Uptown Cheapskate

This was my first visit to Uptown Cheapskate. I was SO impressed with their selection!
Many of the other thrift stores I’ve visited in the northern side of the DFW metro have been really underwhelming with mostly ratty worn-​out stuff.
Uptown Cheapskate, however, had AMAZING clothes for all sizes — even my curvy bottom and wide linebacker shoulders were able to find plenty of options!
Not to mention, they had a great stock of active attire, normally expensive name-​brand stuff, for super low prices. Under Armour racerback tank tops including shelf bra for $ 9.99 for example. Uhhh YEAH, thanks, I’ll take them all! Similar pricing for workout pants and yoga pants, which were $ 8.99 to $ 12.99.
Will definitely bring my mom here when she visits, so we can have a great «thrifting» experience!

It’s nice for a resale clothing store. The one in Keller is much better. The staff at the Preston location could care less about helping anyone. Theyd rather be left alone to talk in their group about boys and random other stuff. Took almost 15 min to check out cause they were talking and then the lady checking us out decided half way through that she would rather to talk to one of the staff members who was talking about school. So we had to wait for someone else to check us out.
Good place for clothes at a good deal, but the staff makes you not want to go back.

After giving up on ever losing the 15 pounds I’ve put on in the past year, I decided to sell some of the clothes that will never again fit. I’ve read some negative reviews of this and other resale shops in the area but I must say I had a pleasant experience at Uptown Cheapskate. People in Dallas don’t seem to understand how resale shops work as most bad reviews mention the low prices offered for their items. Sure, you won’t get anywhere near full price but they sell their items at 50, 70, 80% off retail value so you shouldn’t expect that when selling. People come to these places to get bargains, not pay full price. I was happy with the price I was given. The wait was a bit long but these things take a while sometimes so no worries there. Staff was friendly and helped in anyway they could. If you’re looking for full price on your resale items, try selling online. If you’re realistic about what you’ll get, come here.

Employees were snotty the moment I walked through the door. I had to practically walk behind the counter to get the lady’s attention to be helped while I stood with two baskets in my hands looking like I’m about to drop them. I know she saw me. Obnoxious teenage girl who is mad she has to work retail on a Sunday. I’m sorry, but not my problem. I don’t owe you anything. Rude, unpersonable, and zero social skills. Needs to be fired. Manager: her name was Sam.

This is by far the WORST re-​sale store I’ve ever been to. I brought in a bag of awesome clothes: from $ 300 pair of Seven’s and True Religion jeans, Marc Jacobs dresses, Steve Madden shoes, Urban Outfitters tops, and two pairs of $ 200 gap pants (most with the tags still attached, otherwise they still looked brand new). I wasn’t greeted and had to call someone over after 10 minutes of standing at the front. I was then told it’d be a 30 minute wait after handing them my bag of clothes and after 45 minutes, I went to the counter to see that they hadn’t even started looking at my clothes. Overall, it took 80 MINUTES for them to sort through my 15 nice things. They offered me $ 73 for over $ 1000 worth of clothes. Um, I don’t think so. I will definitely be taking my clothes to a nicer, more respectable re-​sale store as this is a total thrift shop! The inside is chaos and there’s no organization whatsoever. Everything looked super cheap and dirty — there were people shopping without shoes in the store, kids running wild, definitely not returning!

Terrible awful customer service. Dropped my things off at noon one day and could not stay. Was informed to come back in a couple of hours. I did, and they hadn’t looked at my stuff. The manager rudely informed me that people that stay get first priority… because they may potentially buy something. Because I left, I got my stuff back at 6:30 at night. Tacky, tacky, tacky. Never again.

The organization of the store is manageable. Everything is color coded and sorted by sizes, which is nice. As an avid shopper, I was appalled at how overpriced some of their items were considering they were secondhand and did not have tags still on them.
The manager (I’m assuming) was incredibly sweet. The younger girls who worked there were snotty and seemed like they hated their jobs. I went with the initial intent to sell some designer brand items there. They offered me $ 20 for a purse that retails for over $ 200 currently on the Nordstrom website. The bag still had all of the tags AND the dustbag, which they shoved back into my purse (not the purse into the dustbag) when I told them I would not accept their offer.
I was just very upset with this store and hope no one every has to deal with this. The pricing of the other items was a bit shocking as well, but I just wanted to get rid of the clothes I brought, so I sold them. Disappointing experience overall.

The prices here are all over the place from 5.99−110 $ buying from them isn’t bad, but selling stuff ISN’T worth it. Brought in coach shoes and they didn’t take them, they took 4 items an express shirt (new with tags) simply Vera bag, and 2 other items they only offered me 15 $ i might as well have gone to Platoes closet. Offer me more. Selling not worth it buying is alright. If your bored it is a good place to walk around or trying to kill time.

From a buyer’s perspective, this was a cute, well organized store that costs a bit more but is great for thrifting on a time budget. The place was well lit, the racks organized by size, type of garment, and grouped by color, the dressing rooms are roomy and well maintained without slumping broken wall hooks or piles of discarded clothing, racks are full without being stuffed to the brim, so there is space to move hangers and take a look at each item, and the clothing is in rather good condition.
On the negative side, the store has a lot of clothing that would be cheap anyway (why does anyone buy used Forever 21 clothing ever?) and you will be shuffling through a lot of fad clothing that is on its way out (good riddance peplums.)
I was only in for about 15 minutes getting my lay of the land on the way to another appointment. Still I had time to find a Banana Republic dress in excellent condition for 20 bucks and be on my way. Count me as a fan.

Came here again to get rid if clothes and make new closet space. The only thing that annoys me is the customer service. I stood at the front for about 5 minutes before I got any help. Two chicks behind the counter and not a agile one of them will drop what they r doing to check me out. Jeez! I finally had the guys to say, «Hi, excuse me, is there anyone working the front counter?». #iKnowitsMondaybutGoshDarn

I’m not fond of this place. I have definitely experienced better. I’ve sold things here and purchased things here. When it comes to selling. it is not worth it. The name of their business fits them perfectly. I had 2 pairs of brand new Miss Me jeans with tags attached, along with a tote bag of about 15 pieces either new or gently used. all brand names. They offered me $ 29 for it all. Um, no thanks.
My experience purchasing items here has been a miss. I bought a dress that had a hole in it that I never noticed until I wanted to wear it for the first time nearly a month later. They didn’t accept a return, even for the defective item I had purchased!!! Ugh! Returns only can be done within 2 weeks and for store credit only! Crap. A quick browse through the clothing, you’ll see lots of outdated styles and faded colors. They have a lot of brand name items, but it’s probably a few seasons out of style already.
Something else worth mentioning, the employees are rude! They completely ignore you. One in particular, Toria, I believe she’s a supervisor or manager, is the worst. I came in with my items to sell and went up to the counter where she was about 5 feet in front of me. She saw me. Yet I had to be the one to speak first and get her attention. Really? There’s no way she didn’t see me. I figured maybe she had a bad day or something. It happens. So, the next time I went in months later, it was like déjà vu… same girl, same situation! Yikes.
Overall, I’d say you should go elsewhere. The place is overpriced for used clothing. Yes, you may find a good deal here and there, once in awhile. but it might just be worth the effort to check elsewhere instead. You most likely find something brand new for less. And you might even get a greeting.

I will start by saying that I don’t live for thrift shopping. This place keeps it stylish though and well organized. I think it’s best for picking up a cute accessory like a bag or clutch for going out. Prices are cheap. You can also sell your old stuff here for money or store credit. Well run but not my typical type of shopping. They also carry more juniors sizes than anything else.

I hate to say this, but customer service is not very important to me when I’m shopping for clothes. If I find a good deal, I could care less about the employees. However, I have never had a bad experience at Uptown either, so I can’t agree with the other reviewers.
I have been able to find several items way below retail price whenever I go in here, and love so much of what they have. I try to go in at least every 2 weeks, to help support local businesses and get new clothes for a very reasonable price.

I went in today to browse and sell some things. When I got there the girl told me they had too much stock to look at my stuff and I’d have to come back another day. Ummm, ok. Went to Buffalo Exchange and got $ 150. You’re loss Cheapskates! I won’t be returning to peruse inventory and I’ll sell my stuff to other trade stores. Get more friendly staff. You’re not the only ones in this business!

First off, Uptown Cheapskate has the worst customer service EVER and the employees are ruder than Regina George (from Mean Girls, the movie).
I recently bought a Designer purse here, and when I bought it, I asked one of the employees what their return policy was and if I could return it if after I have it authenticated it was a fake, and she said «yes, absolutely! You can return it and get your money back if you are not happy with it. We would definitely give you 100% cash back since you paid cash for the bag». I went in a few days ago (tags still on bag) to return it since the authenticator said it was just a really good fake (aka knockoff), and they refused to give me my money back. It was even within their 7 day return policy!
Oh, and by the way… The person who wouldn’t let me return it was the OWNER. She has shoulder length blonde hair, but I don’t remember what her name was. (I will update this when I remember).
I mean, I can now see why I got such bad service at this store. The owner was so rude, and not at all I would have expected an owner to be like.
This store is overall sketchy to me. I saw when I was in that they were selling a FAKE pair of nude Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps for $ 200. That’s right… Two. Hundred. Bucks.
If I were you, I would stay away from this store. You’ll save your self a lot by staying away.
P. S. their return policy is 7 days for store credit or exchange, and the employee working LIED to me to get me to buy the handbag.

A fabulous, expansive recycled clothing store that buys/​sells/​trades for young men and women. When I saw it passing through, I just knew I had to stop in and sample the fashion. Extremely well-​organized and some great brands. The only thing I would say is that it is slightly more than places like Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads Trading Co. For example, I bought a jersey VS Maxi dress there for $ 17.99, the cost of which really surprised me. Many items there were more expensive than I would have expected, but they just opened about two weeks ago, so maybe pricing will even out. And hey, I still bought it.
