Young Chefs Academy

I am not a Young Chef, but I loved the Busy Ladies freezer meal class. I signed up for a session shortly after having my baby. The delicious freezer meals have saved my husband and I from many cold, bland dinners! The freezer meals are convenient, healthy, and yummy. Chef Shayna is extremely dedicated to every aspect of this place, and it shows.

Great concept, but not very organized. I signed my 3 and 4 year old up for two classes through a groupon deal. The first class was ok. There seemed to be to many kids in the class for an instructor to manage. They didn’t even finish everything. The second week we had an urgent manner come up and I called and emailed them the day before wanting to reschedule. No one called me back. I received a phone call the night of the class wanting to know why we didn’t show. I informed the girl that I had tried to contact them and no one called me back. She basically said since she didn’t get the message I didn’t contact them (even though I have a copy of the email I sent to prove it). She said she would reschedule me this one time. When we showed up the second time and the kids asked what they were making the instructor didn’t know and they started late and ended early.
The rooms were clean and cute.
My kids did enjoy it, but I would not pay that much to have them go again. Hopefully they were just having a bad month.

I recently took the freezer meals course at YCA and enjoyed it thoroughly. It exceeded my expectations. My girlfriends and I all had a fun afternoon and best of all, we brought home tasty and nutritious meals for our families. The instructors were really friendly, organized, and full of cooking tips. I look forward to signing up for another class. I’m excited to tell my friends about this.

I had my daughter’s 7^th birthday party with YCA today and have to say that I was extremely happy with the outcome. Chef Sam & Megan were really interactive with our group (6 girls around 7 – 8 years old), made the parents /​family members feel involved, and helped the girls be chefs for the day — who all really enjoyed the food! I’d highly recommend YCA for anyone who has a child who likes to cook. My daughter will be taking classes here in the near future.

I had my son try this because of a Groupon. My son is 10 so he did the Jr Chef class on a Saturday morning.
The registration was easy and the staff was friendly when we arrived to check in.
My son loved it and was super excited to cook the items again, himself. It also included a coupon for $ 10 off a future class/​workshop so we signed him up for a special all ages Friday evening class in April and my son is already super excited to go.

My 10 year old son had his first cooking class at Young Chef’s Academy today. He loved it! Class size was small (10 students), the teacher was fantastic. Class was 90 minutes. The children sit around the table and read the recipe. Each child helps with a ingredient, and they all take turns sifting, whisking, kneading, etc… Today they made animal crackers and rocky road bread., Everything was from scratch. If your child has food allergies, they will adjust the recipe for them. At the end of class they get to enjoy their masterpieces! This would not be a good idea if your child is hyperactive. If your child is used to a respectful environment, they will love it! We will definitely be back.
