I’ve been through the ringer with Doctors. I’ve had chronic pelvic pain since I was 18 with a long list of «solutions“doctors have recommended I try (birth control, birth control and birth control. Oh and Chronic Pain Center)
Dr Wings was a difference maker for me today. She stepped in and shook my hand. but most importantly, she listened. She didn’t interrupt, she just listened to every thing about the pain I mentioned. She reviewed what other Dr’s said in the system. After seeing an ultra sound had been done in the last 3 months she said no ultra sound was needed today, even though the appointment was a «dual appointment» scheduled in the ultra sound room. I appreciated that she didn’t do the ultra sound just for the heck of it.
After a quick gentle exam I got dressed and she QUICKLY came back in to discuss options. She sat down and throughly explained them to me, never getting impatient with my thousand questions. Something incredible to me is that she was honest, she explained the pros and cons of each option and didn’t leave out anything that could be conceived as disappointing. Handing my pamphlets she said I could take time to decide and call when my decision was made.
Ultimately, Dr. Wong listens and cares. I never felt belittled there. Her knowledge and experience left me feeling confident in her.

Love dr Wong. She is a great dr.
Beware of her nurse. She is lazy and never follows through her actions.

Dr. Wong has been my OB For over 5 years now. She looks amazingly young but is extremely professional and experienced. I’ve had 2 children under her care and I couldn’t be happier. She was supportive through my last pregnancy as I had placenta issues that needed extra medical care. Not only did she clear her calendar to stay by my side at the hospital but she also made sure she was the performing doctor. I was reluctant to post this because I value her care so much and didn’t want to have a tough time scheduling an appt. with her but she is a treasure too good not to share. If you’re lucky enough to have the option to pick her as your OB I suggest you do so as she is the kindest and most professional Dr. I’ve ever had. Her compassion and level of care is second to none. Thank you Dr. For taking care of me and allowing me to share special memories with my two healthy baby girls. You are a gift to the medical community and the Bay Area. I hope you never move!

I like her a lot ! I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor. She has been so helpful, supportive, informative throughout the pre and post pregnancy. Unfortunately I had two miscarriages before I got pregnant for the third time and gave birth to my son this June. She literally hand held me through the bad phase. I was really touched when she called me after my 5 month miscarriage to check on me. I always felt a sense of relief when she was around. I also had this condition of having an incompetent cervix, for which she made sure we left no stone unturned and took care of the condition to make sure my baby remained safe. Apart from the emotional comfort I felt, I think she is really good at her job and has a lot of knowledge to share.
She is a very good listener, she explains very well, has a great friendly smile that assures you that you are in safe hands… and you literally are. I would highly recommend her. Whether it were the D&Cs for the two miscarriages or my third pregnancy and delivery… she really helped for everything to go smoothly.

A special mention for her staff (technically staff of the WTMF formerly known as Womens Health Specialist). They are very good at their job too, always welcome with a friendly smiles. Some of them also make an effort to remember your name… somehow feels good :). I also required various letters from the doctor for visa and office purpose. DOctor’s office provided all those in no time.

Went for a first OB appointment at 6 weeks. I met Dr. Wong and she seemed really nice. She looked at my medical records saw that I have had 3 vaginal births, 1 loss, 1 c-​esection, and 1 vabc (15 months prior) She immediately declared I «have to» have a c-​section. I explained I already had a vbac and wouldn’t CHOOSE a c-​section. We go back and forth for a minute before I mention that I’m only 6 weeks and we can discuss this later.
Dr. Wong decided to do an unexpected ultrasound. I was glad I’d get a peek at baby! She pointed out the heartbeat and told me it was too slow. I was a little confused because I’ve had several children and it looked perfect to me. She didn’t even measure the heartbeat… just kept saying it was «too slow».
She removed the probe, gave me a pamplet on miscarriage and told me to schedule a follow up appintment in two weeks or to come in sooner if I had miscarried before then.
I left and called another OB who sent me for a dianostic ultrasound the next day. Everything was fine. Baby’s heartrate was 160. Not slow at all.
All that upset was for NOTHING.
I was crying, my husband was upset, I hadn’t ate or slept.
Imagine if I had waited two weeks!
I’m not sure what Dr. Wong saw that indicated to her that she should declare an impending miscarriage… but the other tech saw NOTHING of the sort. I have since had all my blood work, and 3 more ultrasounds, and I’m now in my second trimester. All signs point to a perfectly healthy baby. I have yet to recieve any type of acknowlegement or apology for the upset she caused.
So my next visit I’m seen by Dr. Kurkjian (8 weeks).
She confirms that baby’s heartbeat seems normal but that their machine actually doesn’t even measure the heartbeat! Strange but okay. I was just happy to see my baby and have a doc say everything was ok. Then Dr. Kurkjian starts in on the C-​section pressure. I’m a perfectly healthy woman, with a normal healthy fetus, no clinical indications for a c-​section AT ALL. Dr. Kurkjian was like a c-​section nazi. This woman would NOT let up. I mention that I am only 8 weeks, she didn’t stop. I mention that they are my local OB’s, but I may switch later, she doesn’t stop. I mention that the ACOG states that a woman should be alowed a trial of labor, and that my previos history of 3 vaginal birth, 1 low transverse c-​section, a VBAC, and almost 2 year between births should be PERFECT for another VBAC. This just ticked her off. She tells me no VBAC is safe. I counter that statistics show VBAC is in fact SAFER than a repeat c-​section. This only infuriates her further. At this point she is almost yelling as I just look at the floor wanting to leave. She tells me if I refuse a c-​section, she will make sure that none of the doctors in this practice see me. She was very angry. I don’t think I have ever seen a doctor so angry. Definatly would not want her near me in labor, or around my newborn. I scheduled my next appointment and mentioned to the front desk that I don’t ever want to see her again. The woman at the front desk just winked and said «I know what you mean.»
Next visit I was 13 weeks. I met Dr Calhoun. Much better than her partners. Calm, let me ask questions, and explained that that practice does not do VBACs. Washington Hospital does not «allow» VBACs. I could show up and it be «too late (baby falling out) …or flat out refuse a c-​section last minute… but I’d be better off delivering elsewhere.
Quite an issue for me as my 3 shortest labors were 20 minutes, 41 minutes, and 1 hour. But at least she wasn’t rude or yelling at me like Dr. Kurkjian.
At 15 weeks I called about a yeast infection. I’m allergic to Monistat. She said to take Lotrimin, which later the pharmacist said to NOT take because it is the same drug family and if you are allergic to Monistat, you’d be allergic to Lotrimin most of the time. So I was a little worried she didn’t think of that… but over all ok.
My next visit with her will be my last, I may even cancel, not sure yet. I’m switching to a midwife.
I would highly encourage this practice to:
1 — do not carelessly tell women their babies are dying.
2 — Just fire Dr. Kurkjian, she’s beyond help
3 — Deliver VBACs and pressure Washington Hospital to change their «policy» since it is NOT in the best interest of women or babies.
Remember your oath — First, Do no harm.
By denying women the right to birth, you are in fact harming them, and their babies.

I went to see Dr. Wong after a bad experience I had with another gynecologist. She is awesome! She gave me an ultrasound even though I am a bit early since she knew how much I wanted to make sure I hadn’t miscarried.
She then lead my husband and I to her office and gave us a ton of vitmains, paperwork with information about pregnancy, and two ultra sound pictures. She was one of the nicest people I’d ever met and didn’t talk down to us at all. She made us feel extremely comfortable.
Everyone that works in the office is super nice, too. They fit me for an appointment the next day even though they were incredibly booked. Everyone there gave us business cards and told us to call if we needed anything. We are so happy to have our first baby with such a caring and awesome group of people.
Again, Dr. Wong rocks!

Dr. Wong is very knowledgeable! Her diagnose is accurate and she does not make unnecessary procedure. I was told by my family doctor to have an biopsy done based on my pap results. But Dr. Wong reviewed the test reports and told me that I don’t need to. She explained that it is normal sometimes the pap results shows that way. I’ll go to her next time for well woman check-​up.
