What a Great Dog! Training Center

Went there recently and I signed up for 4 sessions of Puppy Socialization.
I didn’t even bother going to the 4^th. session, because I found it to be a waste of my time (repetitive).
The trainer gave too much important information and not enough time for puppy socialization.
Puppies want to play and I understand the reasons for WAGD wanting to do it their way and holding the pups on a leash, but then call the class:
«Owner Socialization while holding a puppy on a leash, that wants to run free and play, but not allowed».
They limit the class to 2 – 3 people per pup (12 – 15 pups), but it was chaotic at times with the kids wanting to pet the pups and leashes crossing over.
The good intentions to give important information, took too much of the limited 30 minutes session.
Suggestion: Have a class for the owners, while the pups run free.
I could have done 1 session, save $ 30 and would have come out the same after 4 sessions.
Ended up bringing a personal dog trainer home. Yes, more expensive, but worth every penny of it, plus my whole family was present and no chaos.
Highly recommend to this and do the socialization going to parks or walking around.
We are doing the socialization with all the other dogs in our dog friendly neighborhood.
I know WAGD are very well known as dog trainers and I want to emphasize, that this was my experience for the Puppy Socialization Class only and this is meant as constructive criticism.

In this time and age, we only get to hear the bad experiences and rarely the good ones.
When a business takes pride in what they do, they listen to clients comments and make changes to improve the quality of their services.
In this occasion, I wanted to update what a fine first class business WAGD is.
After my not so positive review, the owner contacted me and offered a complete refund ($ 40) for the 3 classes I attended and the one I voluntarily missed. No strings attached. I appreciated this super professional gesture and she discussed taking my criticism to heart and making changes to the Puppy Socialization Class. The owner didn’t have to do this at all, but being a legit caring business, she did.
I accepted a partial credit only for the class I missed on purpose ($ 10), since I attended the other 3 and still there was plenty of good information that I got out of the class, plus I didn’t feel right getting a full refund.
This gesture moved me into writing an update about WAGD.
Remember, this is a great place for dog training with great reviews and many recommended this place to me. I am planing on taking the advanced classes once my GS pup comes back from boarding school.
I must repeat and emphasize, that this was my personal experience for the Puppy Socialization Class, not the whole business.

We have been through puppy 1, 2, pet manners 3, Great Dog, and Rally classes. My 15 month old lab has pretty much grown up here! The trainers are great, the techniques are ONLY positive, and I know a ton of really great dogs who are very happy to work for their owners due to the positive training. The facility is amazing. Whether you want just some basic manners and information on how to begin raising a dog, or you want advanced classes for fun, this place is fantastic. The trainers are fun, positive, and motivated, even if it is the 100^th puppy class they teach — they really seem to love seeing the dogs progress. They have large, clean, indoor rings, and an amazing agility ring — which is going to get even better with artificial turf. They are one of a few facilities that offer Cynosport Rally Trials — if you want to get into Rally, this is a fantastic facility.

We finish manners 1 today with two dogs and I have been very happy with the classes and what we have learned. The retail shop is also wonderful. We have one dog who has been in private lessons for anxiety and we learned so much on how to manage her fears and help her feel less anxious in most situations. We are going to continue classes and would highly recommend to any pet owner to take a training class here with their pet. :)

What a great facility! We signed up for the puppy class for our GSD. Now he brings me my paper every morning! Today I took him on a 3 mile run with no leash… he ran right next to me and ignored all distractions! Thanks WAGD!

What a Great Dog! is THE place to bring your dog for training. The instructors I’ve had for classes paint pictures with their words which makes everything easy to understand. Their facility is big, kept cool, and always kept clean. They have a big retail area stored with healthy choice options for treats, toys, and training equipment. I would recommend What a Great Dog! to anyone.

Land of the dog whisperers! The trainers here are exceptional. The facility is clean, animal friendly and state of the art for agility. You may even run across some celebrity dogs in the Hollywood class!
My daughter has been through 2 training classes and we have seen a drastic improvement in our dogs’ behavior! We also had a one on one class that helped with a behavior issue.
Worth the money and the time!

The agility class is fantastic. The instructor is an award winning Agility competitor on the national circuit, Jody Lolich.
The facility is huge! They change the course each day for the different training levels.
A cool new feature is video! They have installed a large LCD and security cameras. The video is on a 3 minute delay so you can watch yourself and get the best feedback.
We’ve got 2 huskies who are ready to get their certificates. All 3 huskies have their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificates through WAGD. These people are good.

This place is AWESOME! My dog loves going there for her training sessions. The entire staff is knowledgeable and their love of dogs is present in every interaction with the animals and their owners. The indoor arenas are always neat and clean and the agility /​rally equipment /​arena is second to none.

I have used Maureen P and What a Great Dog! for many years, with two different dogs and have had great results! They are very caring and knowledgable about all aspects of dog training. I don’t think you can find better trainers or a better facility! I highly recommend What a Great Dog!

Love this place and its people. They care about dogs, all dogs, and have a great deal of knowledge about them. We went in to pick up some specialty food and got into a discussion with the owner, Maureen about a friend of ours who just got a new pup. She was able to give me some very practical and valuable information to pass along to our friend about his new friend, and he was terrifically grateful. I’m encouraging him to bring his new buddy to WAGD to get him started off in life with the very best doggie manners.

It is such a rewarding feeling when people stop you on the street and say «WOW, where was your dog trained» or ask «are you a dog trainer». That is what What A Great Dog and their fantastic trainers have done for me and my boy Tugger.
This is by far the best dog training center in TX and I highly recommend the facility to anyone looking to further your relationship with your dog. They have everything from basic obedience training, puppy classes, agility, trick training, rally and so much more. It doesn’t matter if you just want to have a better behaved dog or you’re looking to compete at a high level, What A Great Dog has it all.
The facility is meticulous, the people are fantastic and all of the training is done with positive methods. You simply won’t find a better quality training facility than What A Great Dog in Frisco, TX.

I like the training methods and group class work. The trainers are nice and helped deal with jumping. Our classes were mainly for socialization and minor training. Our issue is that our puppy kept getting bugs from all the dogs there, I guess. Switching to Bark Busters for at-​home training to tone down on this. We live to far away for the toll bills and the vet bills. I reccomend it– it’s just that our dog is super sensitive. Sigh.

My Aussie & I just signed up for classes at WAGD. I had come prior to watch my friends do some agility practice and I was convinced that this is the place to train. The facility is beautiful and the trainers are the best of the best. These people know what they’re talking about.
I wish they had more locations, because living in Euless to travel to Frisco is taking a toll on my wallet… but the drive is WORTH it.

Since my last review… I’ve been going to WAGD! on at least a weekly basis. We added a labrador puppy to the family in July 2012, and WAGD! was ESSENTIAL in helping us along the way. I got great advice from owner/​trainer Maureen on helping both our pups get along at home. Our new addition has gone through puppy class, intermediate class (where he earned an AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate), a fun clicker/​tricks class, and he starts his very first agility class this week!
I’m also still taking agility classes with our first pup, and WAGD! has been a great support to us in beginning to compete at AKC agility trials. Our agility coach, Jody, is AMAZING! We were pretty successful at our first trial last November and our second trial is coming up this weekend!
That part I said in my first review about it being so good you just want to keep going back (over a year ago!!!) rings so true! The people that work at WAGD! and all the other folks that train with their pups at WAGD! really make it a great community.
If you’re looking for basic training, puppy training, help with problems, beginning or advancing in an array of competitive dog sports/​activities (agility, rally, competitive obedience, treibball, nose work, flyball) then WAGD! is for you.
They have recently moved to a state of the art, LARGE, indoor training facility in Frisco. It’s a sight to behold — especially if you love dogs.
