I used to shop here by myself but on one weekend, I decided to come here with my daughter to check out some school shoes. I «politely» asked if they have a size of this particular shoes that my daughter liked and if this can be possibly checked in their system. And she replied, in a rude way, whatever you see there are all we have, ok? As calm as I am, I said, I see, thank you, then. Would you have this on another branch? And she sighed… and a smirk and said, what, what style, just choose a style so I can check! as if I am bothering her?! Take note, there was NO customer that hour so I really find it unprofessional as this Sales Associate does not want Sales, I guess. I wanted to buy some other style for me and my daughter but just left Not worth to spend my money on «rude» people here. Both the Sales Associates that day(Weekend) were just too busy to themselves, need major Customer Service Skills and I just hope Management would take a look on this.

I happen to like this Payless, despite the opinions of the previous reviewers. I’ve bought the most shoes here out of all the Payless stores, as they always seem to have great discounts on shoes in my size. I heart size 6 shoes that are less than $ 10!!! As with the other two Payless stores near Fremont, I’ve bought shoes and picked up online orders here. My experiences with the staff here have been very enjoyable, as they are approachable and accommodating. For instance, if a certain shoe is not in your size, they will scan your item of interest and check to see if it’s available in your size at another store location. The last time I scanned for a pair of pumps in size 6 instead of 6.5, the cashier not only printed a list of three other stores that had my size(and the number of shoes they had in stock), but at the bottom of the receipt was a coupon for $ 4 off my purchase of that specific shoe! And with their low prices, that is a steal! Since I frequent this Payless the most, I sometimes notice when certain brands get fazed in. They started selling Zac & Zoe a while back, which is a brand that has good quality for its price(especially if it’s on sale!). With regards to heels, Fioni has been a contender for reliable, classy, yet affordable heels. Another brand is Christian Siriano for Payless, which really does look like designer shoes for a fraction of the cost(okay, maybe a like a amateur designer, but they look good nonetheless!). And I recently fell in love with the wedges from Dexter because their wide size fits my feet sooooo well. And with wedges, you don’t have those awkward missteps when climbing stairs! I also like this Payless because it’s right across from Safeway, close to Target, and across the street from Food Maxx, so I can pair my grocery shopping with shoe shopping! Who could ask for more? c:

This Payless store deserves the one-star; it has the most unfriendly staff & negative customer service — in this economic climate seems like these guys are more interested in ‘just doing their job of opening & closing the store’ than actually work with & retain new customers. No wonder these guy are going under.

This review goes for all Payless Shoesource stores. The people there are usually fairly nice for a find your own shoes type of store which is cool. The problem is the quality. If you are looking for shoes that you are planning to get messed up and throw away soon, then this is the place to go. For example, I needed shoes to go ride an all terrain vehicle in the mud in Hawaii. No way I am taking my expensive Nike shoes! I am getting some cheap disposable shoes! If you plan on keeping the shoes for any longer, be prepared to suffer the consequences of stinky feet and scuff marks. My friends and I agree that Payless shoes are notorious for getting stinky after long wear.
