Established in 1923.

Dr. Mike Lenhardt is the newest doctor in a practice long known for patient satisfaction. He is the current torchbearer folowing in the footsteps of Dr. Hoang, Dr. Lovcik, Dr. McClellen Jr. and his father Dr. Geo McClellan.

Office History:

1923 Stated in Hariss’ Drugstore corner of Harbor and Amerage

1925 the practice was moved to the upstairs of the Chapman bldg. in downtown Fullerton

1956 Dr McClellan Jr. began working in the practice

1975 Dr McClellan Sr. Retires

2000 Dr. McClellan Jr retires

2006 Dr. Mike Lenhardt comes to the practice to serve the needs of Fullertonian eyes.

Dr. Mike Lenhardt loves working with people and has diverse experience in the optometric field. He truly enjoys working with patients and listening to their visual needs. He is friendly and outgoing, enjoying work with infants all the way to up to senior citizens. Dr. Mike also enjoys educating the patients about the health of their eyes. His desire is for Lenhardt Optometric Group to enhance the vision of patients and the community as a whole. Dr. Mike is proud to offer the best solution to the needs of his patients.

Above average eye doctor. Doctor is patient, and appears to love his job. He has a positive attitude. His medical system is organized. Not sure how many years he has been licensed but his office seems fairly busy. I spent close to 2 hours here for first appointment w him. By the way the office is pretty small.
Not a lot of choices for eye frames for purchase. Below average in this regard. Some dust on glasses and stale. No one was there to assist. It is like a come and go thing. I guess the positive side of that there are no pushy sales person. Which is more important to me.
Odd thing is that the walls are paper thin. I could hear the doctor talking to his patient in the exam room. That needs to be improved for privacy reasons.
There is a lot of staff around here and there. I think they are staff since they are near or at the computer aka access to my medical records. But Desiree is the office manager but also did my eye field test, glaucoma oip test and some other test I forget, she also took my payment, gave me my rx prescription for my lenses. Hmmm

I’m literally typing this while sitting in the waiting room in preparation to pick out my lenses.
This place is excellent. I was blown away by Dr Mike and the entire staff.
I recommend this place for anyone looking for a good optometrist.
I’ll add another post as soon as I receive my glasses.

This was the first optometrist I visited when I received my own insurance as «an adult.» I was completely clueless with insurance & the process of getting glasses. The staff was extremely informative & friendly. I have been coming here for over 2 years for glasses & now contacts. I’ve even brought my fiancé along for his check ups & contact prescriptions. Even after we moved out of Fullerton we will continue to come because of the amazing customer service!

Everything about this place is a 10. (Or 5 star I guess). I had an appointment, but got a phone call an hour in advance telling me they were about 15 minutes behind and they didn’t want me to have to wait. What dr office in any field has ever done this? Besides this, the staff was extremely knowledgeable and informative. And they were all so friendly! Can’t go wrong here!

Everyone here loves their job and love interacting with all the patients who pass through. They made me feel so relaxed and comfortable and helped me pick out the PERFECT glasses. Everything was done quickly and comfortably, from scheduling my appointment to my initial exam to my contact lenses exam to fitting my new frames. Real cool place, I would recommend it to everyone.

I’m glad my insurance changed since it made me come here. My Co-​worker recommended Lenhardt and I’m also happy she did. The staff is very helpful and all cheerful. They all took the time to go over everything and answer all questions that I had. Dr. Mike was amazing and down to earth. We moved away this year and still drive to Fullerton to see Dr. Lenhardt. His entire team is outstanding. We recommend him without reservation. One of the top medical experiences that you’ll ever have. We have watched them with kids and the elderly, they don’t miss a beat. We feel so blessed to have stumbled upon this office.

Dr Mike & his «group» are the best! Everyone there is helpful & knowledgable. They will not settle for a patient to leave their office without knowing they have done their best and met all their eye needs. My eyes have been though a lot, they are not easy to care for, but as difficult as they are, Dr Mike, Tanya, Anne, everyone sees to it I can see my best.
Both Desiree & Audrey help out my need for penny pinching as they check out the best options for both my insurance covered & out of pocket expenses. Dr Mike has even authorized some price matching a time or two. They value me as a patient & always have.
I will not put my eyes in the care of anyone else than the pleasant and personable professionals at Lenhart optometric Group in Fullerton!

Giving 4 solid stars for Dr. Mike as he is awesome as our Eye Doctor! You maybe wonder «Why only 4? why not 5?» Well, because 5 is over selling Doctor Mike and makes It look bad. I dont want to make my review look like im over selling his Practice and I want people to have a positive look at my experience and honest opinion as a patient of Doctor Mike.
He is very down-​to-​earth, Very practical, & gives you as much info as he can to good eye health. My hubby went to Dr. Mike for his first time and they both really hit it off well. I was very pleased with both of our exams. We dont live as close as we use to to Dr. Mike but we make the extra miles as we have grown very fond of Dr. Mike and his staff taking excellent care of our needs. We are looking forward to our next visit when the time comes and enjoy the atmosphere they have. THANK YOU DOCTOR MIKE!

Best experience I’ve had at an optometrist! I came in as soon as they opened on a Saturday because I had no appointment and wanted to see if they could find time to fit me in. Lucky enough a 9am appointment canceled and they were able to see me. All the staff (esp.Tanya) were super helpful. She was quick with service but very thorough. All my questions were answered without me ever even asking them!
Now I’ll be on my trial contact lenses for the next week. I will def come back here for my glasses and other future eye check ups!

This review is way overdue. It is no wonder they have 5 STARS! All of the staff are SUPERSTARS.
Desiree, Anne and Tanya are amazing staff for Dr. Mike and truly make your visit enjoyable and stress free. From every time I called to every in person visit I was treated with respect and timeliness. They help you in anyway that they can and always get back to you if there’s anything pending.
Dr. Mike is absolutely amazing and has definitely found his calling in life. I went through laser eye surgery through an outside company and the post recovery was horrendous but Dr. Mike and staff came to my rescue. He helped me go from eye drops every 5 minutes to not needing eye drops at all. My eyes healed beautifully and I no longer have the dry eye issue.
I also buy their omega capsules that they sell at the front desk. I researched the manufacturer online and they are amazing quality and really add beneficial nutrients for the health of your eyes.
I cannot express enough how awesome Dr. Mike and his staff are. I trust them endlessly and recommend them perpetually. Thank you Lenhardt Optometry!

Fabalious experience! Entire process from making my appointment to the exam and then the fitting was smooth and easy! I felt with a total of 4 people and each one was courteous and professional … Felt like the Nordstrom of optometry bit more reasonably priced. I came back a week later & they repaired my broken sunglasses (purchased elsewhere) so quickly for about half of what the manufacturer quoted me & they had a 6 week turnaround … This place has my business for life!

I found Lenhardt Optometric group through a Groupon deal over 2 – 3 years ago and I still plan to keep seeing Dr. Mike as my optometrist. It’s pretty tough out there looking for an affordable optometrist that understands how hard it is for people to receive health benefits and I am truly grateful to have the office serve me with great patient service. The staff makes my visit always enjoyable. I love the whole staff there. Tanya and Desiree for always recognizing my voice and name over the phone and greeting me with happy voices. They are super silly! hahaha and Anne for always readjusting my frames because I always end of sleeping on them… They have a wide variety of frames so I try to avoid going into the office because I know I would end up picking out new frames when I have 3 – 5 pairs of glasses at home already! I’m due for another annual eye exam soon, so I’m pretty sure new spectacles will be chosen during that time.:) thanks again.
