Went there for dinner, wasn’t very busy. Service was quick and the ambience good. We tried the jalapeño poppers(similar to Peri bites from Nando’s), zinger burger, cheese burger, Ferraro shake and fresh orange-carrot juice. Everything was delicious! The serving size is huge. The fresh juice was a recommendation by the server and I’m glad I tried it! Will definitely go again and remember to take pics next time

gyro was really good! So we’re the masala fries. My boyfriends burger was average but next time we won’t come here for a burger. I’ll definitely come back or even order for delivery! Plenty of chicken on the gyro and plenty of white sauce and hot sauce !

Please note that the address is 179 – 08 Union Turnpike, Fresh Meadows, NY11366. The menu has separate sections for gyro and shawarma sandwiches. Each section has several options which would mean the restaurant would need an unusually high number of spits. I peaked through the kitchen window and only saw two rotating spits, so it unlikely that all of the options listed under the gyro and shawarma sections are always available. I inquired what types of meats were available on the spits, and I was informed chicken and lamb shawarma. I ordered the lamb shawarma, but I was disappointed to be served lamb gyro — NOT shawarma. The gyro sandwich tasted good. The tahini sauce was tasteful. I like the fresh veggies; unfortunately, they were all placed at the bottom of the sandwich, so almost each bite was exclusively meat or veggies. I prefer a balance of the two. The prices are very reasonable. I would have undoubtedly rated Gyro Shack Grill four stars if their menu was more accurate and if the sandwich’s ingredients were more properly distributed throughout the sandwich.

I went here for the first time tonite. I live close by and I was in the mood to have a gryo sandwich. I really wanted gryo world but I didn’t feel like driving there. So I stopped here. It was me and my 3 year old son. We were on our way home from getting some milk and cookies. Daddy and son movie nite. I went in at 9:35. I wasn’t sure what to get there cause I hate to be disappointed. And I asked the guy Hows the gryo here and said really good! So I ordered it and he was really a nice guy. Cool helpful. Told him it’s my first time here. The bill was 8.70 I gave him my card and I said make it 10.00 even. 1.30 tip. One of the owners bro was getting dressed in the kitchen to go out lol I can see him. Nobody’s in the Resturant. I never seen anybody in here when I pass by. That’s why I never came here. But tonite was the ice breaker ;) the nice guy that took my order said to me. Hey I am sorry I charged U 130.00 dollars for tip. And I said it’s ok jus adjust it. NOPROBLEM. It happens. The cool owner Comes out yelling at the nice guy. Wtf?!! U are going to pay from ur pay check! What’s wrong with U! On and on and on… I said HEY U CANJUSADJUSTIT. Is not a big deal! This guy doesn’t know how too. And is like don’t worry it’s voided. I said it’s not. Then he keeps telling the nice guy ur paying for it. So I said jus give me the cash and we are good to go. He said I am not giving u cash. So I said void it. But he doesn’t know how too. And he is running a business. I called my bank… On hold for 25 mins still no answer. The poor nice guy goes and gets money from his bank. ATMANDGIVESMETHE130. Dollars. I said to the owner this is how u run business!!! U make ur workers get money from there ATMCAUSE U DONTKNOWHOWTOVOIDORRUNURSYSTEM. I kept my cool cause of my son. But I was pissed!!! I left the food that I paid for… Gave the nice guy a 10. Dollar tip and said jus throw out the food. I will never come back here again. the owner said to me hey don’t worry we are not going anywhere so ur money is safe here. I said so jus give me the money that’s mine. And he said I don’t who u are. I was like WOW! This guy is something. I wish who ever is reading this was there. U would of lost ur mind ;) lololo … NEVERAGAIN I WILLGOTHEREJUSFORTHAT. We are customers and as customers we keep them in business. U should always respect and appreciate your customers. I do cause I have a business. And my customers mean the WORLDTOME… Thank You

Horrible horrible horrible! I should have taken the Unilocal negative reviews about this place more seriously. Inside was pretty clean and the host was pretty friendly. This is why I give this place 1 star. Without the hospitable host. I wish we could give ratings in the negative(- 10). My wife and I had such high hopes for this place. My wife got the lamb over rice, which was very bland. You would think due to the price. it would be tasty. I wanted to go into the kitchen to cook my own lamb then they would have to charge me less for the dish. My stepson and I each had the chicken shawarma platter. First, there wasn’t enough chicken and the rice wasn’t too good. The fries were soggy. what a waste for the money. We also tried to eat the beef samosa. We took one bite and it was like downing pure salt! I don’t mind having something that’s full of peppers. but this was far from peppery. It’s like they soaked the meat in salt for preservation purposes for so long. when it’s time to serve this meat to customers… customers will leave the place with high blood pressure! We couldn’t even take another bite. I got a check up 2 weeks ago. My blood pressure is absolutely normal. Now I have to go back to the Doctor to see if I will be on one of those hypertension commercials. I mean c’mon now. All we wanted is to get some good food… not be sent to the ER. I would not recommend this place at all. There are so many other spots on Union Turnpike. While I am typing these words. I’m having my 10th glass of water.

Customer service was great, ambiance was great and there was plenty of seating! The food is okay, but it comes quickly, so I can’t complain. I also got their Ferrero Rocher shake, but was disappointed because it seemed watered down. I’ll be back to try more of their food, though, because the place smelled amazing.

Horrible!!! If I could I would give them a negative rating! How the hell do you say that a gyro is a shawarma! Same frozen Lamd and chicken thigh! The meat portion is so small. This is garbage how do they charge you $ 30 dollar for something you can get at a cart for $ 12 with better taste and quality! The sauce are whack. The hot sauce is literally hot sauce the one form a .99 cent store!!! Don’t go to this place waste of money!!!

I just had lunch here and will never return again. The cashier/waiter/bus boy(yes it is the same person) is extremely rude and arrogant. The food is over priced compared to the amount and quality that they offer. I had falafel over rice and my hubby had chicken over rice and both were very bland. The falafel was extremely dry and over fried. I was only able to eat one piece. No wonder this place is empty on the weekend! Definitely not worth your money, time, or appetite.

The food here is delicious. I’ve had many plates and have found them to be very good. The price is higher than a regular gyro cart but it’s worth it given the fact that this is a very clean restaurant and you can actually see that the kitchen is well maintained. There are plenty of tv’s with sports on and other things. I’m a regular at this place and their Lamb Gyro is absolutely delicious. Totally recommend! It’s a fast food restaurant so don’t expect the service of a regular restaurant, is not a place where you do meet ups. It’s just a place where you go when you’re very hungry and want some fast food. The bad: it’s always very silent and feels boring, maybe some background music can make the place more enjoyable. The place is too big and it’s always empty. Don’t put stupid tv shows if there is no sound to listen, what’s the point of seeing tv with no sound?? Just keep sports on… finally. The food is good and cheap so would cares right??? Lol.

This place is a terrible business idea. First off it took 1 year+ to open. I decided to give it another try even after my first experience was horrible. Got the chicken gyro platter. Portions were small. Chicken was tasteless and uncooked and looked pink. No sauces. Plus they add a «tip» to every check even though I ordered at the counter. You can get better gyro meat from street side stands. Also tried a «kati roll» which was horrible. Came with lettuce inside. Overall this place tries doing too much of everything by incorporating afghan/indian/paki/western cuisines all into one establishment but the truth of the matter is they can’t make any of these items even one bit tasteful. I give these guys a few months before they shut down. Every time I walk by there the place is empty.

The food here is super bland. It doesn’t represent the overall quality of the place. The decoration and presentation is real nice, while food quality is mediocre at best. I left a review on their other Unilocal Page, idk why they have two. The burger is chewy and tastes cheap. The chicken sandwich is better. The masala fries are bearable for the first two bites then become overwhelming.

I chanced upon this little place, and was excited about getting the lamb gyro combo, which with soda came out to $ 7.99 each. I step up to the counter, place my order, and the counter guy tells me it’s $ 9.50 or thereabouts, and I tell him that I wanted the combo which included the soda, and he tells me, no, it’s not the soda that costs more, it’s an 18% gratuity!!! No, seriously, come on, really, you have to be kidding, a little hole in the wall without wait service, basically a counter and small tables where I pay an 18% premium for just sitting without being served? IN other words, there was no waitservice, so 18% tip? What ever happened to the tip jar? NO! This has got to be a joke, but yet, the manager came out and I explained that while I am not a lawyer this has to be illegal or criminal sleezy or deceptive, and he seems not to care that anyone with half a brain would say NO!!! NO! I’m not being assigned an 18% tip on basically walk up to the counter and then pick up my food sit down and eat it, when all I want is a gyro and a coke and eat it in peace, but yet, these geniuses seem to think that it’s o.k. I actually felt bad for the counter guy who naturally didn’t make the scam up. I have read a few reviews here that mention it as uncool, and I say it’s outrageous and will contact authorities to determine the legality, and if it’s legal, then it’s new to me, and would encourage you to NOT eat there if there policy is legal. I just recently had a $ 3.27 slice of pizza at Ray’s at 52nd and 7th and am outraged at the bar being lowered by all this crap! The $ 3.27 slice of pizza! YES!!! Back to this Gryro shack grill, as mentioned I felt bad for the counter guy, and wonder, where does this 18% go to? The owners are brilliant and I suggest that maybe it’s a new trend. Hey, the airlines figured out that they could charge me to check $ 100 or whatever to check a bag so why not charge me for sitting in their loser crappy little shwarma falafel whatever place. It’s the principle, or principal, the restaurant business is out of control and desperate for revenue streams! But hey, maybe the food is awesome there, but I left as soon as the scam was revealed. Boycott until they change the policy! Maybe I’ll add surprise my customers with an 18% gratuity or service charge or premium, or handling charge, I’m sure they’d love it and embrace it at once.

When we drove by Gyro Shack on Union Tpke & saw the place, we thought that it was promising. We were excited that a halal fast food restaurant opened up nearby as our options are limited in the Fresh Meadows area. We decided to give it a shot prior to reading any reviews on Unilocal, which is something I don’t ever do. We figured if we didn’t have any expectations, we might like it more. First impressions: — The place has a bit of a trendy feel, it is as cute as a fast food restaurant can be. So the ambience gets a point. It was empty when we got there, but it was also a Thursday night so that seemed pretty normal. — Tons of options for food — Quick service Food: I ordered a tandoori chicken hero(I think that’s what it was called). It was huge, but super light. That was because there were maybe 5 teeny tiny pieces of chicken in it. The rest was all bread. The chicken was hard, it seemed at least a day old it and the hero was practically inedible. I left half of it in the plate. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich. He liked it, but I also felt that it was inedible. The bun was cold, the chicken was stringy and hard to chew. We ordered waffle fries and regular fries. Which were okay, nothing special. So here is where this place loses tons of extra points: as soon as we started leaving, we left as if there was oil sitting on our chests. My husband had to go home and take tums because he had so much heartburn. We left there feeling disgusting from all of the oil in the food. Also, to top it all off, the next morning I had a sore throat. I truly feel that it was from the oil in the food. I then sat there and looked up reviews on Unilocal and this was something others mentioned as well. We really wanted to like this place. It has so much potential. But don’t let the appearance fool you. The food was actually terrible. Skip this place and go to Aria Kabab instead. Sadly, I don’t think I will be going back.
