I love this store. The concept overall is that you can buy used books that are in good condition for a fraction of the price, and those wishing to clear off their own bookshelves can come in and get cash for selling the books. Love this. This store in particular, though, is a very good size, with high ceilings so that it feels roomy, The service has always been great — they’ll ask if you need help finding things, but also leave you alone to peruse the shelves for your next great read.

I was surprised by the good collection they have. Friendly and helpful staff. You may not always find the book you are looking for but they have some great prices books that are good for a leisurely read. Though they have a small management books collection, a book lover will definitely find good reads.

We went in to find some very specific books, and ended up finding many that we were also looking for, which was fun. We didn’t spend much on books, so we wandered around and found some DVDs and audiobooks. I basically started Christmas shopping on a small scale. ;) We didn’t go buckwild crazy or anything, but definitely we will be back for other items in the future. The only drawback was that the checkout counter had only one person, who did call for backup, but none came to help with the line. So, we just talked with other people in line(as Southerners do) until it was our turn. The girl at the counter was really nice and fun. Plus, I’m a homeschool Mom and I appreciated her giving me my educator discount without any hassle. Thanks so much!

Great books at great prices. Do they always have every book on my reading list, no they don’t. But I always find great deals that are worth reading, and that is cool by me. So put down the remote or thumbing your way through facebook for an hour or two. And come on down to any Half Priced books where there is something for everyone.

I LOVE Half Price Books! I’ve been buying books and more for many years. Pay no attention to what some people say in the other reviews posted here. Sure, they don’t give top dollar for your used books, but they have a large overhead and have to turn a profit or go out of business! Check them out! I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s a great place! I do hope you have some time because there’s a LOT to look at!

When I walked in, I immediately liked this location more than the big location in North Dallas. It just had a more«bookish» feel to the store(including the associates), the customers and the product. It had the look of a hole in the wall used book store. That turned from a positive into something of a negative the more I looked around and got offended by the prices they were asking for some of the books while thinking about what they pay out to sellers. The larger store gives you the impression that you are buying retail product at a discount, while this one feels like thrift store product sold at retail prices.

Never try to sell anything here. I took about 200 CDs and several boxes of barely read books to sell. They refuse to give you any sort of information over the telephone which forces you to come to the store and then they don’t even offer you pennies on the dollar for your products. $ 31.50 is the offer they gave me for all of my stuff. I packed it up and took it home with me. A gentleman mentioned to me on the way out that this place is crooked and they give the same story to every person who tries to sell something there. Boxes of inventory, the stuff won’t sell, the stuff is damaged, etc. He said he donates now, yeah. Me too

I really like this place when the price on amazon is high, and when I have a specific book in mind. I find it difficult to locate books they say are«here,» as the shelves aren’t always organized. This is no fault to the staff, because when it’s busy in here people mess up the shelves pretty good. They do have a nice children’s DVD section as well.

Sometimes this location is a hit or miss for me when I am treasure hunting for books, dvds, audiobooks, and vinyl. I am very impressed with the clearance section here because most of the time I am able to find barely used books here, and a lot of the popular titles as well: New York Times Bestsellers and Books Becoming a Movie. The staff is very friendly, and helpful.

Definitely a poorer selection of items at this store vs the main store in Dallas. Went in for books on CD for a long drive. I could not find anything that was anywhere near interesting. Mostly had those paperback airport books you see people reading on planes as CDs. I want to like this store since the Dallas location is one of my favorite places, but just can’t.

I must say I am very impressed with this store and how they handled my refund with regards to a missing CD I purchased. I purchased a Def Leppard’s Greatest Hits CD for $ 9.99 along with three other CD’s. I made the mistake of not checking the CD cases before I purchased them and the cashier did not check either so I got home and went to open my CD case the next morning and the CD was gone from the case. I thought to myself«how am I going to prove to the store that I did not get the CD». I went into the store and advised the cashier of the missing CD and she gladly gave me a refund and stated that it happens all the time. It was almost a «no question’s asked» refund as they did not have another copy of the CD available, which I would have rather had. Thank you very much Half Price Books as you have a loyal customer for life and are a great store to shop at and I recommend to everyone to check your CD, DVD, Games and/or software cases before you buy them to make sure the item is in the case or has not been switched.

This store almost gave me a panic attack. Super crowded. Employees always asking you to move. The prices weren’t that great either… they’re about the same as Walmart.

I come here quite often to browse and also sell items. Most things are reasonably priced, but some are just crazy overpriced. Mostly kids movies. For what you pay for used there, you can go to Walmart and get brand new. I just recently discovered the clearance section. never saw it tucked in the back of the store before. You can find some killer deals! Hardcover books that are pretty new, in great condition for $ 3. Some are even $ 1. Usually whenever I sell my things there, I get a very small amount. For example, I had 4 college textbooks from this most recent semester. and they offered me $ 7 cash for all. I opted to list on Craigslist instead. I also bring in old magazines and get a couple bucks for them. It’s fine because it’s better than throwing them in the landfill. Will be back again and again.

I’m a fan! I equally like this location as much as I do the Lewisville location. However, I do feel like the Frisco store’s clearance section is made up of books that are in better condition than the Lewisville location. Most look new! The store is pretty big and well-organized. I really liked that they had a whole section in the middle related to earth-day today! Staff were very nice and approachable. The location is conveniently located next to restaurants and shopping stores. Makes for a perfect stop while shopping around the area.

I am a fan of this place. The books are cheap, in good condition and the store is laid out well making it easy to find what you want. The employees are also very helpful if you cannot find what you are looking for. The aisles are also large enough that you don’t feel cramped when you are looking for something and there are a few other people looking in the same genre.

I could spend hours upon hours browsing this shop… and still get out for under $ 20! I love that I can come in here looking for one thing, and am guaranteed to find at least 2 – 3 others than I can’t seem to put back. And with the normal price of a book being anywhere from $ 15-$ 30 and Half Price marking them down to $ 5-$ 10 you can’t beat it. The only complaint that I have is that it’s hard to just call and ask if they have a certain book you’re looking for. You kind of have to go down and look for yourself, but if you’ve got some free time it sure is a great way to pass the time on a boring Saturday!

I first discovered Half Price books when I moved here over 11 years ago. Why weren’t these stores up north??? I was hooked. I can’t seem to leave there without an armful of new reading material. They have everything and all sorts of other knick-knacks you might want as well. What’s also great is you can sell off your stuff when you are done with it and sometimes, just getting rid of some crap is a good thing. This is a store you can get lost in for HOURS and HOURS. You never know what you will find and you will always find something interesting. Many locations in DFW, many opportunties to lose yourself in a book.

Their clearance carts around the place are marked $ 1 – 3, and offer some pretty awesome deals. They also have a clearance section in the back of the place. If you come here looking for a specific book, it’s probably best to not expect it to be there. BUT, if you go looking for one of say five or six books– you’ll probably find one that you were specifically looking for, and if you keep an open mind and stroll around a bit, 2 – 3 more that you didn’t know you were looking for. Such is the nature of used book places. This place is clean, with friendly staff, and a clean bathroom. Perfect place to come after the mall, or a meal nearby to slow down, and unwind pacing through the bookshelves. Also, if you have KERA radio card from donating to NPR fund drives, you get 10% off your order.

This is a great place to go if you are semi broke and like to read. I have purchased a lot of my knitting manuals and pattern books from here. I have also purchased a lot of study manuals I have needed. This is wonderful place to find movies and CDs too. Don’t expect new items, it is all recycled materials but good material. When you go there don’t look to run in and run out, you will spend a lot of time there.

I love this place! This was my first trip to the one in Frisco. I had received a 50% off coupon good for Sunday only via email, and just stopped by to see what I could find. I ended up getting a great $ 80 Roy Lichtenstein coffee table book for $ 20. I also picked up some notecards. The girl working the register was very friendly. I asked if I could ring up the items separately so I could use the ½ off coupon on the most expensive item. She explained there was no need because they always give it to you off the most expensive item. That caught me by surprise, since most places are so strict on their equal or lesser value rules. I never leave any of their stores empty handed. After discovering Half Price Books during a brief stay in Dallas in ’07 I was excited to find that they had two locations in the Phoenix area. I used to drive 30 miles in AZ just to visit a Half Price Books, now that I’m in DFW I don’t have to make a long drive but sometimes I do just to check out the different unique locations. I definitely recommend stopping in one of their stores, it’s a great place to kill a couple hours.
