I’ve never been to a deaf school before but when I stopped by for their open house, everyone was so friendly. I just started learning sign language. You can say, 1st Grader Borderline Kindergarten status. Big and clean campus and friendly people!

I had been told by several people about the high quality of CSDF’s theatre group, and I am now delighted to report that I couldn’t agree more. I went to one of the high school plays tonight at CSDF with one hearing friend who knows virtually no ASL, many fellow beginning ASL students, and one Deaf friend. There was something for everyone. You really didn’t need to know any ASL to follow the play, which was very well done. For those still learning ASL, it was a great opportunity to see it in action. The CSDF students were creative and obviously enjoyed what they were doing. The smiles were as big off the stage as during the play. The performers socialized with the audience afterwards and were patient enough with my slow comprehension and signing for me to finally be able to express my appreciation for the play. They had apparently noticed me laughing throughout. The way they incorporated the subtitles to allow the learners in the audience to follow along with the story was fabulous. Nobody was left out. Without making fun of anyone, there were even a couple of gentle jokes about the difficulty of following some of the signing. Impressive production, and I will be back every chance I get.
