Herb’s Volvo MBZ

I was coming here for several years without any complaints other than the dings and scratches (minor for a 6yr old car) and was super happy with the service. Not now…
Sadly after spending the $ 7k + at Herbs ¹¹⁄₂₀₁₃ to fix a few issues (100k tune up, strut, front brakes, new tires $ 800, cosmetic work) it came back in worse condition.
They didnt put my strut back on properly after putting on the new tires and now there is a metal grinding in the right front wheel well. Had to take it somewhere else to get it fixed because I lost faith in them. Keep reading, you will see why.
5 months later I was having trouble with the feel of the car and felt maybe I was ripped off, so I took it to Rose Auto who is well known to do honest and has great prices for repairs (I didn’t want to go there because I was loyal to Herb’s and had no real trouble in the past). Rose Auto told me the strut was not put back on correctly. I replaced the front brakes at Herb’s, but due to all the costs, decided to wait a few month to do the back brakes. Rose Auto told me they did not need to be replaced. It’d now 8months later and my brakes are fine. So Herb’s tried to deceive me.
Herb’s didn’t secure the moldings around the windshield after replacing it and now it leaks. Plus they broke some of the tabs that hold the frame around the windshield so it flaps and bangs when I go on the freeway.
Further, I can’t even take it back to have them fix it because every time I take it in, it comes back with more digs and scratches. Once the scratch was so bad I told them about it, and they tried in horrible attempt to fix it. Now there is a long deep scratch there and it just looks buffed over, not buffed out and repainted.
And and and… I am greatly disappointed and will never go back, especially aft paying so much money. My car is regularly serviced and well taken care of. They have all but ruined it. And the car wasn’t even worth what I paid to fix it, I just didn’t want to give it up because it was in great shape for its age.
There are too many other good repair places in OC to go back to these people who do not treat you or your vehicle with respect.
Oh and forget their routine of showing you your parts after they do repairs, that was BS. And I had no way to know if they were my parts. But for sure Rose Auto said they didn’t replace a part they said they had (sorry can’t remember what that was after all the other stuff above). Good luck people!

Took my Volvo here recently, just moved to the area, and I will be back! Judy, the office manager is exceptional. She makes sure your car is taken care of, on time, and has a great and experienced staff. I would highly recommend this shop! Thanks again!

If you don’t want to pay for the same repair twice in 4 months time don’t go to Herb’s Volvo in Fullerton.
Overcharging, incompetent installation and unreliable parts suppliers seem to be the hallmarks that make up Herb’s Volvo in Fullerton.
On 7÷14÷14 I picked up my 2004 Volvo S60 from Herb’s. As an 8-​year customer I didn’t question Herb’s when Herb’s said I needed a new or rebuilt Turbo for my car. $ 1,600 later I had my new Turbo and the piece of mind that my car had been repaired correctly by Herb’s once again. Four months later I noticed something wrong with my car. On a recommendation, I went to the Fullerton Auto Clinic. The Fullerton Auto Clinic showed me where my rebuilt Turbo was leaking and said it had to be replaced or rebuilt. I took my car back to Herb’s. Herb’s mechanic told me that the Turbo was fine but that the Oil Trap had to be replaced at a cost of $ 785. (It seems that Herb’s does not replace the Oil Trap when it replaces a Turbo). When I brought up the fact that the Turbo was leaking, I was told it was not and that Herb’s would not give me a deal on either parts or service to replace the leaky Turbo installed by Herb’s only 4 months ago. Herb’s has a 90 day warranty on all parts and labor and wouldn’t extend that warranty another 30 days to accommodate an 8 year customer who through no fault of their own paid $ 1,600 for a leaky Turbo from Herb’s Volvo in Fullerton. After being told by Judy (the office manger at Herb’s) several times that my Turbo was not leaking I asked to back up her statement in writing by noting it on my bill, she refused. So I went back to The Fullerton Auto Clinic who diagnosed the leaky Turbo bought at Herb’s only 4 months earlier. The Fullerton Auto Clinic rebuilt my Turbo replaced my Oil Trap and Intercooler hoses (another thing that should be done when replacing a Turbo that Herb’s neglected to do) for $ 1,365.
Unbeknownst to me Myrna, the office manager at Fullerton Auto Clinic called Herb’s to check if they replaced the Intercooler when they replaced a Turbo, reluctantly Herb’s told the Myrna that replacing the intercooler when replacing a Turbo was standard procedure at Herb’s. This so-​called standard procedure was obviously not followed in my case. Bill at The Fullerton Auto Clinic not only showed me how the excess oil from my leaky Turbo bought at Herb’s only 4 months prior was overfilling my Oil Trap but clogging my Intercooler hoses as well.
Legally Herb’s warranty is what it is. Morally and ethically overcharging, incompetent installation of parts from an seemingly unreliable parts supplier and treating an 8 year customer poorly because he had the audacity to ask that Herb’s honor for another 30 days their warranty is not a recipe for future success. Herb’s may have been reliable in the past, but I hope my experience warns others not to trust Herb’s Volvo in Fullerton with their cars or their hard earned money in the future.

I get the feeling that we have been ripped off. When asked for the parts we had to be called back and prove ownership to the car when I paid for it already. Finally said that is fine I will have Fullerton PD come with me to collect the parts. I just feel with all the bad ratings on Yellow pages and the few here that they are rip off artists. Judy is rude after she has gotten the cash. I never would take so much as a tricycle here again. If I find out that we have been ripped off I will take this to the Dept. of Consumer Affairs auto division. People don’t know but you have recourse when you are ripped off by an auto repair place. Then you can get a judgment through small claims up to $ 7,500 and it may be higher now. I am tired of people being parasites.

I shopped around everywhere and these guys are willing to work with you and provide you with the best service and prices.
I got my fuel pump replaced and just got my batteries changed on my BENZ S550.

Took my 2000 Mercedes in since the transmission electrics had a fault and it was stuck in 2^nd gear. I don’t have a Star Diagnostic computer, so even if I replaced the parts I wouldn’t be able to get the transmission computer reset. I usually do my own work, but took it in as I didn’t want to take the time out to do this job.
Quick diagnosis, entire job completed less than 24 hours after dropping off the car. Less than the dealer would have charged, and quality parts used. Good experience, they even brought out and offered me the old parts they replaced. Got an inspection report of common failure components for my car, which was nice and very accurate and truthful in my opinion. No extra charge for the black footprints in my drivers carpet either :)

I have been there so much getting my «FREE» 2000 V70 140K miles fixed. This «FREE» car has already racked up 11 000.00 in repairs. This time I had the cabin filter changed out amoung other things. The fillter thing was covered in mold and dirt. I love that fact that they (Ms Lori & Ms Judy) shows me the parts that are pulled out of «Diablo» (when he is bad) or «BBA, Billy Bad Ass» when he is good.
I have been her so much since i got Diablo in ⁸⁄₁₃. Yes, you read it right. 11,000.00 is less then a year., I feel like i should be invited to the company Christmas Party.
I did take Diablo over the Dr. Inports in FV .160.00 just to get screwed over with no KY… They were so much more and i felt like i was getting pimped all the time. And they were not cheap…
I have priced getting stuff done at South Bay Volvo and Commentwealth in Santa Ana were 3 times as much for any of the repairs I was asking about. Commenwealth just saying bring it in and we will check it out first.
LOOK bottom line Ms Lori and the whole team at Herb’s is great by me and Billy Bad Ass. They have this OIL CHANGE DEAL PUNCH CARD… and the 6 one is FREE…

MIGHT AS WELL GO TO THE DEALER. Brought in my Volvo as ABS lights were on. They told me I needed to replace the Brake Control Module and they could not find rebuilt one. It would be $ 1300 for a new one and $ 400 more for labor. Total $ 1700.00. I searched and found a company that would rebuild my exact Module for $ 200 with lifetime warranty. I called Herbs and told them that I found a place that would rebuild the module. They said that they would not install the rebuilt module. So, if you are looking to save money over dealer cost this is not the place. In the end, I will save a huge chunk of change by going to a service shop that acts like an independent service shop.

Always get a second opinion.
I took my 2006 volvo there for a broken AC. They charged me $ 50 for an assessment and if I decided to have work completed there, they would apply this to the invoice. Although the drop off and pickup service was convienient, the mechanics are dishonest. They called me after having my car for about 4 – 5 hours and told me I needed a new compressor, dryer and expansion valve, freon, evacuation and recharge to cost $ 1,100 + tax (for the afer market parts or about $ 1,500 for Volvo parts). I wanted a second opinion so I took it Volvo-​Signal Hill Foreign Auto Service. They had it for about two hours and called to tell me it just needed an AC service (AKA two containers of freon). This cost $ 147.00 and was done in about 3 hours.
So to sum it up, Herb’s is a dishonest service facility, an establishment you would expect to see on Dateline for scamming.

The Volvo that’s been in the family ever since it was brand new has been coming here. I love coming here because its like my second family. They fix my car to perfection. I would definitely recommend coming here! They know what they’re doing! :)

They screwed me royally on my brake job… I would think twice before you use these folks for auto repair.
