I am so glad I found Jila for French lessons!
Jila is a passionate, enthusiastic and engaging native speaker.
I found her on Unilocal because I was looking to learn a little French before going to Paris… And it definitely did not disappoint. She got back to me shortly after my inquiry via email, and scheduled a lesson right away. First lesson was free, and it’s for her to diagnose your learning style, to see what type of teaching suits you the best. I really appreciate that she takes the time to do so. After the first lesson I was like «shut up and take my money!» Sign me up twice a week!!! I forced the hubby to take it with me, and surprisingly he looks forward to the classes too.

Situated in the heart of adorably vibrant Downtown Fullerton, the school offers a beautiful view of the city from its top level suite. The atmosphere is very inviting and peaceful, making it a great setting to learn.
I’ve loved learning new languages since I was able to read, but I know the only way to gain fluency is through communicating with native speakers. The school’s approach is to only provide native instructors and to fully immerse its students in the language. If the language is completely new to you, you may feel a little lost at first, but if you can just practice shutting off your own language, you will catch on in much the same way a child would because you start to associate words with actions and things, as opposed to translations. This really is what sets this school apart.
I have to mention that I consider Jila (the french teacher and school director) a close friend now and she works very hard to ensure that learning doesn’t stop after class. She curates social gatherings for the students of all languages to meet one another and really makes this school a delightful place to learn, practice, and meet some wonderful new friends.

I have been taking both group and private French lessons with Jila for several years now. She is wonderful… kind, patient and knowledgeable! She has raised my level of conversation to a much higher level while continuing to keep the lessons light and fun! Can’t say enough good things about her school…

Portal Languages in Fullerton is an amazing school. My kids took Arabic lessons and I have been taking French lessons with Jila Nava for a year. I did not know any French before and now I can hold a basic conversation. The teachers are great! They treat us like friends and are always willing to accommodate your schedules. I look forward to seeming my teacher every week and love learning with her. I highly recommend this school and this teacher who is also the young owner.

Just had my first class for my child. It was awesome! The teacher keeps them engaged (only two students). Reasonably priced, we will definitely be continuing. Check them out! No matter your age or language of interest, the director will go out of her wa to create a program that works for you.
