I made an appointment for my first visit with Dr. Hodge 3 weeks in advance. My appointment was for 4:00 but they asked that I show up at 3:50. I got there at 3:45; while waiting several other patients arrived. Time passed and 3 of the patients who arrived after I did were called in to the back. After more than 35 minutes of waiting, I told the receptionist that I was leaving. My review is not about Dr. Hodge as I didn’t get to see her but rather towards the staff. It was a horrible first impression and unfortunately I won’t be back.

I was referred to Dr. Hodge by a friend, and unfortunately my experience with the front office staff was disappointing and frustrating. When I made the appointment, I was told to check with my insurance carrier to make sure that Dr. Hodge was on the plan, which I did online and printed it out. I then called back that day to confirm if that was enough and was reassured by the same staff that I’m all set. I waited a month for the first available appointment and guess what? First the front staff did not greet me when I walked in(the reception area was empty at the time), and then the staff called my insurance and told me that Dr. Hodge was not a provider. I showed her the printout and after calling again and being told that Dr. Hodge is not on my plan, the staff proceeded to tell me that if I want to see the doc, I would need to pay out-of-pocket. No apologies for wasting everyone’s time. I am sure Dr. Hodge is a fine physician, but the front staff was cold, unprofessional and unfortunately, reflected poorly on the Doctor and her office. Hope this helps and thank you for reading.

I’ve been to Dr. Hodge a total of 4 times at this point and while I don’t have anything outrageous to report, I do have to agree with the comments about her office staff. I scheduled 6 weeks before because that was the only time they could get me in– and I ended up waiting for 45 minutes. 45 minutes without any acknowledgement from the staff or the doctor. No apologies– nothing. I have a great deal of customer service experience and while I know healthcare isn’t the traditional service situation, I personally feel it’s more important to ensure people leave a doctor’s office feeling taken care of and as though someone actually cares. I think this is really missing in healthcare and feel that this is where this office is lacking. Wouldn’t it be nice to feel as though your doctor is invested in you and actually cares about your health? If this is what you’re searching for, this is not the office for you. I will say however, Dr. Hodge is professional and effective as a dermatologist– but has an old school philosophy. If you’re looking for someone to get the job done– Dr. Hodge will do. The office staff unfortunately has a lot to learn in basic customer service skills and friendliness. It’s unfortunate that the support staff can reflect so poorly on the entire office.

Amazing! I had a bad experience with another dermatologist recently and was referred highly to Dr. Hodge by a physician friend. Her bedside manner was excellent, her surgery skills were amazing, and I was able to get some advice on some of the cosmetic procedures and questions I was seeking. She was extremely knowledgeable. I look forward to both having her as my practitioner for all future services as well as recommending her to my friends and family. Thank you, Dr. Hodge, for your excellence.

Dr. Hodge responded to my concerns in a warm, professional and respectful way. She reached out to me personally and resolved any problems. I am impressed with her response and so are the people who knew about this. Her response confirmed my opinion of her character and professional ethics.

Very frustrated with this office. Called to make an appointment to have a cyst removed. Asked when making the appt if it will get removed that day. Office clerk confirmed. When they called to confirm my appointment, they also confirmed that it would be done today. After waiting ONEHOUR in the waiting room, the doctor looked at it for 30 seconds and said I had to schedule a separate appointment for surgery because it takes ½ hour. Very frustrating and very unorganized office.

Dr. Hodge has been treating my family for over 20 years. At that time I was being treated by a Dr. that folded into the mainstream, but Dr. Hodge chose to go it alone and set up shop on her own to treat patients instead of the masses. It has been over 10 years ago and I have had nothing but excellent treatment since. 8 months ago Dr. Hodge discovered melanoma on my nose, which required some invasive treatment. Prior to the procedure, she fully explained the process would take some time and before I knew it, the procedure was over and I was on my way home. Safe to say, my wait time to see the good Dr. has been around 10 minutes before being called into my room by an effervescent staff. They always greet me with a warm smile and get right to it, when I am seated in the room. The staff member went over my history and asked the pertinent questions just prior to Dr. Hodge’s arrival. When Dr. Hodge enters the room, there is normally a staff member accompanying to attend to any small details required. April has always been very pleasant to deal with and answers my billing questions in a polite and professional manner. During the time I have been seeing Dr. Hodge as a patient, never once have I heard a cross word spoken by any member of the staff. In fact, Terry greets me and every person I have seen walk through the door with a warm and caring smile. To think that I would consider another dermatologist would be unthinkable. Not only have I referred friends to Dr. Julie Hodge, I would not think of changing dermatologists now or in the future. Guess you could say I have Skin in the Game!!! :)

Dr. Julie Hodge and her staff are caring, compassionate and competent. I have been a patient for over nine years. Dr. Hodge is very friendly and is an excellent communicator. When she performs the procedure she does an excellent job of communicating what to expect prior to the procedure and in addition is very patient explaining each step during the process. I strongly recommend Dr. Hodge.

Dr. Hodge seems like a very nice woman but the overall experience I had at her office was less than disappointing. First off, the entire office of nurses and staff are unfriendly and not very welcoming. Her laser treatment is okay. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are trying to remove your hairs, especially since it’s about $ 200 a session. Lastly, her acne treatment doesn’t work. I bought a bottle for my cousin and after a month there was absolutely no improvement. I didn’t have one good experience with Dr. Hodge and I will not be returning to her office.

I came here because my whole family has had various skin issues which have been addressed. My own minor issues were set aside as Dr Hodge took notice to some potential skin cancers. Dr Hodge seems focused on the most important health issues first and foremost. I really appreciate her judgement and expertise. I definitely would recommend her to anyone who cares about their health and family’s health. The knowledgeable staff is always friendly and helpful.

They are closed from 12 – 1:30 pm. If you didn’t know that and you arrived early like at 12:30 or 1 pm then you’re sitting around waiting. No sign on the door to let you know either. Looks simple from the outside but its actually a nice office inside and surprisingly busy. They kind of are slow to get to you or maybe they were running behind. I had a 1:30 appointment and didn’t get looked at until close to 2:00 pm. Also, the Doctor is nice but after a minute or two its obvious she wants to get out of there. I asked a few questions which she answered but I felt like I was holding her back from something else… again perhaps because she was running behind. She prescribed something that might be actually working for me… not 100% but initial results seem positive.

How do you rate a Medical Doctor? Hey I am still living! Yeah! 5 Star??? Well Dr. Hodge has been my dermatologist for almost a decade. And for the last decade or so, she has kept my skin relatively clear of acne. Although there has been some turnover with the nurses, the front desk staff are still the original members and I think that speaks volumes about how Dr. Hodge runs her business. All are extremely nice, helpful and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a Derm in Fullerton, this is the place. R
