Legacy Vet

Dr. Kelley has been my dogs vet since he was a puppy (he’s now 7 years old). We followed her to this clinic from her previous clinic because she is the only one I trust with my fur babies. My guy is a tough case. She’s saved his life on FOUR different occasions, due to him consuming inedibles (he loves socks) which results in surgery. I have been very happy with this clinic. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Noelle has been our vet tech on most occasions and she, like Dr Kelley, is a kind and gentle soul and very good with my dogs. If you want the best care possible for you pets in Frisco, this is your place!

Really friendly and caring vet. Feel good that are dogs are in their care and always feel confident when we board our dogs here. Highly recommend.

I took my 2 Yorkies there to be groomed. I was immediately presented with a bill of approximately $ 235.00 for EACH dog. The list of charges included shots, among other things. I knew my 2 dogs needed the 2 shots each just to get groomed there (although no other groomer requires it) so I said okay to the 2 shots. When I returned to pick up my dogs, I learned that my one Yorkie received a rabies vaccination! I was appalled. This is NOT my vet!!! I have a different vet! How DARE they give my dog a shot (a month early, btw) when I specifically told them NO other shots besides the 2 they said they needed to be groomed!!! What a racket! People, beware! You take you dogs to get groomed and they get shots without your permission!!! Not to mention the cuts were the worst I’ve ever seen. You fill out a form about how you want your dog groomed. They saved their bellies!!! Yes, shaved!!! Never again…

This practice is well known in the veterinary community for charging over the top high prices and providing poor care or little care for what you pay. Don’t believe me? Just ask your vet and see what I’m saying — most people wind up having to go somewhere else for a quality visit with adequate care. All the surrounding vets get to hear and see the horror stories from this clinic. Maybe they should spend more time on medical treatment and less time on decorating.

I took my pit bull terrier mix in because he had a bad case of the runs. The did an exam and a X-​ray on his stomach. My dog is 9 years old and he knee does look out of place. But he runs jumps as if it’s fine and does not limp on it. The dr without xraying his knee or anything said that my 9 year old dog would need 2,000 surgery and that he probably had hip dysplasia (I had no clue that he might have this due to his activity level) I did not express interest in surgery though I was concerned. The staff acted like I didn’t care about my dog and dr gave me an attitude of how could I like him go on like this.
So I left after paying 600 $ for an upset tummy. I went to another vet to get a second opinion. This vet took one look at him and try to get me to do surgery too without even taking an X-​ray. I requested an X-​ray
The dr said he knee was out of place and he had hip dysplasia and that he needed to go to the vet orthopedic surgery center.
So we took him to a specialist. The orthopedic surgeon told us that… he makes his money doing surgeries but would NOT do surgery on my dogs knee. He said it is very common condition in terrier mixes and there was a 90% chance that after the surgery his knee would just pop out of place again
As far as the hip dysplasia, he said it was severe but since he is running and jumping and not expressing any type of pain he would NOT do surgery.
He said to bring him back when he can’t walk. Gave us some anti inflammatory if he ever gets stiff and recommend vitamins
These vets were so ready to cut my dog open. I’d be all for it if my dog was obviously in pain, couldn’t walk, jump. Be careful they don’t care… they want your money.
Since I have changed my vet and this place still calls and sends emails and postcards after I repeatedly requested to be taken off their contact list… You couldn’t pay me to come back here. Especially after the treated me as if I was an irresponsible owner. When they were the ones being irresponsible

Worst experience ever. Took our two dogs in for a heartworm test (quoted on the phone $ 50 per dog) then we get in there and Dr Kelley was so hateful to her tech I felt sorry for him. And then came the selling. Told us one of our dogs could have a clotting problem because he had a red spot on the inside of his ear and we would need a clotting test. Quoted us $ 700 (for one dog!) for heartworm pre testing, vaccinations and the list goes on and on just for a heartworm test. Im not making this up. I wish I was. So while we were waiting for more quotes of how much this whole ordeal was going to cost us, we checked out with the front desk and told her why and she quoted us $ 27 per dog for the heartworm test. Basically, these people just want to sell you any possible test, shot, medication, etc they can. Scammers flat out. Obviously we won’t be back and want to warn others not to waste their time.

We have 4 dogs, so it’s a little pricey. But the care is exceptional and my pups are healthy and happy.

Great place for your pet! When our tabby: Holly was diagnosed with cancer Dr. Kelley took excellent care of her. She even gave us her personal cell phone number so we could contact her with any questions that we had about Holly’s treatment options. From first diagnosis to final goodbye, as Holly passed away, the staff at Legacy Vet were always very kind and respectful my husband and I. Dr. Kelley and her staff showed so much genuine compassion and care for our pet, I almost wished they were my own health care providers!

On Thursday 4 – 23 we had a dog, Daisy, that became seriously ill (she couldn’t breathe very well) in our grooming salon. We rushed her to Legacy Vet and walked into an unresponsive front desk help. They took Daisy back and gave her oxygen, and when Daisy’s owners arrived, they were told that without an estimated payment of $ 931.00 they would not treat their dog. As you can imagine, the owners were very upset not knowing if their dog would live to drive it to another vet. They still will refused treatment after pleading with the veterinarian. We transported little Daisy to The Pet Vet at Eldorado and the Tollway, were an amazing staff treated her for four hours, and saved her life. The owners were treated with respect and sympathy throughout the whole ordeal. It became very clear to me as a business owner in the are that this veterinary clinic is all about money, and not the animals. I have never posted anything before but felt the need to inform local pet owners.

Love this place! Dr. Traxler took the time to look over Belle the Bengal cat. He was very personable and took his time. Price was reasonable for a first time new cat appointment. I have also boarded another cat here for over a week, hands down the best place to board your fur baby. They have very friendly staff that go above and beyond. I will agree that the front end staff could use a little help with phones and check-​ins. But that will not deter me from calling this the go to Veterinary Hospital in Frisco!

The first thing they discuss is the $ 135 fee they want just to SEE your pet. I get it, this is Frisco and some people throw their money out the window but how dare you run a facility like this. I will never bring my dog here. They only get 1 star because it is forcing me to in order to post this review. Go to Phillips Creek Vet, Dr Lopez is great!

We have been going to legacy for several months. Dr. Kelly and all of the techs are so sweet and good with our cat. They are sincerely concerned for her well being. The ladies at the front desk are always nice and helpful as well.

Have started taking our new dog to Legacy Vet and really like the staff and the way they treat us and our dog. They always spend as much time as you need patiently answering our questions.
Our dog had surgery this past week and everything went great.
The only reason that I don’t give this vet clinic a 5 is that their prices are too high. But all other aspects are top notch.

I had a good experience here. Although the girls at the front desk were not friendly and I don’t think ever looked me in the eye, Dr. Julius and the vet techs were great. I will go back and hopefully have a better experience with the front desk.

Dr. Brewer is no longer there… I can understand why. I ended up with a new vet they had hired (young female)…we have to cart (3) dogs and a crazy cat each time we go… and it’s not an easy task… especially with the cat.
She refused to look at the cat because she was afraid he might bite me (the owner of the crazy cat)…He was just making some unpleasant comments about the visit… and he was never going to bite me. I was amazed at her reaction to my simply putting my hand on him to calm him down… and her refusal to look him over.
Needless to say… Dr. Brewer was the only reason we paid these over the top prices…:-(

We’ve been satisfied clients of Legacy Vet for years. Legacy Vet has been there for every emergency throughout the years. We feel they love our pets as much as we do.

I really like how Legacy Vets is open seven days a week, and also has a kennel. I know my pups are well taken care of here when the wife and I have to go out of town. And should there be an emergency, well, my pups are already at the vet! So that gives us much needed piece of mind.
Both my pups were spayed here, and they both had quick recoveries. The price for spaying seemed very reasonable to me.
I believe this place doesn’t price gouges since every vet visit has seemed very reasonable price wise, especially compared to the vet my parents used to use down in Austin. That place did price gouge. Almost everything they did there seemed twice as expensive.
I have had to take in one of my pups twice on separate emergencies. Once for a possible leg injury, and another time due to some sort of stomach bug/​virus.
With the leg injury, they took a couple of x-​rays, and said they couldn’t find anything. The final diagnosis was that sometimes, puppies can go through quick growth spurts and during those spurts, can be a bit more prone to injury. But, that I should just go ahead and keep a look out for any pain in the leg going forward. Since then, there haven’t been any more injuries, so that’s great. Also, they didn’t try to scare me into getting any sort of surgery which I know sometimes happens at various vet places, based on horror stories I’ve read online, and even have first hand experience with my parent’s vet down in Austin.
With t he stomach bug/​virus, they gave my pup two shots, one that was an anti-​nausea shot, and the other was a fluid shot to keep my pup hydrated. Within 24 hours, by pup showed marked improvement.
Both times, the pricing for such care seemed very reasonable.
Very satisfied with this clinic.

I love this place! My entire family comes here. It started with my brother and sister in law with their 5 dogs and cat. Then, my mother and father in law brought their dog. Now we’re on the Legacy Vet band waggon with our 2 dogs and 3 cats. Dr. Julius, Dr. Traxler, and the Sunday vet, Dr. Sager are all so smart and caring. The staff is incredibly friendly and thorough. We love that they have late night and Sunday hours where others don’t because it helps with our crazy work and travel schedules. We’ve been to other vets before with our fur babies, but after coming here, we couldn’t imagine going elsewhere.

We have taken our animals there for about a year now for regular check up services. I took in our puppy in because I knew something was not right and he was sick — he was waking up with a hacking cough and had a lot of fluid. He was to the point of throwing up it was such a deep cough.
$ 60 later after just listening to his heart and lungs we were told to just «watch him» and it might be a pinched trachea.
Not satisfied and knowing something was not right I decided to call another vet and take him in the next day. They did breathing tests and really tried to listen and understand what was going on with him. They diagnosed him with an upper respiratory infection in his nose and put him on meds right away. They said we were lucky we caught it before it went into his lungs which can cause pneumonia.
They charge you an arm and a leg for nothing.
Needless to say – we have switched vets.

When you are quoted a price on something and you ask for the full price. It needs to be as promised. Recently, went to this location for grooming (we followed our groomer to this new location) we were not told complete information and as… a result we were overcharged. NO INFORMATION ON WEBSITE! When we questioned the pricing we were rudely challenged, and told to look on the WEBSITE which noting was on it at all no prices, no forms, no services listed… Will be talking to owner. My only regret we are losing our old groomer who is totally AWESOME! I will definitely let others know about our services.

I moved to Frisco, TX in 2007. I had one Aussie at that time and was very stressed about finding a good vet for my Abby. I tried several different vets and ended up at Legacy Vet a second time and decided that I really liked this hospital and Dr. Julius.
Now it has been six years that I have been going to Legacy Vet and during this time I lost Abby (12 years old) to a stroke and old age but my six year old Aussie Jake has been going since he was 8 weeks old.
I am very hands-​on with the care of my four legged kids and always ask a lot of questions. Dr. Julius is always very professional with me and has really been the only doctor ever that I felt listened to me about my dogs issues. And bless Abby’s heart did she have some issues. Like the neurological kind. Dr. Julius always explains the diagnosis and treatment to me so that I completely understand them.
My experience from the front desk to the office visit is always exactly what I expect.
Dr. Julius is a very good doctor but Dr. Traxler, the newest doctor, is also very good and highly experienced. You can’t go wrong with either of the two of them.
Oh, their office hours are great! They are open 7 days a week!
