Dr. Bates and Donna the receptionist are kind people who are great at what they do and serve you with a smile. Ever since I’ve been going to Dr. Bates, my neck and shoulder pain have almost disappeared. I’m very happy to have found them.

If you’ve come far enough to read this comment, don’t think just book your appointment. First off, it’s a trifecta of services. Donna Bates, the receptionist, greets you with a smile and begins your healing. She’s warm, inviting and one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met. I’ve been a patient for years now and talking to Donna is a mentally healing experience that releases your daily tension all on its own. Dr. Bates is fantastic. I’ve had many chiro’s and often am met with scans, x-​rays, devices, and more where you sit there for an hour or more and are told just how messed up you are and how you need to come in weekly for 6 months to correct all the problems. He does none of that. He listens, he uses his experienced hands and many years of helping people to hone in one the problem immediately, without taking the human element of the experience out of it. I’ve never trusted someone with my care more. Finally, recently their daughter started working there offering massages with a wide range of techniques and experience. I’ve seen her twice now and just like her father, she knows exactly what to do and how to fix it as if they are more in-​tune with my body than I am.
As if you can’t tell by now, I’m extremely satisfied with their amazing service and care, and would jump at the opportunity to recommend them. In fact, I’ve moved since starting with the Bates family, and even though I drive an hour to see them, it’s worth every minute of it.

I have all kinds of injuries due to work and sports — from hips, back and shoulders and Dr. Bates always gets me back in shape. Most recently, my back was twitching/​pulsating so much at night at different spots that I can’t sleep. I am almost close to normal after 1 visit and definitely will recommend him to anyone. You’ll feel at home at their practice with Donna at the reception and their daughter Pamela, specializing in therapeutic massages in their newly renovated office.

I was going to Dr. Bates for a few months now due to my lower back ache. Ever since he worked on me, I have not had any pain! It’s a great friendly family business. His wife is the receptionist and their daughter Pam is an amazing massage therapist! Their family friendly environment is so warm and welcoming.

This doctor is really awsome. He knows exactly what the problem is and fixes it with ease. The doctor is very professional and friendly too. The whole experience was just awsome.

I wanted to update my review to include Pamela Bates, a massage therapist who works at Bates Chiropractic. I have seen Pamela a couple times now and she’s fabulous! I have had chronic psoas pain for about four or five years. Pamela is an expert in therapeutic massage that makes a lasting difference. She worked to release my psoas and gently remove built up scar tissue and I was shocked at what a difference she made after just one one-​hour session!
With Dr. Bates’ gentle and precise adjustments combined with Pamela’s skillful massage techniques, I have made a rapid recovery. My pelvis and hips have finally straightened out after several injuries and I am able to walk straight and work out again! Bates Chiropractic is your one-​stop shop for healing. Make an appointment for a massage followed by a chiropractic adjustment! You won’t be sorry you did! Another bonus is that their office is the happiest place on earth other than Disneyland! They are some of the nicest folks you’ll ever meet! :-)

The Bates dream team has expanded! Their daughter Pam has started offering massage therapy and it is clear that healing runs in the family. Her massages are out of this world and she’s trained in many styles. After even a short massage the adjustment from Dr. Bates is even better. She’s flexible in how much time you would like and the treatments really go hand in hand! I don’t usually treat myself to massages, but I can tell how much it helped so I’m very glad I did. I can’t recommend this practice enough!

Like Chris R. (review 5÷14÷14) I too was suffering from frozen shoulder. I was in agony every day and night; not getting more than 2 hours sleep a night. I went to an orthopedic specializing in shoulders and all he did was give me a cortisone shot and recommended surgery if it didn’t work. Well, it cost a lot money and didn’t work. I was still in a lot of pain and I didn’t want surgery that may or may not help.
I just finished my 5^th session with Dr. Bates. The pain is pretty much gone and I can now sleep through the night again. My movement in my shoulder is now coming back. I was looking at another year of pain and suffering for this condition medically known as adhesive capsulitis and he is bringing my shoulder back to life in less than a month.
Anybody with frozen shoulder, I implore you to make an appointment with Dr. Bates. Why suffer? Most of the medical community will not be able to help you and he will get you on the road to recovery without surgery in a very short period of time.

Dr Bates is the most amazing Dr. He is the only one that was able to get me out if pain. I had a car accident years ago, and after seeing 2 chiropractors, I was still in bad shape. Hen I met Dr Bates and everything changed. He was able to fix my alignment– I was able to visibly see before and after X-​rays and feel well finally again! Donna, his wife is his assistant, and is just filled with so much sunshine. she makes you feel like part of the family when you are there. I have been going to Bates Chiro since 1999 and have recommended friends and family to him. They always thank me! I wish I could give 20 stars!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Bates for 5 months now and wow he is phenomenal! When I first came in, it had already been a year after I herniated my disc. Before seeing him, I could barely walk straight, I definitely couldn’t sit in a chair for more than 30 minutes without discomfort, and my left leg was constantly hurting. I decided to see him because it was close to my home and the reviews on Unilocal were all good! Wow they were right! He is so nice and patient and truly understands how your body works. With just a quick touch, he can determine which muscles are tense and needs to be loosed up.
I used to see him every week, which seems excessive, but honestly it’s for your health and the more frequent you go the faster you heal. Now that I am about 90% back to normal (no leg or foot pain and can go through a full day of work which includes sitting at a desk for long hours, or lifting/​working on heavy machinery) I only visit 2X a month. I’m sure that once I am healed I might only see him once a month for a check up, but he told me that I may not need to come back unless I want to.
Tip: Arrive on time so you get seen as quickly as possible!
Overall I appreciate everything he has done for me as it is honestly life changing. It sucks not being able to do basic tasks without pain, and his treatment has definitely made me feel normal again. Also, Donna is great! Super nice and welcoming and very easy to talk to while you wait. I highly recommend Dr. Bates as he has changed my life for the better. Thanks for everything!

I was diagnosed with shoulder impingement in early September of 2013, I sought treatment from my regular doctor and from a chiropractor (not Dr. Bates). I took medications for swelling and pain, attended a shoulder class, had some regular adjustments, did lots of stretching and exercises, went to massage therapy, even tried cold laser therapy. By February 2014 my condition had deteriorated. I saw an orthopedist who re-​diagnosed my problem as frozen shoulder.
Since the treatment I was receiving was not giving me results, I went on the Internet to see if I could get some more information on the condition and alternative treatments. I ran across the Neil-​Asher method on the
website. The explanation of the condition and the proposed treatment (manipulating pressure points in a reverse order) made good sense. I found a few folks in my area that practiced the method. I researched and called a few before I decided to try Dr. Martin Bates at Bates Chiropractic in Fremont (Dr. Bates is Master Certified in the Neil-​Asher method).
I have to admit I was a little skeptical when Dr. Bates said he could fix me in 6 visits but sure enough, the Neil-​Asher treatments gave me incremental improvement after every visit. My mobility is pretty close to where it was before I started having problems. Dr. Bates and his assistant Donna are top notch. I have been to several chiropractors and I believe Dr. Bates is one of the best I have been to. I would use him again and highly recommend him.

I had a chiropractor for almost 30 years, and he retired. I was so relieved when I met Martin Bates! I have been a patient of his for about 2 years. He knows his business! My profession is physically tough on me, and I always get great results with Dr. Bates. It’s a family run business, and they take care of me as if I was family. Very caring and professional, and never a problem getting an appointment. They also take my insurance. Even if they didn’t, I would continue to be his patient.
