ECU Tuning Group

I researched several different tuners before selecting ECU Tuning Group (ETG) for my Aston Martin Vantage v8. Although all three companies responded to my emails to answer my initial questions, Jags from ETG stood out. He was very helpful in answering my questions in great detail and when questions got lengthier, he gave me his cell phone to call to make it easier.
Jags gave me his company’s history and told me how he’d tune my car and what it would entail, how long it would take, and what gains I could expect. I also asked about getting my catalytic converter and potentially the headers done too, and he was very patient on his answers. Very honest and although he could have sold me an exhaust system with the ECU tune, he said to try out the ECU tune first. Then after a few weeks, see how I like it and if I wanted more, to do the CATS next and advised me on which ones to get and why. He said to be careful with the headers as that can dramatically change the sound of the car and make it too loud. His advice was one thing at a time.
One of the key differences between Jags and the other tuners was the ability for him to backup his claims with a dyno test on the same model year and make as my car. When I asked the other tuners, they said they’d get back to me and never did. From Jag’s dyno chart, the HP to the wheels increased around 24 and the torque was around 19 — 20 ft lbs. He also gave me a list of Aston Martin dealers he had done business with and I called two of them up. They gave ETG good reviews and said their customers who had the work done through the dealerships where very happy.
After a week of Q&A with Jags, I took advantage of him being in up in the Bay Area and had him tune the car. He came to my workplace to do the work as my car didn’t need to have the ECU unit taken out of the car. Great service as I didn’t have to drive to the Fremont location, and done right through the OBDII port. It took about 90 minutes and the longest part was waiting to get the latest software for my ECU. Jags wanted to make sure the car was on the latest software before the remap and he had to contact a colleague in the UK to pull the latest Aston files for my car.
Before we started, he fully explained the whole process and what steps he’d take. He also answered a few other questions regarding my exhaust bypass setup with fuse 22 (pulled out). After it was all done, he explained what to do with the car to start the «relearning» of the ECU with the remapped values. Basically to find a clear stretch of road and drive it spiritedly for the first few gears.
My first drive impressions of the ECU tune were:
1. The throttle response is faster and more responsive. Especially after 3500 rpms to 6000 rpms. Pulling 1^st through 3^rd taking it to 6K+ before shifting was very noticeable in terms of how much free revving the engine felt and the car was «snappier». The best way I can describe it was my original ECU program felt «lazy» compared to the remap.
2. Without actually doing a before and after dyno of my own, it’s impossible to say exactly how much of a power gain my car got. From my first impressions, the car just accelerates quicker now. Is it the throttle response I’m feeling or is it the HP and torque increase? Maybe both… hard to say if you can really feel a 24 hp gain. In my car, the «seat of my pants» feeling tells me there’s definitely an improvement after the ECU tune.
3. I also noticed that when shifting from 1^st to 2^nd and from 2^nd to 3^rd in heavy stop and go traffic, the low RPM clunk that the transmission periodically makes was less noticeable. As the throttle response is better, I think the engine RPMs come up faster to make the shift smoother (just my guess here).
I’ll have to run the car for 105 miles to let the ECU relearn and then I’ll see if the gas mileage is any different too.
Overall, a very good experience and I’m happy with the results. Jags knows his stuff, is really friendly and helpful with questions, and all the boards that have happy customers talking about their experiences with their ETG ECU tunes was correct.

My buddy Chris referred me to Goshan, so I went in on Monday got my ECU remapped (M3 E92) Goshan was very nice and helpful, job done very fast, after my ECU was tuned, my avg MPG went from 18.3 to 21.3 — 22.1 MPG also I felt the HP gain. If you are planning to work on your car, this is the place to go to and Goshan is the man! A+ from me.

I have used ECU Tuning Group in the past (2008 BMW M Coupe) with excellent results so I did not hesitate to call them again when I bought my new 2013 Range Rover Evoque. Originally, the car was a bit slow and had really excessive turbo lag. After ECU Tuning Group performed the software upgrade any reservations I had about buying the car were completely erased. I called Wednesday afternoon and made an appointment with Goshan of ECU Tuning Group to get a software upgrade for my ’13 C63 AMG, and it was as easy as asking when’s his next availability. He was free Friday at 9am. He did mention that the car had to be in the shop early enough since the process takes up to 3 hours. As soon as I got to the shop, he pulled my car in and go to work. He pulled my ECU in a matter of seconds, got it open, and used his electronic tools to download the software and send it to the headquarters in Beverly Hills. I waited a couple of hours in their lobby reading car modification magazines and reading up on my iPad. They have WiFi too in case you need to bring in your laptop to do some work. As soon as the process was done, I saw them pop my ECU back into the engine compartment and it was ready to rock and roll. Immediately I didn’t feel much. I punched the throttle hard and felt a little kick, but nothing to write home about. I drove about 2 miles, went to the bank, and then drove back to their shop. After letting the car sit for a bit, I started the C63 back up and heard a different roar this time. Travelling 880 south for a 20 mile stretch, I felt the car get stronger and stronger with every smash of the gas pedal. What really impressed me was with the MCT (Multi Clutch Technology; type of transmission) as it was like pulling a freight train but as smooth as a jet. You really can’t feel the gears shifting on a highway as soon as you hit the gas. The pedal response comes around faster than before. Even my exhaust comes roaring louder when I really step on it. It really feels like a different engine was put inside.
For the price, you get what you paid and more. Other popular companies are charging more for similar software upgrades with promises of keeping your warranty good should you have any engine malfunctions. Once you start changing this and that in your car, no one can tell what manufacturers will cover or void. After googling ECU Tuning Group, it looks like they’ve successfully tuned other customers’ cars such as the Jaguar XKR, Range Rover SC, Aston Martin Virage, Mercedes S65, and Bentley GTC. With their good customer service and car services, I’ll definitely recommend them to all my friends and acquaintances.
