Food is okay. Boyfriend and I immediately came here once we moved into the apartments 200 feet away. Service was slow from what I remembered. I’m writing this review hoping the owner will read this. I’ve seen some shady stuff go on around this restaurant before. Once on a late night 2am food run, we turned into the area to pass by to park in our apt designated spot, and we saw a girl and a couple of guys come out of the dark restaurant with alcohol in their hands. Looks like she worked there cause she had a key and was locking up after. Owner needs to start tipping the tow company. People park at this place’s parking lot A TON overnight and although I don’t really care, I do care about people making a ruckus near our apt late at night with one car particularly that frequently has their alarm go off for 10 – 15 minutes.

this place made me love the taste of Sushi. almost all of what’s in the menu is tasty ! However, as usual it would be better if they are open till the midnight.

I’ve usually always done phone orders but for the past couple of days they have not been answering their phone. I’m not sure if they have the right number on their website because it keeps on ringing for minutes.

one time I went. unfixed and dirty bathroom made me wonder. what the kitchen condition would be like? second time I went. the exterior sign was turned off. made the whole restaurant looked as if they were closed. third time I went. there were several customers. this restaurant is a bit confusing to me. based on my dining experience at the restaurant. I don’t understand the good reviews being posted. food: a bit below average service: average atmosphere: a bit below average my advice to the mgmt: the fact that this restaurant is located walking distance to CSUF, they should step up in all aspect of their business such as improvising menu more appealing to college students and environment being more clean. Maru, step up!

I’ve been here a couple of times for lunch and love this place! They have great deals during lunch and are very affordable. The sushi has always been fresh and the service is fast.

I love and hate this place. I LOVELOVELOVE their pork ramen, but I HATE their seating, atmosphere and their service. The ramen is my favorite out of numerous ramen places I’ve tried. This is literally the only reason I go here. Everything else on the menu is mediocre and overpriced, and their service is sub-par. On every visit we found that one of our items that we ordered would take forever and doesn’t arrive to our table until well after we’ve finished eating even if we’re their only customer. It kinda sucks to be full and ready for the check before someone else at your table even gets their food. Once we sat down and the waitress noticed the table was really dirty and covered in food. She offered to wipe it down, left and never wiped it down. We were the only customers at the time so we wound up using our napkins and water to clean the table. The seating and atmosphere seems really uncomfortable and uninviting. Not sure why. Maybe improper lighting or uncomfortable chairs? As much as I love their ramen I don’t think it’s worth coming here anymore.

My first time here for a bday lunch with co worker. This review is for the Tonkatsu Ramen Don’t order this Ramen!!! Its like an instant ramen. OMG!!! Lol. Its doesn’t t have the consistency and the taste of real tonkatsu. If they can’t t get Tonkatsu right. I don’t think their other Ramen will be good. Service is slow. I mean only 1 of her on a busy lunch time. I didn’t t get my roll and then charge us. So not going back here even though they have good sushi.

The place is nice. I was little concerned coming in and seeing nobody. But man as we sat down they where nice to us and very helpful. The rolls where out of this world. A different taste than regular sushi. Must try, will be coming back again…

Came for lunch a Friday and it was packed full of people and there was a line. Was definitely not expecting this because it was a Friday and typically college kids don’t have class on Friday so they would not be having lunch here. Anyways, I decided to go for take out. The girl taking my order was super nice and I could tell she was really busy too because it looked like she was the only waitress. I mentioned that I did not have too long for lunch and she put in my order right away and the kitchen got it out super fast too. So bonus stars for speedy friendly service. I just went for a basic spicy tuna roll and it was pretty good.

The service was fine, but the food not so much. I ordered a sushi/roll combo, and almost every single piece of sushi had an overly fishy taste. The cooked rolls were ok.

2÷6÷15 I came here to have dinner with my family but it was actually one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in a really long time. My mom got extremely upset with their slow service, everyone we would ask for something it was very slow for it come out. We needed a table for 5 but they gave us a table That seated 4, but it was a corner booth so we made it work. But we ordered a lot of food but of course we had no space and it was awful. And when we came in there was only one other table and a few people at the sushi bar and even still, they gave us a tiny table. And despite them only have 1 other table and a few people at the bar their service was ridiculously slow. What really got us upset is how there’s 2 servers and they couldn’t manage 2 tables and a few people at the sushi bar. Our food was served and they didn’t bring us and plates to share and no soy sauce plates!!! We ordered 7 rolls, garlic edamame, seaweed salad, and their salmon skin salad. How are we supposed to share this without plates. And we had to ask for the plates a couple of times because they weren’t bringing it out… and we had our food sitting there but we didn’t want to pick at it without plates. And we also got their maru special roll, and the rice they made it with was undercooked… which is a bummer and because we had 5 people and everyone tried a bit and we agreed the rice was definitely hard. So we called a server over to let them know and her immediate pretentious response was oh you guys ate more than half so there’s not much I can do about it. Like what? We just wanted to let you know the rice on this roll is unedible, we don’t want a new one… We’re definitely 100% not coming back and definitely telling everyone to avoid this establishment. Because the service is awful and their rolls aren’t good enough to come here for since every single roll it was all falling apart, nothing sticked together. Considering how many other great sushi restaurants there are in the Fullerton area you can easily eat at another restaurant that has the same prices and way better quality sushi and way better service. This place was a disappointment

Maru Sushi has the best sushi around this Fullerton are. I always order the«Volcano» sushi when I come here, it is delicous ! I give it 4 stars because the price quite expensive. Lunch time will be slow because there is only one or two chef serving sushi . But after all I still love to come back this place again.

Fist time here, I arrived when there was other person at the sushi bar and two tables taken. Took about 20 mins to get my first order which was Fatty yellow tail, uni, salmon, scallops, albacore belly. 3 mins later I get my hand roll, 2 mins later the Monster roll. Now I don’t know about you, but when you get all your sushi back to back like that, the sushi starts to get warm and the handroll see weed starts to soften. I would prefer to get things little by little. It’s Sushi not Fast food. Service: was great, the waitress kept filling up my hot tea and asked if everything was ok. Food: I orders fatty yellowtail(hamachi), it was not that great, albacore belly usually has a special sauce on it that I didn’t see or taste, Uni was not fresh, it had lost its sweetness to it and had the fridge smell. Further more, they placed some leaves on the plate for décor that was giving a pungent smell. Not sure if it was to cover up the fridge smell or the unfreshness of the sushi but killed it for me. They have two other sister Sushi restaurants,(Sushi Town in Costs Mesa) is the best hands down.

Slow service even though there are three parties in the restaurant. Sashimi bowl came in the middle of the meal after the cooked dishes. The lunch specials were underwhelming and very small portions than what you would expect. Sashimi bowl was filled with fatty, fibrous pieces and wilted brown salad. Based on the 4 star status, I was expecting more.

Definitely a good place to grab lunch. Pick 2 side dishes for only $ 8.50 which includes miso soup, salad, veggie mashed potatoes and scoop of rice. Pretty filling. Follow them on Instagram and you get a FREE Sake shot or Soda! The beef teriyaki with crunch roll was good! You can double up too.

This place s really great. I wish I found it sooner. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. The staff is really nice and they’re great about giving suggestions and taking special orders. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable. It’s small inside, but I don’t think it gets too crowded. I came twice with a group of friends around 5 or 6 pm and the place was almost empty both times except for maybe one or two other people in the whole place. The food is delicious, we all tried different things and were not disappointed with anything that we ordered. The portions are great for the price and there are a lot of sushi and roll options to choose from. #80/100

I came for lunch with a small group and was mostly underwhelmed. We were seated at a table that had just been washed down with disinfectant. The table was still wet when we sat down, and the cleaning product odor persisted for at least 15 minutes. I ordered sushi lunch combination B and can definitely report that I’ve experienced better. The spicy tuna on my plate was extremely salty; one of my buddies ordered the same combination dish and seemed to be especially revolted by the spicy tuna. My green iced tea was obviously made from powder — there was still some powder adhering to my glass when the tea came my way. The miso that came with my sushi was pretty good! I’d describe it as the high point of the lunch.

SLOW! The sushi chef was slow! It’s Sunday and the place had about 10 to 12 people in it for lunch and the food or should I say the sushi was coming out extremely slow. I ordered a tempura udon for my son and it came with an order of California roll. Good thing too, because we was starving. The house salad came first. They were good. I liked the miso vinaigrette and the cherry tomatoes in the salad yum. The udon came next, piping hot! Followed by the tempura(which I request on the side, 2 pcs) and the cal rolls. The broth was very flavorful and the udon was perfectly al dente. The tempura was not crispy and was just okay. I was busy feeding my boy and finally noticed it’s been a while and I haven’t seen my Chirashi bowl(30 minutes). I asked the waitress if they forgot my order and she said it was coming out soon. Then another customer asked the waitress about the roll he ordered. He was with 5 other people and it looked like they all got their food except him. The waitress asked the chef and he said it’s coming(not in a nice way). When the waitress got the man’s roll, she said Chirashi to the chef and he made another snide remark at her. 10 minutes later(40 total) my Chirashi bowl came out(with apologies from the waitress) It was okay. If you’re putting a «fake crab» front and center for this dish, my expectations just went down considerably. If you’re hiding the yellowtail under the radish sprouts because it looked like someone chewed it and the cuts were mangled, my expectations just went down considerably some more. And the rice they used wasn’t sushi rice. Plain cooked rice, SMH. I think you get the gist of my experience and I will stop. Service from the waitress was okay. She did try to get my food out and got yelled at in the process, not her fault. Price: a bit on the high side for sushi, but they had some lunch specials that were reasonable. I understand it’s a one sushi chef operation, but waiting 40 minutes for ten pieces of fish served on a bed of plain rice was not good. Being rude to the waitress for reminding you that the customers have been waiting a long time for their food is not acceptable in my book. 2015 Review #109
