When my roommate and I were first looking for an apartment, we loved this one! The split floorplan is wonderful for roommates, the bathrooms and closets are large, the price was reasonable with the «specials» they were running. Upon moving in (and by that I mean the day we picked up our keys), we realized that the floorplan we had selected actually varied greatly from the model home. The master bedroom/​bathroom was decreased a GREAT deal so we could have an «office» that actually turned in to a small laundry/​junk room that we never use… If we had wanted an office, we would have been looking for that in a place AND would have expected to be notified prior to bringing furniture in.
Our first full month living there, the electricity bill went through the roof! On average, our electicity bill is 250.00 in the summer and about 125 – 150 in the winter. We never run our heater because the insulation is so terrible that we get the heat from the downstairs apartment. The master bedroom is at least 7 – 8 degrees warmer than the rest of the apartment because the air flow is awful. Ironically enough, the only room in the house that is comfortable is the «office»; too bad it is not large enough to sleep in. The water heater is also terrible, it is your responsiblity to change/​clean everything with the exception of the air filter. When the office was notified of our outrageously high electricity bill for a termostat that is no lower than 70 in the summer, their solution was to close the vents in the guest bedroom to push air to the master. That of course did not solve the problem and then the entire house was hot. Oh yes and the ever-​helpful hint to make sure lights were turned off during the day…
Since there is a 60 day notice required for moving out or renewing, we received a notice 75 days prior to our lease ending that our rent was increasing 163.00 per month. The 15 days they so graciously gave us to look for another apartment turned into us asking for an extension, the office/​management being no help and us deciding to stay feeling extremely defeated. All we hear is policy, policy, policy, so if you like to deal with human beings I would select another apartment.
The office also charged us a 100.00 pet cleaning fee because «we were witnessed» not picking after our dog that just so happened to not even be at our apartment at the alleged time of the crime.
This is by far the worst apartment/​management experience I have ever had and will move out asap.
