Have used Javier’s services twice, each time a bunch of small and large tasks taking full day for 2 – 3 people. Very skilled and reliable. Does high quality work and follows up promptly to fix any rare rework.

I used a hand full of handyman services from Fremont, Union City and San Lorenzo, but Javier and his guy are the most skilled, detail oriented, and their price is very competitive. He is always very conscientious to communicate with me and confirm the details before he cuts materials and nail down things. Therefore, there is no surprise on the outcome or redo things. He improved my very noisy shower pipe that my general contractor completed.
Because Javier is skilled, he is popular and busy. At one time, I made a mistake to hire another guy from San Lorenzo for quicker service, but the guy installed my closet organizer completely wrong. Shelves were not leveled and drawers did not open. Javier came and fixed all the problems (with very reasonable price) and apologized that he was not available when I needed him. I do not want to make my waiting period even longer, but I truly recommend him. Other handyman told me that they do certain services, but cannot do this and that, but Javier does almost anything home owners need. He is very pleasant to work with.

With all due respect, I just don’t get people who leave negative reviews on Unilocal when there was no work performed. Someone didn’t call you back? Go somewhere else. Maybe it was YOU they didn’t want to do business with. Just because someone owns a business doesn’t meant that they have to provide service to you.
However, when it’s Javier and his crew, I can see why someone would be upset that they missed out. I’d be upset too if I had to settle for another person to do work in my house. Javier and his crew are AMAZING.
I first met Javier when he was working with another «contractor» on a very extensive kitchen remodel (whom I reviewed a few years ago). That contractor crashed, burned, and flamed out. Good riddance. Thank goodness for Javier, Luis, and Billy. That contractor went straight out of business immediately. So Javier and his crew stepped in and finished the job perfectly. And let me tell you, this was no facelift. This was a custom dream kitchen for me, and is the envy of my professional chef friends! All these years later, and it’s still beautiful and I love every moment I spend in it. Now THAT is quality.
So, now it’s time to do the bathrooms. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind about who we would call. Again, these are bathrooms that are custom and high end. Once again, Javier and his crew are making our dreams and visions come true.
By the above, you would think that we are rich people. We are not. There is no way we could have done this had we hired anyone else. Javier’s prices are reasonable — he looks for ways to save you money. For specialty work, he puts you in contact with other contractors who can do the work, such as electricians, etc. whom he trusts. He also takes the time to study all of the installation directions to make sure it goes in right the first time and that there are no mistakes. If something isn’t quite right after install — and by «not right» I mean maybe you think a whole wall of tile should be moved over two inches (oops, sorry about that, Javier — I know I told you I wanted it here, but I changed my mind) — he fixes it. He is super conscientious and wants you to be happy when the job is all done. He asks you about things you don’t even think of, such as realizing you should probably change door handles because you’re going from gold to nickel fixtures, and then he changes the hinges even though you didn’t think to bring that up. At the end of the day, all tools are put away and things are left as neat as possible. On Fridays, all floor coverings are brought up so that you don’t have to live with all of that during the weekend. And at the end of the job, he brings in someone to CLEAN YOUR HOUSE!
One day, Javier and his crew will only be serving high end homes, and he will be way out of our price range. We’re trying to do everything we can with him before that happens. And if you have to wait for him to do your job, I just have one thing to say — be patient and wait. It will be worth it.

Never got a call back. He came over for a consultation and said he would call for a price estimate however he never called and when I texted him several times afterwards he never responded back. I then left several voicemails and got no response. I don’t know how he got so many good reviews here because my experience with him has been the complete opposite of 5 stars.

I very rarely write reviews on Unilocal but I just had to for Javier and his crew. I have had numerous work done on my house throughout the years. Bathroom remodels, closet remodels, flooring, recess lighting, etc. I always thought when the jobs were done, they had done a really great job. But, I really did not know what great was until Javier and his crew did our kitchen remodel. I had been talking about doing a kitchen remodel for years. I finally decided to do it. I looked on Unilocal to get some reviews. I called someone (twice) who never called me back. Lucky me. I left a message for Javier and he called me right back. He also came over that night. I had a list of various things I wanted done but since the Kitchen was the biggest, he tackled that first. I had been looking around trying to get ideas on how I wanted to do this. Javier sent me to someone he uses all the time. She worked with me and we picked out everything, granite, cabinets, floors, back splashes, handles, a one stop shop and for a great price. I still was unsure of what I had picked so Javier went in and actually helped me get it right. The finished product is so unbelievable. Such craftsmanship, attention to every detail, ideas that I would have absolutely never thought to do. Javier and his crew went above and beyond. The cost was also below what I would have expected. I just wish I would have found him years ago. I will be recommending him to everyone I know and even people I do not know.

I usually don’t write negative reviews but Javier really left us high & dry. He came to our house two weeks ago to do an estimate on a security camera installation then never got back to us. We keep having stuff stolen from our house and let Javier know we wanted to get the cameras installed right away. I left voicemails and texted Javier at least 15 times over the last two weeks (including today) to see when he could do the installation but never heard back from him. While we’ve been waiting to hear any word from Javier, we’ve been left exposed to further theft/​damages to our house. Really frustrated with the lack of communication and plan to go with a different handyman.

Javier and his crew are amazing. Always on time. Great pride in workmanship and attention to detail. Very honest and never any surprises. Always keeps you in the loop and offers great on job advice and feedback.
They did a complete face lift of my mother’s pool house and it came out 10 times better than I imagined! Plumbing, tile, cabinetry, windows, doors, flooring — they did it all!
I have more projects coming up and I cannot wait to call Javier again!

We found Javier on Unilocal and could not be happier we met him. He and his guys did an amazing job remodeling our kitchen. They really paid attention to every detail and advise us on places to purchase each element. The end result was outstanding. I cannot wait to start cooking and having some people over. We also decided to add an additional cabinet and convert a small hole in the wall I have into a bar. My husband could not be happier, absolutely love it! Luis did the electrical work and even installed an outlet so we can make some margaritas. These guys go above and beyond to help you and ensure you are happy with the job. I would highly recommend Javier to all my friends and relatives.

Bottom line: Javier is fair, honest, does great work and is fast! Not to mention, he’s very easy to work with and communicates often and clearly. The house needed new floors and renovations in 2 bathrooms. We were fortunate enough to book Javier without a long wait during July! I knew we got the right guy when he knew exactly what materials were needed right off the bat. By the time we got back with the materials, his crew had already ripped out both bathrooms! Javier was very patient and offered great advice as well. Everything on the list was completed early and under budget; our expectations were exceeded. I definitely plan on calling Javier for future jobs.

Javier is AWESOME he did a beautiful job on my grandmother’s fence, as well as a few other odd jobs she had for him. He was incredibly patient and kind to her. She is almost 90 years old, totally deaf and can be a little… fussy, God love her :-) but he rolled with it and accommodates all her small requests. I think he must have a granny too :-) He charged a very reasonable price for about half a day of work. I was totally impressed. Oh– and he is punctual as hell! He was there on the dot both times. Reliable, honest fair, and does beautiful work. You won’t be sorry you hired Javier!

I had a project to replace bathroom exhaust fan and I was over my head and realized I needed help to complete and in time for some guests coming in a couple of days.
So called Javier after seeing his reviews in Unilocal.He was understanding of my time-​sensitive issue and agreed to fix it right away.
As soon as he came he realized he was looking at a shoddy job by the previous contractor both the electrical work and the exhaust work. In 2.5hrs he and his colleague did a fantastic job and fixed everything. It was a professional job and walked me through the work to confirm I was satisfied. I heartily recommend him for any home projects you might have.

Javier and crew are the guys I have been looking for. They know their stuff, do great work, have fair prices, are always on time if not early, and clean-​up after. Tough to find all those qualities in one. They recently performed for me major ceiling work, new/​retrofit recessed lighting, and rebuilding of electrical outlets. My living room has been transformed and the wife is very happy. I have already recommended their services and will continue to use them for future jobs. I also wanted to add that Luis is the man when it comes to electrical work! These guys rock!

After I got the keys of my home after the closing process, I was looking for a reliable handyman to do a bunch of works in my home before I move in, especially –remodeling the kitchen. Being new to the area as well as new to this part of the business, I was little worried of selecting the right person for the task. That is the time my agent pointed Javier to me.
After discussing shortly with him on the works I was aiming at, I could really gauge his ability for the task and I didn’t have to think twice to give him a Go.
Javier and his team did a wonderful job in remodeling the kitchen, which in fact changed the appearance and ambiance of my home.
In addition to his perfection of work, his pricing was also attractive.
From that time on, I engage Javier for multiple works in my home for past one year, including remodeling the garage area, electrical modifications, and so on, those altogether changed the overall appearance of my home.

Javier has been a real professional in his work on our home. He has led a team to do tile work in a large portion of our home. He has a great combination of being accomodating, flexible, and friendly, but also a perfectionist when it comes to his work. His is up front in his pricing and explains each step of the process. His team is completely reliable and trustworthy. They showed up on time every day and were very respectful about our home and how the process was affecting our family with small kids. We are hiring him to do several more projects on our home and have recommended him to our friends and family. I can’t say enough about Javier and the quality of his work!

Javier is a great handyman and such a friendly guy! He installed our vanity top with cabinet, his workmanship is superb. He took the time to figure out what was going on and make adjustment to fit in our limited space bathroom. A 5-​star review is well deserved for his work.

I needed my stairs covered in laminate at very short notice — my renter was moving in, the carpet needed to be pulled out, and my other contractor was unavailable.
I was quite pleased with how Javier handled the job at pretty short notice.
Nobody else I called was available, and also their prices were all higher than what Javier charged me.
He did a good job on a Sunday morning and managed to save me money on the material as well… quite pleased with his work.

It is my sincere pleasure to write a review for Javier Alvarado.
I have known Javier almost two years. We met him as one of the subcontractors working on our kitchen remodel. For this remodel, Javier and his helper, Luis, did the following work:
*Built a redwood deck off the kitchen
*complete demo of the kitchen
*partial demo of adjacent laundry room
*all reframing (we changed windows to doors, and moved doors), drywall, texture, paint
*installed new windows and new sliding glass doors
*tiled laundry room floor, backsplash tile on the kitchen
*installed all plumbing, including moving pipes in the laundry room
*installed all appliances
Most importantly, my contractor ended up being completely horrible. As my contractor became more useless, Javier stepped into his role and began organizing the other subs who were working on this project. I’m sure we would not have finished in the given timeframe if it were not for Javier taking this initiative.
Following the kitchen, we hired Javier directly for the following projects:
*install recessed lighting in two rooms and hallway
*paint two downstairs rooms, install new baseboard
*demo old lava rock fireplace and installed new tile and backsplash (also required drywall & texturing)
*complete demo of hallway bathroom– down to the studs, moved pipes, installed new window, tiled bathtub/​shower, worked with subs on custom cabinetry, mirror and frameless shower door, and silastone countertop
*New railing for stairway (Javier researched the type of wire railing I wanted and found a lower cost alternative for me.) Found a good sub who did the actual work.
*Installed 14 new windows in the living room with cathedral ceiling
*Complete demo of huge lava rock fireplace, (I know, how many lava rock fireplaces should one house have? We had TWO), rebuilt fireplace with tile, mounted and wired flat screen TV above the fireplace, and cleverly ran wires through the walls to an outlet box– no more messy wires!
*painted everything, new baseboards
Throughout the jobs, Javier has always been completely honest and dependable– the most important qualities in a contractor, but sometimes the hardest to find. He has been very open with me when there are delays. His prices are transparent, and I never have «bad surprises» when it comes time to pay the bill.
We have recommend Javier to friends of ours, and they have been equally pleased with his work.
I would not hesitate to recommend Javier for any job, large or small, and I already have his next jobs in our house in mind!

We’ve worked with Javier for over 7 years. He has fixed many small problems in our home over the years with excellence. But his amazing work at remodeling is his expertise. He has completely remodeled our kitchen and both bathrooms. We receive compliments on his work all the time. He also built an outdoor island kitchen from the ground up. Javier can do just about everything in your home and if there’s something he can’t work on, he has great contacts for any work outside his expertise. I recommend Javier for his honesty and experience.
