You already know that Quality Tune-​Up is great at oil changes, tune-​ups, and smog checks. What you may not know is that our ASE certified technicians also perform complete car care including brakes, suspension, radiator/​cooling systems, diagnostics, engine performance repairs (including check engine lights), electrical and starting repairs, air conditioning service and repair, and much, much more. We do everything but tires and alignments!

If you have a problem, one of our technicians will be able to fix it for you. In fact, several of our service technicians are ASE Certified, nationally recognized experts in their field.

P: S– I don’t write a lot of reviews and for some reason Unilocal does not display the ones I do, even when they are fully positive. Lets see if this one is displayed :-)
My husband took our van to the shop for oil change last week and he, as course of conversation, asked if they could take a look at a problem with our van’s automatic doors. The passenger doors were not opening when the engine was on. They offered to check but mentioned that they may not be able to fix anything big. Apparently when they ran some analysis and reset something, the problem went away.
The Honda dealer was asking for an exorbitant price even to take a look at the problem but Quality Tune-​up did not even charge us since we were regulars there and it was a minor fix.
Talk about customer service– They rock. I would highly recommend them.

Awesome customer service, very friendly. I recently moved to the East Bay and did not know of any places to take my car to get an oil change. I went on Unilocal and this was one of the first places that showed up close to my house with great reviews so I decided to bring my car here. No doubt the second I walked in friendly greetings and Victor answered all questions and explained everything in details. Highly recommend bringing your car here!

This is a review for my girlfriends fiat 500 that she always puts off on getting done and I have to constantly nag her to get her oil and filter changed for about 5 months. Well, anyway the service here is really great and they even took care of her car when she called like an hour before they closed! Cool people and cool service thanks!

They performed the period maintenance well on a Nissan and did not try to up sell me. The interior was left a little dirty, but that is not a deal breaker.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I took my 2005 corolla here with a coupon and they told me they would not honor the coupon because the corolla needs synthetic oil (B.S.). They then told me I needed to replace the air filter and they pulled out a really old looking dirty one and said it was from my car. When all was said and done I looked at my invoice, which was $ 149, I saw that they charged me for an oil filter which should be free with an oil change. The price went from $ 20 to $ 149 for a basic oil change for a basic car. I’m never coming to this fraudulent business again.

They were really quick and nice! Came in on a Sunday with a screw in a tire an hour before closing. They patched it up within 20 mins and only charged $ 15. Great service!

Came here for a smog test. The checkin was quick and the people are very nice. They have a small waiting area where you can sit while they service your vehicle. Rates are clearly listed on a board.

I’ve been coming to Quality Tune-​Up Shops in Fremont for several years for SMOG and minor repairs (break jobs, tune-​ups, etc). They have always been very fast and professional I like that the all the mechanics will says hello especially to my 4 year son. The pricing is in line with anything I have been able to fine anywhere else.

I’ve been taking both my cars to these guys for a while now. They have great service and gets me in and out in no time. Never had to wait more than an hour even with a full house. I would recommend this place to anyone. These guys always recommend service needed on my car but never pushed into the service if not needed at the time.

As a long time Fremont resident, I can honestly tell you that this place is the BEST repair shop around. Don’t bother going any where else. Mark and his staff take their time to explain the problem, the fix and always works with my budget. Don’t be fooled by the fools with bad reviews. My Chevy Tahoe has 299,000 miles on it and its still kicking.

Nice guys and do a good job. It’s always hard to find a car mechanic where you don’t feel ripped off. Seem quite genuine in telling me what I did and didn’t need to replace for my 90k tune up. Just took S bit long.

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!
This place is a complete rip off! I will never bring my car here again. I have cam here previous time with numerous cars. At first everything was ok they were helpful. But as time went on you think you would get better service nope not here! I was having problems with my previous car over heating. I brought my car here because I had no problems with them before this. They had to run a test on it cost me $ 70 dollars they said everything was ok and told me to replace a certain part so I did. Nothing changed brought my car back again and told them it didn’t fix it. Mark the shop owner told me he had to run the test again and it would be another $ 70 me and my brother said you did the previous day why would you again and change me all over again that’s ridiculous he said «you can take it somewhere else if you like» very rudely. So said whatever I need my car for work do whatever you gotta do so he did and they did some more test did some work on the vehicle said it was fixed. The problem got a little better at first and over a few days time was right back to where it was before these people are rude and scam artist. There not looking out for you only after your money!!! STAY AWAY!!!
after a few years went buy of not going there and owning two different cars I started just getting an oil change there for my yukon everything went fine the first few times. I just took it there this weekend to get another oil change. I always just get regular but the first guy comes out and says «so are we switching to synthetic this time» I said «no not this time». So he pulled my car forward then I go inside with my son and then mark sales me on switching to synthetic. He says” I’ll give you a great deal but we do have to flush the engine”. I say ok he says it will be $ 105 I say ok. Then after sitting down for a few moments I look at the prices posted on the wall and see that it Dosent all add up so I ask different guy to cancel the synthetic oil and just keep it regular but he say it’s to late they already started. So I’m screwed there. Then after leaving and feeling like I got ripped off I look at the quote they gave me and notice the GREAT DISCOUNT was maybe $ 5 if that!!! Straight scam artist! And after doing research come to find out a engine flush isn’t even a requirement when switching oils they just threw that in there to add some extra money to there pockets! MARK the shop owner seems nice but is rude and a scam artist!

When you first come up to the place, it’s basically a gas station converted into a shop. There is an old Asian man servicing and a very nice soft spoken gentleman at the front. He was very nice and told him I was working in a few hours. He took me in right away.(mind this is at 815am on a thurs) I knew the oil was badly low and came back and recommended the oil flush. 30.00 more. When it was all said and done, I got an additional cabin air filter all for 329.00. I left satisfied and felt they were an honest place.

Came here for a quick smog check; It was mid-​week so I didn’t make an appointment but they were able to see me quickly. As soon as I pulled up, Mark came to assist me. He asked, «synthetic oil right?» and as a person with little knowledge of cars, it was easy for me to just assume & agree with him. He’s the mechanic, right?
Anyways, I called my fiancé later & he confirmed that we use regular oil, not synthetic. So, I went back to Mark & told him. As others have mentioned, Mark will try to upsell the synthetic oil, but he certainly isn’t pushy about it if you tell him otherwise.
I was in and out in about a half hour, and it cost me $ 35 including tax. They have a small, but comfy waiting area. A couple days after our oil change, we took our car in to a different auto shop for a pre-​purchase inspection. The mechanic there told us that the the filter (?) needed to be replaced because whoever did our oil change didn’t seal it properly, or it’s damaged, or something. The mechanic told us to take it back to wherever we got our oil change & have it fixed. Dunno if this is legit or not as I wasn’t too confident in that auto shop, but still worth noting.

Myself and my Family have been using them for years. We noticed that the prices were going up up up and away.
I desperately needed my vehicle serviced recently and I had called prior to coming down to picking up my vehicle, I asked how much the total was. And the price was 50 dollars more. I asked why and M@rk said said his mechanic handed him a «ticket» late in day (the previous day) and it was unaccounted for. So I got stuck with 50 dollars more. That’s a lot after paying hundreds of dollars.
He then yelled at me in front of other customers. M@rk was really rude and unprofessional. Seriously? After Myself and family comes to you for years.

I’ve been coming to Quality Tune-​Up Shops in Fremont for the better part of the last year and a half, since I’ve been spending more time in the area. My usual shop (Alvin’s in Milpitas,
) is a tad far when I need to do simple oil changes or minor repairs, so this location is convenient in a pinch.
So far, I’ve only done oil changes, so I can’t vouch for their major service, but I can safely say that when the day comes that I do need more substantial work done, I would not hesitate to return. No matter what time I drop by, be it on weekdays before work in the morning or smack dab in the middle of a Saturday afternoon, there is NEVER a line. Work is prompt and efficient, and you are on your merry old way within 15 – 20 minutes.
Mark, the gentleman running the shop (I’m not sure whether he is the owner or the manager), is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about cars, and always goes out of his way to greet you once he sees your vehicle pull up. He also doesn’t gouge you on pricing either. It’s always been a flat $ 30 for an oil change on my compact sedan (not sure how much it would be for a larger car). The only oh-​so-​slight gripe is that he always tries to upsell synthetic and/​or «high mileage» oil, but just a simple, «No,» and he won’t say anything more.
In closing, everyone knows that auto repair shops are some of the most unscrupulous, if not downright corrupt businesses out there, and it is good to know that places like Quality Tune-​Up Shops still exist. It’s still a shock to me how most other shop owners just don’t understand the notion that honesty and service with a smile will ultimately make you far more successful than ripping people off. I’m glad this place gets the message.
