History

Established in 2012.

At the Tent Chik our main focus is to help you create your special event! We are a husband and wife duo with a lot of energy and creativity. We were recently married in August of 2011 so we understand the financial and mental burden of trying to plan an event. We can relate! We planned our own wedding and tried to cut costs in every way possible from creating our own invitations to collecting all our own china and flatware. After the wedding we weren’t sure what to do with our 350 place settings of dinnerware. We thought, why not rent it? We pooled together what money we had saved up plus all of the money from our wedding and we started a rental business in the summer of 2012. It went better than expected our first year, and last year we did almost 90 events. We are hoping to continue that well into the future. Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we will do everything we can to try to exceed your expectations.

Business Owner

We are Jay and Megan Merkins, a recently married couple from West Michigan. We are a husband and wife team who love working together, we have a passion for helping people and a passion for life! Jay is a graduate of GVSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, working full time for a print and mail service bureau in Muskegon, MI. Megan works full time as a Licensed Veterinary Technition and is a part time student at GVSU. She is also the brains and imagination behind our business, hence the name; «The Tent Chik.» Don’t be surprised if though, if it’s the tent «dude» who shows up at your at your home if you need a tent set up. :) Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we will do everything we can to try to exceed your expectations.
