We tried out half a dozen martial arts programs in Fremont before finding Dragon Rhythm Shaolin Kung Fu. Group classes are a little on the large size but Master Long Yuan and his assistants do an amazing job of keeping things organized and moving so students are constantly engaged. They also break into small groups and get plenty of 1:1 instruction. Master Yuan knows how to get the best out of all kinds of kids, whether they are shy, distracted, over-confident…he is strict, fair, and encouraging. Perhaps my favorite thing about his program is the culture– while the kids learn and perform at a very high level, they are extremely supportive of each other, even when competing against each other.

My son has been going in for over a year and we can see the improvement in his physicality. We have looked around at a few other Kungfu school before we chose this one. In comparison to other schools, this school focuses more on training the students’ physical strength, which is what we want for our son. Master Yuan is strict and patient at the same time. He usually has 2 assistant to help him out and the assistants are very patient too. If you don’t speak Mandarin, it might be a little difficult to understand the masters at first but my son manages to catch on after a while. Space might be a little tight but the masters were able to handle it fine. Parking inside the complex might be a little difficult but there are plenty spots on the road side. Overall, we are very satisfied with this studio.

Dragon Rhythm Shaolin Kung Fu is the best! I have been searching for a martial arts school in Fremont, CA. I am so happy and excited to share that I think I found the best place to learn and get an excellent work out. I go 3 times a week to attend the adult class. Master Long Yuan is a true warrior monk that came from a long history of Shaolin Kung Fu masters. The instructors and students are so welcoming, encouraging, and supportive. Really nice environment. Master Liu is another teacher who is so patient and thorough. It’s good that there are 2 instructors in the class so that each student can get the personal attention he/she requires. My husband and I are both enrolled in this school. Try to attend a free trial lesson for beginners on Wednesday evenings or Sunday mornings. It is a great work out, and you can learn self-defense and discipline. Great for kids and fun activity for the entire family.

This is by far the best martial arts studio I’ve ever been to. Master Yuan and Master Bei are both great at making sure all students get personal attention at least 2 – 3 times during their hour long session, which really helps my kids since their prior experience at a different school where 20 kids are in a class with 1 teacher simply doesn’t work. The kids also love the masters! Although they can pretend to be mean with their threats of «100 pushup» punishment, we have yet to see anyone do that and we’ve been there for a long time. If you want your child or if you yourself(as an adult) want to learn some real kung fu from real Shaolin warrior monks, this is the place to be. The drills that they run you through also really helps with weight loss. I get comments 2 – 3 times a week from people I know about my «weight loss.» They also have an adult wellness class which teaches meditation and Tai Chi, both of which are great at helping people with anxiety, balance problems, and focus issues. All in all, the best!

Si-Fu Long is a top-notch Kung Fu master and teacher in the bayarea. He is well-known in Shaolin Kung Fu circle. Since this is his own business, he placed extra effort to help those who want to learn kung fu. The only issue is that his studio is relatively small.

I started taking lessons with Sifu Long about a month ago, and it’s been great. He’s very accommodating to your age and fitness level, and despite being in a class with someone as young as 19, and another in her 60’s, Sifu Long still manages to give everyone individual attention. I really enjoy the fact that he doesn’t work you like a drill sergeant out to prove how kick-ass he is. He keeps it fun, and leaves it up to you to go at your own pace. But it IS a high intensity work-out(at least the kung fu class — I haven’t taken the wellness class), and you WILL break a sweat, even if you go in thinking you’ll take it easy. Expect to be sore if you’ve never done kung-fu before — but sore in a good way :). As of this writing, he offers a free«trial» class if you wanna see if this is for you.
