Rudy is fantastic. He provided excellent guidance on what to install — new 65″ Sony TV over fireplace with Apple TV, universal remote and other amenities, while utilizing other equipment we already had in place to make things more cost effective. He then not only did a fabulous job on the installation but came back to patiently explain how to work everything. We could not be happier with the outcome. Great job and great guy. Spoke to Rudy about installing a TV for me. He said to text him my email and he would send me a quote. 2 days later I texted him again to follow up about the quote. No response. Here we are almost a week later and still no quote or response. Well I can take a hint. I will take my business somewhere else. Thanks for nothing!

Rudy, Sam and Javier installed two TV’s wall mounted, with ethernet. This is a new condo where the wiring was in place but in the wrong locations. I assumed they would have to do a lot of messy and expensive sheetrock work to move the connections, but amazingly they were able to fish wires and complete the install without sheet rock work and painting!
Very conscientious and experts at their work!

Rudy did an excellent job setting up our home theater. He installed 80 inch TV on the wall, did a great job with the audio setup, The best part was that he was very patient, always willing to work with us on questions, changes even if it meant spending much more time than what he anticipated. Rudy did an excellent job remodeling our Audio and Visual systems. It called for a genius and he recommended and accomplished this feat, within our budget. I definitely recommend custom home theater. We recently got two TVs installed and not only do we love then but it was so convenient. Rudy brought all of the equipment to our home, installed our TVs and helped move our old equipment as well. There are no wires which is fabulous and looks so clean and neat!!! A professional man who runs a professional service!!! We found Rudy through the Unilocal reviews. We checked out and got quotes from several different vendors to install an indoor and outdoor system. Rudy, really listened to and found out what we were looking for. He installed a 3 area Sonos system, speakers in our indoor kitchen, outdoor kitchen and around our pool. As well as installing a TV in our outdoor kitchen with cable and Internet access. He did a beautiful and very clean job! If you’re in the Bay Area and you appreciate high quality home theater and smart home experiences, look no further. Not only did Rudy and his team install a full Control 4 multi-​media system with multiple zones throughout our house, but he was completely professional, pleasant, and even funny during the process.
The main theater that Rudy installed looks like it was here when we moved in. He even introduced me to a carpenter to create a custom cabinet to house our screen when it’s not being used. Custom Home Theater is the crew you would want to consider. I imagine there are quite a few good installers out there, but Rudy Q. and his crew were dynamic. I had know idea of the extent of installing a home theater, but Rudy Q. methodically went to work and was extremely professional. It was simply amazing watching him in action as he installed the wires in my wall. When he cut holes and ripped away sheet-​rock, I thought «he’s tearing up my room beyond repair.» Needless to say, they not only professionally installed all the wires, but he patched the walls up and repainted. I promise you, if you would search the area, you would not be able to point the areas out.
Rudy Q and crew took 3 long days with my project, but everything was done to precision and perfection. He hooked up all my equipment and my Epson projector along with my 123 inch Stewart screen work to perfection.

I decided to replace my rather antiquated stereo hi-​fi system with a full-​fledged home theater system. After interviewing three of the home theater installers listed on Unilocal!I gave the job to Rudy Quintero at Custom Home Theater. I could not have been more pleased with his work. I told Rudy what functionality I wanted in the system — 55″ HD TV, 5.1 sound, Blu Ray DVD player, Internet radio, and streaming video — and let him recommend, purchase, and install the components.
The system he recommended was well within my price range and his charge for the components was the same as or less than prices I could have gotten on the Internet. The system he designed was excellent; he even connected the receiver to my router with Ethernet cable, rather than relying on the slower speed wi-​fi in my home. His installation was great — he’s a bit of a perfectionist — and all wires were run through the walls and attic rather than under rugs, as one of the people I interviewed recommended.
He did the entire job for a fixed price, even though he had to come back an extra time because the equipment cabinet that I had ordered for the components was late in arriving. He set the system up temporarily and, even though I said that I would reinstall the components in the cabinet when it arrived, he insisted that he didn’t consider the job done until he installed the components. You don’t often get commitment like that anymore. I can recommend Rudy without reservation.

Had a 60in Samsung TV to mount above my fireplace. Rudy was very professional and did a very clean job. He put a outlet right behind the tv and hooked up all the cables. He even painted and textured the wall. I was very impressed with the work. I highly recommend him for all TV installs. Also it only took him a couple of hours to complete the job. Thanks Rudy.

This has been an interesting experience. I normally do my own home theater install, but since I moved to the US (from Sweden), I’ve not really felt like mucking about with a proper home theater install. One reason for this was simply the fact that I initially shared a house with a bunch of people, which kinda makes it hard to do a proper install. But also the fact that houses and apartments here are built in a different way with different requirements, making me hesitant to start doing all too complicated installs.
But after getting to a new apartment and seeing some of my friends setups, it felt like it was time to take action. After all, what’s the point of an awesome projector (JVC DLA-​RS1) if it isn’t hooked up.
So I started looking for a company which would be able to setup the system exactly as I wanted it without costing a fortune in the progress.
I found a couple around the bay area, so I started by sending out emails to Zion AV and Superior Home Theater. I also called them, but neither answered the phone, called back or replied to my emails. Not a very good start.
Then I found Custom Home Theater, who not only answered the phone immediately, but also came over within a couple of days notice to inspect the place/​equipment and to give me a quote.
First impressions are important, and Rudy really builds confidence when you talk to him. He doesn’t try to coax you into what he thinks should be done, instead he works with your suggestions and provide feedback if you’re way off. This is, in my opinion what makes a good contractor. It builds trust and also shows his experience.
Once we were done, he got back with a time for the start of the install, which was surprisingly quick (quote on Sunday, begin of install Thursday). The initial estimate for the project was 2 days, but due to a wall being a little bit more complicated than expected, it took 2 ½ day.
While some may be irritated by it, I’d rather have someone take the time they need instead of rushing and doing a half-​assed job out of it.
One thing is for sure, Rudy and Sam pay attention to details, and it shows in the finished install. Just the simple fact that we probably spent an hour total of adjusting the projector to get the image just right (lens shifting, adjusting the mount, etc) goes to show how particular he is about getting things right. Anyone else (including my mom) would be very frustrated with me after 15 minutes of adjustments :)
The install called for a lot of drilling in walls and setting up new wall plates (for hdmi, ups, etc), but never once did I worry. They covered the floor with protective covers and made sure to clean up whatever mess they made (which, all things considered, wasn’t much).
So how complicated was the install? Here’s the lowdown on what Rudy had to fix:
— Hook up a projector as close to the back wall as possible (due to throw distance and screen size)
— Pull HDMI and power to the projector, hiding the cables so all you see is a nice wall plate at both ends.
— Setting up the projector screen so it rolls down just in front of the 52″ LCD TV (again, throw distance, etc).
— Pulling a network cable (with wallplates) from the back wall to the front wall.
— Connecting up waay too many units so everything can be routed to both TV and projector at the same time.
— Hide all cables and making sure none of work on the walls/​ceiling was visible.
Did he succeed? Oh yes! The setup looks great (see pictures) and sounds/​plays even better.
I’m very satisfied with his (and Sam’s) work and wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to recommend him to my friends.

Our old Mitsubishi DLP TV broke and we decided it was time to upgrade our TV and audio setup in our living room. We started out at Magnolia but ran into some pretty serious sticker shock. I talked to a few custom installers I found on Unilocal/​Google and decided to go with Rudy.
Rudy installed a 63″ plasma on the wall, ceiling, center and sub woofer speakers, a receiver in our living room. My wife wanted to see no wires so all of the wires had to be in the wall, which required routing a HDMI cable over a fireplace to the other side of the room where receiver was. Rudy also mounted TVs in our bedroom and loft and setup a 4 zone Sonos home speaker system.
We couldn’t have been happier with the result. The family room looks and sounds great and the TVs in the loft and bedroom look much cleaner now they are mounted. The Sonos setup is fantastic and easy to use — we now can play music in all four corners of the house. Rudy and his team did a great job repairing, texturing and painting our walls. You can’t even tell where the holes were. All of this was done at a very reasonable price. Rudy’s prices were so much cheaper than Magnolia that we upgraded some of our components and bought a TV for the loft too. He also threw in HDMI cables and fixed some home networking/​wiring problems too.
Rudy ran into some issues wiring in the walls because of piping, but he worked a very long day to make sure the project would complete on schedule.
