Sunnyside Bicycles is a full-​service bike shop located in Fresno’s historic Sunnyside neighborhood. We’ve been serving the Central Valley since 2002, and have loyal customers who come from as far away as Merced and Lemoore just for our service. We’re known as the friendly shop in town, and we specialize in taking the intimidation factor out of cycling. We love bikes! We want to help as many people as possible to discover the joy of riding bikes, so we do everything we can to empower people to ride. Just a few examples of what we do:

–We hold flat repair clinics so our customers won’t be stranded out on a ride;

–We lead short fun rides to encourage families to get out and ride;

–We are League of American Bicyclists-​certified instructors so we can teach cyclists how to ride safely in town;

History

Established in 2002.

Owners John and Vanessa McCracken opened their first shop in Madera in 2002, but after 8 years, wanted to be closer to home and family. (John grew up in Tivy Valley, east of Sanger, and Vanessa grew up right here in Sunnyside; both are graduates of Sanger High with family still in the area.) So, in 2010, against the advice of pretty much everyone they talked to, the McCrackens uprooted and moved to Sunnyside and are proud to say they’ve proved all the naysayers wrong! From day one in Sunnyside, word of the McCrackens’ commitment to excellent service and high quality work spread and the rest, well, the rest as they say is history!

Business Owner

Owner John McCracken has a long heritage in the local motorcycle and bicycle culture. Son of former Fresno Kawasaki owner and longtime local racer Jim McCracken, John was practically born on two wheels! John grew up hanging out in his cousin’s bike shop, the Bike Route, and later owned and operated Sanger Bicycles with his mom, June, while in high school. An ardent two-​wheeler, John loves to ride BMX, road bikes, cyclocross, cross country mountain bikes, downhill mountain bikes, city bikes, dirt bikes and Harleys!

In the early years of their marriage, John shared his dream of running a bike shop again with wife Vanessa. Three weeks after that conversation, the McCrackens opened their first store and haven’t looked back! It’s been over 11 years, and they’ve loved every minute of it!
