John U. Choi, DDS, PhD is a periodontist and scientist practicing the full scope of modern periodontics with particular emphasis on prevention and treatment of gum disease, dental implant surgery, oral plastic and reconstructive surgery, regenerative surgery, oral medicine and oral pathology.

As one of the more educationally qualified periodontists in Orange County and with over 20 years of experience, our patients are referred to us internationally, nationally and locally by their doctors and friends. And with readily available online information, patients are increasingly self referring themselves to our office.

Our specific aims are: to provide the highest level of care in a patient centered environment; to develop rational treatment plans in context of risk/​cost versus benefit, in order to find the right amount of treatment for the patient at this given time; and to collaborate with the very best specialists and general practitioners to achieve excellent long term results.

History

Established in 1994.

Dr. Choi received his DDS from USC School of Dentistry in 1990 and immediately entered a six year combined program as a Resident in Advanced Periodontics and a Graduate PhD student in Biochemistry and Craniofacial Biology; he was the first at USC to do both of those programs concurrently. His post-​graduate training was fully supported by an NIH Individual Dentist Scientist Award, selected as the first West-​Coast recipient from nation-​wide competition. He has been a periodontist since 1994 and has practiced in Fullerton, CA since 1996. Additionally, Dr. Choi was a full-​time faculty member at USC School of Dentistry from 1990 – 1996.
