Springtide paddlesports is delighted to provide first time paddleboarders with an introduction to the basic paddle strokes, balance techniques, and safety measures to enjoy the exciting sport of stand up paddleboarding, or, SUP. Paddleboarding is a fun and relaxing activity that naturally improves balance, strengthens core muscles, and burns calories. Stand up above the water and explore the scenic beauty and unique wildlife surrounding San Juan Island. Paddle around Griffin Bay, and watch for curious harbor seals swimming around Dinner Island. Discover colonies of exotic marine life clinging to the submerged pilings of the historic island cannery. Spot Bald Eagles and their chicks nesting in the trees above the shore.

Business Owner

Tony’s background as a «Waterman» began when he first took to the swimming pool as a very young child. Since that time he became a certified SCUBA diver and worked as a dive leader in the Atlantic. He learned how to surf when he was in his early twenties. Even though he never lived near any waves, couch surfing in San Diego and traveling around the world lead to real experience on the water. He moved to the northwest to continue his career guiding sea kayaking tours in the San Juan Islands. Tony started SUPping as a way to explore the kelp reefs around San Juan island that were too far out to swim to. Even in the cold waters of the Salish Sea, you will find Tony and his partner Kaitlin snorkeling and diving with friends, exploring the underwater mysteries and beauty of their summer residence. In winter they flock to the Cascade Mountains with their snowboards to get their fix of frozen-​water sports.
