaction of my animals. They love to come here. As soon as they see where they are they become really excited. That alone tells me what I need to know.
