Golden State Medical Evaluations

I walked over and the door was locked, went on-​line and made an appointment for 30 minutes later and they were open. Did my evaluation with the doctor and was out in 30 minutes with Cert. and Card.
I also, brought my previous evaluation, so that probably helped speed things up.
One draw back, they don’t take credit or debit cards, cash only

I made an appointment on the websites and when I arrived they were not there.

I returned this location to renew after another year. Had a similarly good experience until trying to get the card. I have paid for it but still have not received it. I have called every day since paying and no answer, no call backs, no email responses.
I would recommend not waisting your time here. You will not even get what you paid for!

2pm on a Wednesday and no one is even here. The doors are locked with a sign that says «Closed today. Will be open on Nov 4» when it in fact is November 4… WOW and I thought the previous reviews about lazy staff was a one time thing.
If you are closed for lunch, say so on your business pages so that people don’t waste their time.
Ps. You shouldn’t have to close for lunch anyway if you have a total of 6 business hours per day. Just sayin.

I was not happy with my experience at Golden State today. The doctor I saw, Dr. Dowbak, was rude and impatient. He was not kind at all, and was very arrogant.
I am a hearing impaired individual with a cognitive delay, and I wear hearing aides. Even still, for me, sometimes I just need to hear a person twice. I told Dr. Dowbak early in our conversation that I was hearing impaired, but he was very easily frustrated when he had to repeat things. True, he did have to repeat more than once, but it doesn’t help my situation to let out an exasperated, loud sigh each time I need to hear something again. As a doctor, he should realize that I am not perfect– that’s why I came into the office, to get help treating these ailments, The worse was when he kept asking «Why» questions. «Well, why can’t you hear anyway??» Or «What’s this cerebral anamoly anyway?»
The medication my regular doctor gives me to treat migraines isn’t enough for me with my pain levels. He asked me how many are in a bottle, and I seriously didn’t know. He pretty much rolled his eyes and said I should guess. He had zero compassion and it struck me as completely odd that he looked at the papers I had filled out more than looking at me as a person, his patient. After he asked if I was even paying attention anyway, I asked him if there was another doctor available and said, «Look, I’m ready to go, you’re being extremely rude, and I already told you I have a hearing loss.» He quickly softened his tone and admitted to having a hearing loss as well. He stuck out his hand and apologized, but I wasn’t completely sold. I feel he only apologized to keep me as a customer. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and allowed him the opportunity to change, and we finished the appointment. Bottom line, he was rude as hell, and I know that many patients going in there are experiencing chronic pain issues like me. They don’t deserve his attitude any more than I do.
He explained some strands that would work well with my issues, all while continuing to look downward and speak to the paper instead of me. He then gave me my card and apologized again, and I said thanks.
I went out into the main lobby where the young lady behind the desk made copies of everything he had written on my paper, and handed it to me. They have a chart in the office that looks like a periodic table, then lists all the strands and their names, effects, so forth. The young lady asked if I had any questions, and I did. She spent another 10 or 15 minutes telling me what she knew and wrote down a couple names she liked. She was much more patient and kind than the doctor, and I felt more comfortable with her.
Overall, Dr. Dowback was just a total ass to me. I would never even consider returning to him. The care I received in the front is the only thing that gets the star. People with disabilities have every right to receive better treatment than what I got today.

I saw Dr. Helen and we talked about my medical condition and she gave me advice on how to deal with my chronic illness. I left her office relieved that my illness is treatable.

I have come in here twice with an appointment only to be told there is no doctor that day. This creates the impression that the doctors who work here are lazy and don’t care about there customer/​patient base. If I were you I’d stay away from this place. Between driving there and filling out the forms two hours of my life have been wasted. Please don’t fall victim to this. Get your recommendation from a more reliable business.

Great costumer service very friendly!!! 1^st time here & for sure coming back next year to renew. Only 5min away from my house, how great is that I don’t have to drive all the way to San Jose anymore woot woot! Lol

I came into this facility today to find out some prices for my cousin who is looking to renew his recommendation. Prices are very reasonable. I was very pleased with the atmosphere and the girl at the front desk was super helpful, she wrote down all the prices for me. I didn’t catch her name, but thanks girl! I love how they now have mini recommendations that can fit in my wallet, because the big paper one is such a pain to have to carry around. I might just have to get a new rec with them just because of that lol. I most def will be coming here to renew my rec when it expires in about 6 months if I* don’t decide to do it sooner.

This place rocks, 10 stars! The doctor is great as is the office staff. Easy to find, park around back!

This place is good. Came here and thought it would be crowded and scary. However to my surprise I was the only one there and as I walked in the receptionist briane was very helpful and nice! I filled out paper work there. Took about 20 minutes. You can save time by printing your own paper work at home when u make a appointment online they give u a link so u can do at home. Then just bring it in filled. After I met with the doctor shortly like 5 minutes and I payed $ 65 for my evaluation and that includes your paper. The card that is a picture ID is another 20 dollars. The doctor is proffesional and I walked out after 5 minutes.

My first time here but will be returning. Nice part of town, beautiful office, the whole set-​up was very professional, highly recommended
