Description

Specialties

The Hot Tomato makes dough fresh everyday in an actual mixer, our pizza is hand tossed. Our cheese is grated on the premises and our sauce is made from scratch every morning.

We our big supporters of New Belgium Brewery and carry all of their beer on tap. We also have a selection of red and white wines.

We offer pizza by the slice, whole pies, stromboli, calzones, sausage rolls and incredibly fresh salads, using local produce when in season.

History

Established in 2005.

Jen is from New Jersey, Anne is from Washington state. Both avid mountain bikers, they moved to Fruita to ride and enjoy the lifestyle. After a couple of years of hearing complaints of the lack of good food in Fruita they decided to take a chance throwin’ pie!

With very little food experience and great work ethic, Jen and Anne have been embraced by the locals and tourists alike. Whether you are getting «hot pie and a cold beer,» or trail info, the Hot Tomato proves time and time again that its about enjoying your time in Fruita.

Meet the Business Owner

Jen and Anne Z.

Business Owner

Jen is a former Professional BMX/DS/DH racer who has been involved with bikes since she was a kid. After retiring from competitive cycling and working at bike shops it was decided to «get a real job.» After working in several pizzeria’s growing up in South Jersey, a funky little pizza shop seemed like the right thing to do.

Anne’s love is on her bike or taking sweet photos of other peeps on bikes, you can find her work in various cycling mags worldwide. Aside from taking photos, Anne is a ripper on a bike as well. Anne joined Jen in the Hot Tomato venture a few months in and has been“throwin pie” like an east coaster ever since.
