Rosehip Nail Spa

I’ll start by saying that the manicurist that did my nails was very nice, as were the other employees I encountered during my visit. It was pretty evident as soon as I sat down however that she was new– manicurists kept stopping by her station, critiquing and giving pointers. Normally I’d have no problem with this, I was happy after leaving the salon, however just 3 days after getting this manicure the gel started chipping. The photo I posted is 6 days after the manicure and every nail on my right hand is either chipped or lifting. I get gel manicures regularly and have never experienced this so soon! Kind of bummed.

Loved my nails by Ann! She did a beautiful job! Friendly staff and very clean! Really take their time to make sure things are done to your liking!

I like a lot of things about this salon (and most of the staff is lovely) but my last experience was very poor and I did not receive a response to multiple attempts to resolve the issue.
I booked a pedicure in April, shortly after a hospital discharge. After a serious health scare I just needed a bit of a pick me up. I also needed a manicure but did not want to sit for that length of time — plus my preferred nail tech (Cindy) was not working that day. Since I was sick, I’d removed my prior set (hospitals need to access your clean nails to track oxygen levels) weeks earlier. They were in pretty good shape and I really wanted to hold off for Cindy to do a proper set.
SEVERAL different people came by with a hard sell to add a manicure during my pedicure. I let them know I didn’t feel well and didn’t want a long appointment SEVERAL times. After the 10^th or so time someone asked me, I caved. That’s on me, but it would be nice to not be badgered into a service I already declined. Lena insisted she could do most of it while my pedicure was taking place and I rationalized that it’d save me a return trip so why not.
It turned out to be one of the worst manicures I’ve ever had. She cut me *many* times, put the tips on *very* crooked, put the acrylic on extremely thick and gloppy. and then repeatedly RAMMED a drill under my nail, destroying and separating my natural nails from the tips and supergluing my nails to my skin. This process was also painfully slow. She apologized repeatedly but continued to do a horrible job, fixing nothing, and there came a point that I really just wanted her to be done so I could leave. I was so focused on the pain that I didn’t notice the huge gaps underneath the tips (or just how badly the set looked) until I got home. I then called the salon *and* sent a detailed e-​mail asking to please have Cindy fix them ASAP. I got no response.
After a week, I had no choice but to go elsewhere to have them fixed. The repair actually took two visits and three weeks to fully repair. Since my fingers were pretty sensitive from the botched job, they suggested I let the nails grow for a couple weeks before tearing them off completely. The first visit was to fill all the large gaps under the tips with superglue to avoid fungus and additional breakage — and the second visit required every single nail be completely removed and redone. So after three total manicures, I achieved what should have been done in one.
I do not know if this was a one-​off bad performance coupled with a one-​off lack of response, but it sucked. It’s even more of a bummer since the location is so convenient and most of the ladies do a good job. I will keep it at three stars to balance out every appointment, but I am still soured enough by this experience to have no interest in returning. :-/​
In summary, my high level review of the joint:
— Cindy does great acrylic nails here (tho it is unclear if she is still full-​time here)
— Lena does not.
— Pedicures are good.
— No one at the salon is strong in design.
— They hard sell additional services and upgrades to an unprofessional degree.
— I do not recommend esthetician services
— Customer service from management could be better, tho their receptionist (Shanna) is fabulous.

UPDATE: I received a couple voicemails from the salon immediately after posting this review. It doesn’t really fly with me to only respond once the issue becomes public (and not the multiple times I attempted to sort it out privately for a MONTH prior). I think I was already (extremely) generous to keep 3 stars on the rating; it will not get any higher.

I liked their service. Beverages included. We were able to have three sets of hands and feet done at the same time! However, it is expensive compared to others in the area. You have to catch the discount days and take cash for those discounts!

My search for a good and not so expensive nail salon has come to an end with Rosehip Nail Spa. I have been here twice so far and had good service both the times.
I like how they have a convenient online appointment system. You can also chose your manicurist while making the appointment. So I made an appointment for a Friday evening for a gel manicure. Since it was my first time, I did not have any preferences for the manicurist. Parking is easily available as it is located in a strip mall. The salon had a very clean ambiance as I walked inside. It was very spacious and everything looked new. I was asked to put down my name and choose a color. I waited for a few minutes before I was taken inside.
My first time — I was helped by 2 ladies — Tracy and Van. Van helped to remove the existing gel polish and then Tracy started working on it. I showed Tracy the particular design I had in mind and she came very close to the exact design. She did a great job.
My second experience (I forgot her name) was as good as the first one. The second time I got myself both a pedicure and manicure. I really liked the way they use bowls for every individual customers rather than the same tub that comes with the pedicure chair to soak your feet. This is more sanitized and clean.
I am happy that my nails found a great place. I will definitely recommend this to all my friends.

VANESSA IS THE BEST!!! SHE SAVED MY EYELASHES AND MY PRIDE!!! Basically, I went to a place in Fremont and got the eyelash extensions done 6 days ago, it was a nightmare… it was so painful because a lot of the eyelash extensions were either glued to my inner eye rim or my eyeline and not my own lashes; also, a lot my natural lashes were glued together too. Needless to say, I knew I must get these bad eyelash extensions removed ASAP. I came across Rosehip Nail Spa on Unilocal,and decided to take my chances, since I was desperate to removed the eyelash extensions.
SO GLAD I FOUND VANESSA!!! She is extremely professional, patience, and soft-​handed during the entire eyelash extensions removal process. She was able to save me from the miserable situation & spent more than an hour to remove the bad eyelash extensions without any pain or discomfort!!! And keep in mind… i had chunks of dried-​up glue that glued my own natural lashes with the eyelash extensions! I just can’t thank her enough!!!
Vanessa is also very friendly, understanding, and funny too!!! I would give her more stars on Unilocal if I could!

From the moment I walked in I loved the service and atmosphere of Roseship. I was not let down when I picked a simple color and asked Heidi to do her magic on my nails. She did just that and brought my nails back to life. The pedicure was also amazing as Michelle was very gentle but got the job done. To top it off I was offered fruit, juice and champagne. I will definitely be coming back.

For all of your pedicure needs and wants, Rosehip needs to be your go-​to nail salon! Rosehip offers different pedicure options from a classic pedicure all the way to supremo of all pedicures.
Booking an appointment is easy, by either calling in or booking online. This salon is usually open until 7:30p so if you need a late appointment, there are a few spots usually available.
My husband and I are huge fans of the Luxury Pedicure. The highlight of this option is the 20 minute massage that they spend on your feet. Something about getting your feet massaged, truly makes the experience worth while. Pure bliss…

I am changing my review of this salon. I have never been a fan of the public break-​up, but I feel this needs to be put out there before someone else has an experience like I did.
First of all, let me point out that when you walk in the door there is a sign posting a warning. It basically says that if you have a complaint about your service that it is your responsibility to report it before your service is over, and you would still be responsible for paying for said service. This is why I am changing my review rather than take it to the management.
I have been visiting this salon for a few months now getting acrylic fills every two weeks. The staff have always been very friendly and accommodating and have always done an excellent job until the last few times. About 3 appointments ago, I started having problems with the polish peeling from my nails. I have been a licensed cosmetologist for over 20 years and have worn acrylic nails for most of those years. I have NEVER had polish peel away from acrylic nails, so I started paying closer attention to my service the next time. At my next fill appointment, I noticed that the primer, as well as the top coat, were #1-​not in their original containers and #2-​had particles floating in the bottles. When I asked about this I was told that it was fine. I still had the same problem with the polish peeling from my nails, and then my acrylic started lifting from my nails. This is only reason #1 for this review.
The spa I normally go to for my Brazilian waxes closed down recently, so just out of convenience sake I made an appointment here. HOLY COW-​where do I begin with this one? I was taken into the room about 15 minutes late. To make an excruciating story short, I’ll just give the highlights. The waxer had NO idea how to wax. I was actually questioning whether or not this person actually held the license to wax someone. She did EVERYTHING wrong. She double dipped the wax sticks. She pulled the wax off straight out instead of with the skin. She even put the damn stick IN HER MOUTH while she was waxing. WTH? I was literally speechless when leaving, but that still really wasn’t enough for me to give a one-​star review. The worse part was after I left. I went to the movies with my husband, and when using the restroom noticed that I was BRUISED and BLEEDING after this mess. Having read the sign I mentioned earlier, I figured it would do absolutely nothing to go back and report this mess to the manager. I figured they would just assume I was trying to get my money back which was the least of my worries at this point.
The bottom line is this. The staff is ok for manicures and pedicures, they seem to know what they are doing. Beyond that, I truly question the licensure and adherence to California State Board practices. Let’s just say in the frame holding all of their licenses, I don’t remember seeing a cosmetologist or esthetician license.

Great relaxing experience, love their pedicure bowls and scrubs, everything smelt wonderful. Got the essential mani pedi, loved the experience staff was professional and everything was clean. Will definitely come again. Also love the products they use, they’re natural and smell great!

I’ve come here on a few occasions, and everytime they’ve be absolutely wonderful. Today Tim and Lynn took such good care of me. Tim was super detailed and made sure my nails looked perfect. Lynn gave me one of the best leg massages and my toes are ready for summer.

They did a fantastic job. After I sat down I was served with water. They also have a self service drink table with coffee and teas. Aside from free drinks, My nails look great, they listened when I asked to cut my nails a particular way. Even double checked to make sure the nail was clean and all the excess cuticles were cut off.
Aside from the great service, they squeezed my friend and I in even though they were busy. They stayed open an hour late due to so many people getting their nails done. That’s awesome they stayed open to accommodate everyone. We all know how much it sucks to stay at work after its closing hours, but these ladies didn’t mind.
They were also grateful for their tip. They didn’t say it was too much or too little. Best part they all spoke English and didn’t talk to each other in a different language I couldn’t understand. Thanks again ladies :)

My coworker put me on to this place. I wanted to get a regular pedicure. Conveniently, we were going on a Tuesday in which you can get 15% off when you pay with cash.
As you walk in, you can immediately distinguish this nail salon from the other ones you see in San Jose. The interior was pretty spacious and bright, the massage chairs looked new, there were a ton of color selections lined up on the wall, and there was a lot less gossip chatter going on. I wish I asked for the name of the lady that did my nails, but she was really nice and attentive. I got a basic pedicure which included buffing, a 10 minute massage, and a polish. The normal price for such a service is $ 29, but I was able to get it for $ 24 and some change with the discount. Clean bathroom and waters or green teas offered to you — I would definitely go back (and I wish it was closer).

I’ve been coming to rosehip nail spa for about a year and a half. The owner knows me by name and has always been very polite. I feel bad for giving them only 2 stars but my last manicure was terrible. So terrible that I don’t think I will ever go back. My nails are so messed up.
I went in last Wednesday at 6:30pm for a manicure and pedicure. The woman who did my pedicure was fine, the massage felt more like she was just putting lotion on my legs and she really didn’t pumice but the polish was fine.
The manicure is where it went totally bad. I had gel on my nails and I wanted to take it off for just regular polish. She was so impatient, she rushed through taking off the gel. She even cut my pinky finger with the nail file because she was trying to go to quick. She kept filing and putting more nail polish remover on my nails. Instead of putting the remover on my nails and waiting 10 minutes. Ultimately, she scratched up my nails so badly and didn’t even get off all the gel before polishing them.
As seen in the pictures, the manicure was bumpy and when I took the polish off, my nails are destroyed.
Also, the sign on the front says that Tuesday — Thursday are 15% off all services, but it’s only 15% off if you pay in cash. The sign doesn’t say that.
Ultimately, I’m giving two stars because I really like this place and the owners are very nice. It’s too bad they have such inconsistent work.

4.5 stars but rounding up. Rosehip is a super cute nail spa in Fremont, and their pedicure lasted me for a good month before I got the tiniest of chips on the polish on the big toe. They are located all the way in the back part of the plaza. My friend and I came for pedicures on a Sunday afternoon, and they were able to accommodate us with little notice. We each got the Essential Pedicure ($ 34 + $ 5 for oPI Infinite Shine 2,
) — it’s definitely worth it to pay the $ 5 extra for the Infinite Shine if you don’t get your nails done that frequently and there is a color you like, because that polish definitely repels chips and lasts a lot longer than the normal polish! The reason my real rating is 4.5 stars is that my nail technician was a little rougher on the cuticle trimming than other technicians have been, and there were a few times I felt like she was really really close to cutting too much skin off. Luckily, after the aggressive cuticle trimming, the rest of the pedicure went much more smoothly, and overall it was enjoyable. I liked that they use bowls instead of using the same foot tub, which is more sanitary. The spa itself is also really clean, and has a relaxing atmosphere. You receive 10% if you’re a first time customer, so it’s definitely worth it to check this place out once. I would love to come back, but they are pricier than a lot of other nail salons I’ve been to previously ($ 5-​$ 10 more for their regular price). The color selection for polishes is ok, but they do offer the OPI Infinite Shine 2 line, which is the first time I’ve seen it at a nail salon (or maybe I just never noticed.). Parking was easy since the lot for this plaza is large.

Very easy to make appointments over the phone. The receptionist is very nice and polite. The interior is very chic, spacious, and clean. There are plenty of stations and technicians. I like that the technician that is working with you knows your name. Nice personal touch!
They have a great selection of nail polishes to choose from. Also there is a nice little beverage and snack bar to help yourself. The restrooms were very clean too. I liked their spa chairs. I enjoyed a nice massage while I got my pedi.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and I would recommend it to people who are looking for a slightly upscale salon for that pampering environment.

I came in here the other day based off of the reviews on here. I didn’t have an appointment, but they were still able to take me in about 30 mins. The owner was the one who helped me, her name is Natalie. She was so sweet. The vibes in the spa are so inviting and comfy. A very cute and chic nail spa.
It is so clean and modern in here. If you want to spoil yourself and actually relax while getting your nails done… come here! Natalie is my favorite, I will always come here to get my nails done from now on!!!

I started coming here about 6 months ago, but I’ve been seeing Carrie for at least 3 years. She always does the best job with my manicure, and she always makes me laugh! I see her every 3 weeks, and my nails are still perfect when I come to see her. If my nails didn’t grow so fast, they would probably be fine for at least another week. She is the best, and I love how she’s honest about what will look nice and what won’t.
I’m glad that Carrie has moved to this nail salon, because it is in a nice area, and high quality products are used. Also, the staff is a great bunch! Tammy, Maya, and Lani have done really well with my pedicures, and Cici has done a great job on my manicure when Carrie wasn’t available. Shannon the receptionist is super nice, and checks to see if you’re thirsty or want a snack.
Overall, this place is great and I would definitely recommend it!

If you’re feelin’ like being fly on a budget, come to Rosehip! They’re beautiful, clean, and affordable!
They accept walk ins but I’d say make an appointment to be sure. When we came in, we were able to get in really quickly because of our appointment. And options! They have so many options! They have lots of different services — manicure, pedicures, facials, waxing, etc. and different kinds for each one. We chose to get manicures and they have plenty of colors to choose from, whether you choose to have gel, shellac, or regular nail polish.
After choosing our colors (I’m indecisive and took a long time — their patience was appreciated!), we sat and were quickly offered a drink (apple cider, tea, iced tea, water). Ann did my acrylic manicure and she was awesome. She really took the time to make sure every curve was perfect and that she didn’t miss any spots. Even though the place was closing and we were the last ones in there, she didn’t rush.
My friend had Jessica doing her nails and she seemed pretty good too. She took the time to create a nice design for her. She was patient about it too — my friend didn’t like the original color when she started so she used another and she did 2 designs before deciding the 3^rd one was the best.
Not to mention, you can pretty much get discounts anytime you come here. If you’re a new customer, you can get 10% off. But if you’re a regular, you can get 10% off if you pay cash too! Not a bad deal!
