I have been a loyal patient here for 13 years, using Ortho-​k for 11. It was a pleasant experience, with good optometrists and no trouble scheduling. Vivian Weng is a good optometrist and really cares about her patients’ needs and concerns.
However, I had a very negative experience recently. After I switched over to soft contact lenses a year ago, I went back for an appointment and it TOOK 2 HOURS to check my eyes. I arrived on time and was seen for ten-​fifteen minute intervals in between patients. That is unheard-​of.
They did not have trial lenses with my prescription, so I called the office to ask for a doctor’s note (to have a contact lens fitting at Kaiser, which had a selection of trial lenses for me). The receptionist was very dismissive, ignored the complaint that I had waited so long, and said the doctor may not sign the note until 1 PM. At 10:30 AM, I headed over to the office, expecting to wait. But when I got there, I was immediately given a doctor’s note with Vivian Weng’s signature stamped on it. What was the point of that phone call other than pure rudeness?

Terrible service. The receptionists at the front desk are both very rude– they never say hi, never smile, always give you the look, speak rudely, and aren’t very welcoming or accommodating. I would give one star if it weren’t for Dr. Weng. She’s always very nice and patient and she does what she can to help.
It’d probably be best if some new receptionists were hired. Their attitude alone would scare people away.

I’ve been here since 2009. I’ve seen both both doctors at the time and they were both great. I vaguely remember the staff. However, after not having an eye appointment for 2 years, I decided to make an appointment. I had no problem scheduling the appointment over the phone.
Still, when I went to the office, one assistant was working with another patient while the other didn’t even say hello. She just looked at her patent’s list, asked my name and took me into a room for pre-​screen.
My appointment was at 5:30pm and I arrived in the office 15 mins prior. After my pre-​screen, the assistant told me to wait till I could be seen. Now I didn’t realize that the doctor was with another patient. The assistant never told me or even say that the doctor was running late! So I waited and while I was waiting, a mother and daughter came in. After 15 mins or so, the mother asked how long and the assistant said the doctor will be done soon and that they were next. Now wait a minute, I’ve been waiting since 5:30pm for my appointment (it was already almost 6pm)!
When the doctor was finally done, she took the mother and daughter first. Okay, I was already steaming at this point. Doesn’t the assistants know which appointment goes next? Maybe it was to check how the contacts were so it wouldn’t take long. However, the assistant didn’t even say anything to me. I was just about to leave when the mother and daughter was done.
After waiting for half and hour or more, I finally had my appointment. Dr. Weng is great and I do like her but the assistants need better customer service. Good thing I only need to come here every 2 years or so.

I have been coming to this place for the last three years for my 3 kids and my Mom. It has been mostly a negative experience. They hardly greet you when you come in, they try to push you to purchase unnecessary things, like contact lenses and expensive sun glasses for kids, if you decline politely, they start being mean to you. I do not like to play the race card, but, They are definitely racist being not Asian like them, I have noticed many times how they treat Asians compared to non Asians.
My advise is to stay away and find other Providers with good rating.

Went back in there the other day and experienced the same level of service as before — not good. 3 weeks ago I dropped off my only pair of prescription sunglasses for repair. They needed to be sent back to the manufacturer, so I was prepared to go a painful few weeks without sunglasses. 2 weeks into the process, I called to see if there was word on my sunglasses and the receptionist said, «No.» I asked how much longer it would take and she said, «Usually 3 weeks because we have to send them, they need to fix them, and send them back.» (Well duh, do you think you can call the manufacturer?) 3 weeks into the process I called and asked about my sunglasses. She said that they were ready. I asked how long they had been there and she said 1 week. (Seriously???) She said they arrived right after I called the first time. I then asked her why she didn’t call me. She said she did call me but didn’t leave a message. (Seriously???) I then went to confirm the phone number and she had called my work — I asked her if she had my cell number, which she said she had but didn’t call. (Seriously???) i immediately hopped into the car to get my sunglasses. When I showed up she was clearly irritated with me because I barely deserved a «Hello»… Last I checked, there are a ton of unemployed people who would kill for her job…
