Dr. Mechanix

Last year, our normal Buena Park Honda dealer said they were too busy to change the oil on our Honda CR-​V. Seriously? So we tried Dr. Mechanix, and it’s the best decision we ever made! After receiving great service at the agreed upon prices, with no other hassles, we went back to have our radiator replaced at a fraction of dealer prices. Fast forward to 2015 and we had brakes replaced and other updates such as new spark plugs, cabin filters and other others because this car is 14 years old. My wife has dropped off and picked up the car many times with no problems… not sure what those other customers in previous reviews are talking about.
We learned the adjacent used car lot has a family partnership, so we thought, why not, and hired them to detail our car. Wow! They did an amazing clay wax job on our 14 year old car, and we later had them use their detailer to polish our yellowed headlights to near new again.
We developed enough trust and confidence with the «Doctor» that we did the unthinkable with a car mechanic… we handed him the keys and said please road test our car and let us know what you recommend. With an old car, we were prepared for the worst, but Dr. Mechanix simply said it’s fine. Our Honda dealer was always recommending expensive repairs such as changing engine mounts at $ 1000+ but we never noticed a problem, and besides, we know that bringing a very old car up to original factory specifications is prohibitively expensive and not required.
Thank you Dr. Mechanix for performing great service, being trustworthy, not trying to rip us off, and keeping our car running reliably. Oh, I see our other car is due for maintenance… we’ll see you soon!

Hard working man, pleasent guy. Came in for auto inspection

This place is an awesome auto shop. Even though is small but their services could be said to be an unforgettable experience. Since I discovered the place it has been a self relief to auto repair. Great job and good price.

got my car fixed in 30 minutes and they didnt try and charge me extra plus they talked to me more than just small talk, you can tell they genuinely care about the customer and see you as a person and not just a dollar sign. i’m definetely going back if need be.

Worst place ever only take your car here if you don’t want it fixed they will damage your car and over charge you, I was coming here for years secretly getting screwed and I never knew until my last visit very disappointing, I had to sell my dream Car because of all the money I spent here trying to repair what didn’t need repaired they just took my money and damaged my car

Some one delete my commitment. Just want to say this place is a rip off. They over charge they say thing are wrong but there not. They fix thing then cause anther problem. The new guy Jo flirt with you treat you like s sex thing. He is a sexest. Rude. They keep your car for ever and they keep breaking stuff all the time on your car so you alway go back you go in for an oil change. You come or with 5 hundreds doller or more with out your permission. The are s rip off dis honest.

CUSTOMER BEWARE!
Do not come to this shop. I was there on Friday and left with more damage than I went in with. When I went to my dealership mechanic the next morning they were in shock. Only 1 out of my 4 brakes were working and they deemed my truck un safe and not drive-​able. On top of that they were so unorganized, I waited for 30 min at 2pm for the owner to get back from buying food, then they didn’t have receipts made up. Big mess. Now my truck needs calipers because he screwed those up and hand made his own brake line. So un safe. Save yourself and do not come here!

After saving a great deal of time and money on a couple of oil changes, had my daughters’ car towed to Dr. Mechanix. They completed the repairs at the quoted price and we picked it up that day. This repair would have taken 2 days and cost at least twice as much at our FORMER mechanic.
I brought my car in for an oil change and A/​C service and got a call saying that I needed new brakes and rotors. I remembered that the last time the front brakes were replaced (5 yrs ago) they said that I would need new rotors next time. Picked up the car later that day and again, the total charge for everything was less than half of what I’ve paid in the past and was completed in a shorter time.
Two days after the oil change, I noticed a rubbing/​grinding noise coming from the driver’s front wheel. Brought it in and after test drive, they said it was the wheel bearing and would take 2 hours to repair. I paid for the part they ordered that day and said that I would bring my car in the next morning.
The next morning, I got a message within an hour of dropping off my car, that it was ready for pick up. When I got there, they showed me the unopened box with the original Volvo part in it. I thought they were pranking me! They then told me that when they removed the wheel, there was a piece of wood/​twig that was stuck in the wheel. After they removed it, there was no more noise, so there was no charge!
WOW! Nancy was very helpful in getting my refund from their third party vendor, in a timely manner. I am so grateful for Dr. Mechanix and their wonderful staff!

I read the three reviews here on Unilocal and they seemed promising… ButI sadly had a different experience. Im used to the usual $ 20 oil change at jiffylube and expected the same here. Dropped the car, a Saturn Ion, off here and was quoted a half an hour wait time. Went out for lunch and walked around for an HOUR AND A HALF with no call that the car was ready. By the time I walked back it was just being finished. Not only that, I was greeted with a price of $ 31 dollars. Why you ask? I guess Saturn’s have a «canister» oil filter which is an extra ten dollars… No one called me of this extra charge and like ive said before, ive never been charged extra for an oil filter… This pissed me off a bit but what really got me was that I was not told that anything else had been checked, ie fluids, tire pressure, air filter etcetc… In the end, id suggest going to jiffy or some place like that because they at least reassure you that they checked other parts of the car. NOT GOING BACK…

I simply had to write a review about this place because I was very impressed with their prices and attentiveness. I was going to pay nearly $ 160 at my local Jiffy Lube for an oil change and transmission service. I found an ad on the PennySaver for this place and decided to give them a try since their prices were significantly below those of chain repair centers. The place sits behind a small, independently owned car lot and it’s everything you expect it to be: small, dirty, and questionable-​looking. But the moment I pulled up, I was received as if I was at a luxury car dealership. The mechanic took the keys to my car and got to it right away (they were kind enough to take me in even though I showed up 45 minutes before closing) and inside, I was greeted by the owners and another mechanic. They were SO nice! They kept me informed of the repairs and made small talk while I waited. Less than an hour later I was done and the damage was only half of my initial quote at Jiffy Lube. They didn’t try up-​selling me on anything, as most other places do, and there was no surprise charges on my invoice. I will definitely be coming back here for future repairs, and have started spreading the word about this little hidden gem.

I’ve never really gotten to many repairs completed by a mechanic on my vehicles before as I typically get a new vehicle before I have too.
However, I decided this time I am going to keep my vehicle and get some maintenance on it.
Being new to the area I googled mechanics in the area and found Dr. Mechanix and it just so happened they had some good deals on their website. So I went in for my breaks to be changed as well as my timing, air conditioning and water pump belts.
This business inspected my brakes and determined that only the front ones needed changing which a lot of businesses will try to talk you into doing all of them to make more money. They were quick in their work and even gave me a ride to and from my house as I only live a mile or so from their facility.
Also, he appears to have good deals on vehicles for sale as well and offers a warranty there as he has his own repair shop. The owner said that he could get me the BMW that I wanted and quoted me a good price, however, the interesting thing that he also said is that the smart thing to do is to stick with my current vehicle if it is reliable, debt-​free and cheap maintenance. That honesty kind of threw me for a loop.
The owner «Nick» is a nice guy and the mechanics are certified.
One thing to note — I did go down to one of the shops at a gas station just down the road in downtown Fullerton and they wanted about two thirds more for the same repairs.
I would highly recommend this business for purchasing a vehicle and definitely for car repairs.

Prety good service. They are quick on service and will only do work that is required. The owners are always very talkative. :)
