UG Imports

Not sure where to start. My first firearm purchase and I think they have a customer for life. Being new to the process, Anthony was quick to respond to my emails and gave me precise and no BS answers. They got me a XD40 essentials pack (pistol, 2 mags, lock and case) that was listed as back ordered everywhere I looked, for less than what everyone else listed it at. Pistol alone was retailing at a brick and mortar for $ 600. The above was under $ 500. I processed the order online, like you would expect on Amazon. Each step of the process was updated in their system and email notifications were sent. Met with me in the time frame I needed to get my paperwork done — in and out in 15 minutes. Maiko was an absolutely pleasure — super friendly and was ready for anything to get me along the way. Thanks to the two of them for making my first purchase seamless.

I spoke with Anthony and he set up a time on a Saturday for me to take FSC test, I passed and purchased a Glock 19 which he just happened to have in stock, The experience was great. UG Imports is my go to place for out of state import transfers. I have been using them exclusively, since finding them in 2012. The process is quick, clean and efficient. The transfer fee is reasonable and there is a discount given on multi-​gun purchases.
Anthony is friendly and very knowledgeable of state FFL laws. Unlike most firearm stores, he is not uptight to deal with nor over regulating. I find him always a pleasure to deal with and he tries to accommodate my schedule as well.

I’ve been using UG Imports for several years now and have done multiple FFL transfers (Bought Firearms on-​line and also bought from UGI as well) and want to add they all went pretty smooth. Wanted to give Anthony his Props and say that he is very informative and he makes you feel pretty comfortable doing business with, he has answered many of questions that I was unclear of (Cali firearms laws) and also guided me in my Purchases. Also likes sharing his knowledge about firearms with you. Will definitely do business with in the Future.

I’ve already done three out of state purchase transfers here. Anthony is as good as it gets. He handles all of his business by appointment only, and uses email & text messaging to arrange appointments. He’s thorough, knows the rules, and made the transfers easy for out of state sellers who were unfamiliar with and nervous about selling to California residents. Sales were completely painless and he also handled administering the HSC test and certificate. Smooth transactions every time!

After shopping around and deciding on a AR, I needed to find an FFL in order to complete my transaction. When searching for an FFL in my area, UG Imports came to be the closest one to me.
Since UG Imports was close, they were also had the better deal in charges in transferring firearms. **NOTICE**: You would need to setup an appointment to do ANY PPTs, FFLs, or purchases off their website. It’s a very small office space, but that’s the reason they can offer great pricing.
The process was quick (except for the 10 day DROSing period) and painless. Each appointment I had was no more than 10 minutes. I had two, one for transfer and one for pick up. Customer service is friendly, quick, and right to the point.
If you’re looking for a place to do any firearm FFLs or PPTs, consider UG Imports. Oh, they have a check-​in offer for 1 free 2^nd item transfer, which I still need to use.

The following review was drafted up over a year ago on my cell phone, but I never went onto the site to publish it until now. These are my views from over a year ago, and hopefully UG Imports is still the same post-​Newtown.
UG Imports is a great place to go for all your firearms transfer needs. Whether you place an order through their website, or you are doing an FFL transfer, they have you covered. They are very easy to work with, and accommodate your schedule. I’ve done two transfers here, one purchased from them, the other a transfer from an out of state online retailer. Both times have been super easy and trouble free (although it helped that I did my homework and don’t have a criminal background!)

Read all the good reviews that thought they might be a good FFL to use for online purchases. Contacted them twice through email and once over the phone (left VM). No contact back at all. I know since Dec things have been crazy but come on, nothing?
Maybe customer service isn’t as import when you have high demand but we’ll see once things settle down.
I won’t be using them even if they are cheap and close.

This is the way I believe a gunstore in CA in the 21^st century should operate. Unfortunately this is the only one of it’s kind. Like many of us born in the mid to late eighties and even the 90’s and late 70’s the concept of shopping offline is alien and somewhat disconcerting. But if your’e buying a gun in these united states and especially California you better believe you can’t merely surf and click your way to ballistic bliss.
That is where UG can fill the void. Like i said literally two sentences ago, the price you see online will never, ever ever be the price you pay in CA… ever. The lowest a place will charge you for the DROS and Transfer is 75 bucks and that’s the bare minimum, so add that on before considering buying anything and expect to spend a few extra bucks to support a local business (it’s worth it). That being said UG really delivers on price and service. I can say this without ever being within a 10 mile radius of their store front. (I can’t speak to the store’s selection as I’ve never seen it but as far a local gunstores go they have a good online selection.)
I think this is very convenient for the firearm enthusiast who knows what they want, like myself. I research my purchases meticulously online, especially firearms before buying. I’ve decided what I want and what I’m prepared to pay for it, this is when it becomes tricky usually. Local shops will somtimes charge 15 to 25% on what the online price is, the reason to avoid the Old West Gun Room is the subject for another review however.
I’ve been to or bought from almost all the gun stores in the Bay Area, I’m ashamed to admit I’ve even bought a firearm from Big 5 in Alameda.
I know what stores quote prices over the phone and which don’t. The ones that don’t annoy me to death, Triple A in Vallejo is the only one who won’t quote prices and actually have decent prices. And all of the other stores never check their emails, so if you don’t call them during business hours you’ll never get an answer and if they don’t have the exact gun and package you’re looking for, good luck finding out what it might cost from their establishment unless you actually come in with an hour to waste.
I wanted a specific, commercial (dirt-​common) rifle in one of two calibers, and i was looking for it below a specific price point, the lowest I found in store was 550.00 before tax, dros and all that jazz. I sent a quick email out to UG, they responded admirably quick, still apologizing for the delay and gave me a complete breakdown of charges to the cent so I knew what I’d be paying out the door and it was still cheaper than all my usual haunts from Petaluma to San Jose and everything in between. Simple, effective and courteous. That’s all you need to know. And if you’re real particular they’re open and friendly about online orders. Though naturally they will have to take their fee. But it’s as low as it gets in CA so don’t sweat it.

If you’re looking for a personal Arms Dealer, UG Imports is the way to go. They are not a retail gun shop but they are a small FFL Dealer that can handle all Firearm transactions like Private Party Transfers and online purchase transfers. I purchased a firearm on GunBroker and had it shipped to UGI for the transfer. Their website is super helpful and explains the process thoroughly. If you have any questions about a particular gun before you buy it UGI is very helpful with answering questions.
When the item arrived at UGI they promptly sent an email to schedule an appointment. They are great with communicating and getting back to you. Their transfer fees are the cheapest you’ll find in the area.
They operate in a small corner office in a business park. Transfers are done by appointment only so you get one on one service. It was a refreshing change from the usual gun shop transfers where things can take forever if its busy or if the staff isn’t experienced. UG Imports is good at what they do and they do it quickly. I was in and out in 10 mins.
They don’t stock any firearms but they can get you almost anything (well anything our lovely State allows you to have). Their prices are very competitive, actually they are the cheapest I’ve found in the East Bay. If you already know what you want just order it from UGI. If you need to handle different guns to decide then go to a retail gun shop.

They share a small corner office with just enough space the get the job done. Customer service was excellent in terms of speed and completeness. I am definitely coming here to get all my FFL transfers done. They have extremeley competitive rates compared to everything in the East Bay domain. Don’t hesitate to make this your go-​to place for FFL and PPT needs.
PROTIP: While they don’t keep any guns in stock, they will do their best to order anything you need at competitive rates.
