«Y Summer Camp»
this summer, my 2 kids went to the Y camp at fremont/​newark location and they are having a blast.
The variety of camps in one location is a plus. From basketball, soccer, baseball, Martial arts, cheer leading or just traditional camps are all FUN.
Even though, my son loves basketball, he enjoyed traditional camp due to the busy fun program that is put together.
This Y camp location have morning and evening free extended care — I would consider it as a plus too. Not sure about other Ys
The Y Staff are extremely courteous. I like the sign in and the sign out procedure, and many other things. :)
Bottom line is that I am happy that my kids are playing, having fun, and meeting other nice kids where bullies have no place.

I would give a 0 star for sure. Do not believe anything they advertise for, because it is all false advertisement. I would have been okay with their false advertisement if there was no children involved.
Long story short, about 3 – 4 weeks ago, Fremont has the Art and Wine festival, The YMCA Fremont/​Newark was participating in that festival. While me and my daughters were taking a walk through the festival a gentleman invited us over to the YMCA booth for my 7 year old daughter to spin the wheel. My daughter got a 1 month Free at the YMCA center. The gentleman asked me to put all my information down, so someone can contact me regards my daughter 1 month free that she won.
My daughter got so excited, and on a daily basis she would ask me «did they call you yet!» My answer is always «NO».
After 2 week, to be honest getting bored of my daughter’s question, and also waiting for there call. I made the call to the center, the person that answered the phone said «I’ll let the manger know about this, and that they just didn’t get a chance to call anyone yet.» The person on the phone promised that the manger WOUlD call me back. Well he never DID.
Now it’s been 4 weeks, and still NEVER GOT A CALL.
Again, I would have been ok with this false advertisement, if my child was not involved.
Please YMCA Do Not go out there promising children things that you can’t give.
I would have registered my daughter if this had never happen. But now it has me thinking, if they have false advertisement, then they have false programs, and false care for our children. !

YMCA offers a wide variety of activities for families. I have not signed up for any of their classes but I do bring my son for summer camp. Last year I had him in their summer camp for about 4 weeks and although he didn’t LOVE it, he was okay with staying there. This year I only signed him up for two weeks because he was at another summer camp, except that one ended two weeks before school started. Their rock climbing camp was a great experience for my son and he loved it but this week at basketball camp he is not having as much fun. Luckily the staff at the YMCA offers other activities and he is able to do crafts instead of going forth with the basketball. It’s been fun and I look forward to next year.

I enrolled my kid at your Blacow rd facility for the summer camp, only to be left unattended starving for the full day with out any food.
My 7 year old kid asked for help with one of your staff members to locate his lunch box at your facility. The lady did not even care to listen and my poor kid had to starve the whole day ! No one helped him to locate his lunch box.
If this the way you treat small kids, you deserve to be banned in the neighborhood. Good luck!

While the monthly is low it is sorely in need of a complete makeover. Hours are limited but you also avoid the crush of bodies that you compete with at any of the 24 hr locations. At times I find that my trainer and I are the only ones in the weight room. That never happens at 24 hr Fitness.
As well, staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is never a problem. It would be nice to see YMCA corporate decide that this location needs help but I suspect I may have a better chance with the lottery.
As a «gym» only I would rate the «Y» as a ²⁄₅. A rough score but the competition is tough. Considering the various programs they offer to youth, seniors, and the community as a whole, that other «gyms» do not, add 2 stars. No other fitness facilty does what the Y does in the community. Considering this I added 2 stars for a total of ⁴⁄₅.

While the Fremont/​Newark YMCA isn’t a world class or state of the art building, the helpful staff and the friendly atmosphere makes up for it all.
Local residents (or just about anyone to be honest) can purchase annual gym membership to the YMCA, which sports a variety of different weight-​training machines as well as treadmills. The YMCA also offers different sports and recreation courses including yoga, martial arts, and basketball.
There is a back room available for meetings (some classes are conducted in there occasionally), a fairly open-​spaced gym, a yoga room, and a very large courtyard that includes a full basketball court and patio tables. The YMCA staff is very friendly and open to local student and youth groups, including Interact and Rotaract. If you’re running a non-​profit or a youth group, consider partnering with the YMCA for events, projects, or just meetings.
A quick suggestion and plug for anyone from ages 18 to 30 — the Rotaract Club of Greater Fremont, a service and business club for young professionals from ages 18 to 30, is one of the clubs that meets at the YMCA regularly. They meet at 7 PM every Wednesday. Membership is opened to all to attend.
Note: there is no wifi at this location, unfortunately
