if there was no stars I would definitely minus from these guys. what a horrible terrible place. Why is this place open, what the hick is this, anyway can open a dentist and not know what to do, I think there barbers, I’m still not sure.

Root canal was very fast and painless. Checking in gave me 20% discount. Everyone was friendly and helpful! I asked them about their poor Unilocal reviews and they said they got new ownership at the beginning of 2014.

Don’t go there they were so men to my 6 yer old daughter, recommend a specialist but couldn’t schedule the appointment until 3 months later. They are rude and don’t treat you children wit respect. Do not go there you better off finding somewhere else.

I got a referal to this dentist from 1−800-dentist, comments about that service at the end.
I went in for an annual check up. Getting an appoint was challenging because their computer system was down for more than a week (I guess they don’t know how to use an old fashion appointment book). When I got there they were very nice.
Once in the chair they took xrays (digial so quick and easy) then the dentist did the exam. She made lots of disparaging remarks about how bad it was i.e. loss of bone, severe gum issues and I might lose teeth. They sent me out to the front desk where I got the sales pitch.
They wouldn’t do a regular cleaning which would be covered by my insurance, I needed a deep cleaning not covered by my insurance but they will give me a deal. And I need this antibiotic treatment on 20 of my teeth, again not covered and again they will give me a deal. So $ 1800 out of pocket first off. Then I needed a couple of fillings that would be covered and a replacement crown that would not be covered, The crown was not compromised but a piece of the porcelain coating was chipped off (cosmetic). I told them it was too much money and I had to think about it. They said no worries we can sign you up for a credit card, no interest for 12 months. I have a credit card but I go apply to see what it looks like. I am approved and then I read the print on the interest. 12 months no interest, after that 26%. As I am filling out the credit card application online in another room I hear the office manager giving the exact same pitch to two other patients (they need deep cleanings, will get a deal). I left feeling like the whole process was a scam. When I got home I looked at reviews on Unilocal and google (which I should have done before going in but I figured the referal from 1−800-dentist was legit. This office has horrible reviews on both, complaint after complaint about my exact experience. So I decide to go to another dentist, one that has great reviews on Unilocal and google. They want my xrays (which are already paid for by my insurance). I called Brookvale, I have to come sign a release. I am ok with that but I have to pay them $ 35 for them to email my digital xrays to the other dental office.
So my advice stay away from Brookdale,
WRT 1−800-DENTIST: They sent me an email asking me to review the dentist they recommended. I clicked on the link, wrote my review and attempted to submit it but got an message in red that my review could not be added at this time. At that point I noticed that Brookvale had been in the 1−800-DENTIST system for 3 years and had zero reviews. I called1−800-DENTIST, told them I could not submit a review and was given another number to call which I did. I told them I could not post a review. They attempted to convince me that the review had been submitted but would be moderated first. I explained that it was clear the review had not been accepted at all. They gave me another number to call and warned me I would get a voice mail message but to leave my name and number.
So more advice stay away from 1−800-DENTIST
I went down to the office to request my records and xrays. They had me fill out a form and told me it would be 48 – 72 hours but didn’t ask for the $ 35 fee so I was pretty happy. 72+ hours went buy and the records were still not sent so I called again and was told the Office manager was out but they would leave a note. The next day I called again and was told the office manager was busy but that the reason the records had not been sent was because I had not paid the $ 35. I told them I had not been asked for it and that the law says they can only charge reasonable costs (copies, postage, office staff; all of which are specified amounts) and that since it was an email there were perhaps 5 minutes of office staff time, not $ 35 worth. I was told the office manager would call me but she never did so I called again and then again and even again. Finally I got an email with my xrays and a note from the office manager stating they were sending these as a courtesy but that the $ 35 fee was for releasing the records. I replied with a thank you and a suggestion they look up the law. So if your doctor or dentist want to charge you google it. Here is the info for CA
California — One copy of medical records must be provided free of charge to individuals who have appealed a denial of Medi-​Cal, SSI or SSDI and who are pro se or who are represented by a legal aid office. If the appeal is successful, the provider may then bill the patient for the records up to 25¢ per page plus reasonable clerical costs. This provision also applies if a claimant is represented by a private attorney who is not advancing costs. Free copies are not available if the claimant «is represented by a private attorney who is paying for the costs related to the patient’s appeal, pending the outcome of that appeal.» Health and Safety Code § 12 3110(d), (e) Effective January 1, 2002, modified 1÷12÷2009.

Just had a root canal done first time here and I am extremely impressed the staff was excellent the dentist Marshall (i think) excellent I will definitely change my insurance to this place! ! I give this place two thumbs up 5 stars love it!!!

Horrible service, over an hour wait time, they find things wrong that do not exist, get a second opinion, overcharge, say that things are not covered by insurance when they are covered. They overcharged me twice and I had to wait for over six months for the claim to be settled. Poor service, long wait time, overcharging and charging for non-​existent problems.

My review is specifically about Dr. Fan, the oral surgeon who comes to Brookvale once a month, and not about Brookvale as a whole. I went to Dr. Fan for a consultation on a tooth that needed pulling. He recommended IV sedation and I concurred. However, when the receiptionist told me it cost around $ 400 and wouldn’t be covered by my insurance, I decided to forgo the sedation and just have the local anaesthetic. To my surprise, Dr. Fan refused to do the procedure without IV sedation. I had told him during the consultation that I sometimes have problems with anxiety at the dentist’s, and his reasoning for refusing to do the procedure was this: it’s going to be a difficult procedure because there’s very little tooth above the gumline left, and you have a history of anxiety so sedation is required. I couldn’t believe this. I think I know when I need to be sedated and when I don’t. I’ve had 2 teeth pulled already, as well as my wisdoms, so I know what it’s like. I also know that my dental anxiety is mild enough for me to tolerate a difficult dental procedure (as I have many times). Dr. Fan has a paternalistic attitude and really shouldn’t make assumptions about his patients. Also, this is a blatant example of discrimination against people with disabilities (mental illness). I feel like suing. Very, very angry. Especially since it’s so hard to find oral surgeons in Fremont who take Blue Shield. I’m going to have to go to Milpitas to get the tooth pulled.

I agree with all the negative reviews. In 2011, I took my son and I agreed to procedures that were covered by my insurance. A procedure was done without my permission. Every procedure, I always ask about my co pay. And that woman behind the desk, I guess the medical biller or manager told me I do not have to pay anything. After 2 years, they sent me a bill. What a surprise… I am very disappointed. I reported it to the Better Business Bureau but nothing happened. Do not be a victim!!!

I was coming here for a while but every time i came they always took for ever && something i dislike is that every time i go i see a different dentist. I just wish i can stick with one good dentist. Wouldnt recomend this dental office

They only try to look for money instead of better treatment… terrible.

We were referred to Brookdale because the do root canal work. They make you pay for their consulting if it is needed but will still schedule the work following their finding. Problem I had was I was told twice that after the consultation they would discuss their findings and then could proceed. After an hour if waiting (parents not allowed to go back with children!) I asked again how long until the consultation … was told she would go check… right then my son walked out… root canal was done! Hello did I give permission to proceed? No… all seems ok with the work that was done but I was a bit upset … Sat next to a grandmother that brought her 5 year old granddaughter … she was not allowed to go back with her and then was told that the 5 year old was too afraid and had to be referred to a specialist … Gee I wonder why … She was alone???

WORST dentist ever! They make you wait so long to go in, and by the time i go in my son is so cranky that there is no way he is letting them touch his mouth. They overcharge also! The front desk girl, Angie, is strait RUDE! I will never go there again. The second time we went there, my son wasn’t cooperating, and they didn’t even give him a chance to try again. They are now trying to send me straight to a specialist that will put my son to sleep so they can fill his cavities and charge me an arm and a leg… NO THANKS

STAY AWAY from this place! We made a very bad choice on getting my mothers dentures here and not only did it cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ way to much. They quality was extremely poor, it took 12 months to stop the dentures from falling apart. Now 2 years later they are still falling apart. Staff was always confused about what was going on with patients follow ups. NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE!!!

I would like to give them «0» star. I strongly recommend NOT go with them. First, your scheduled time always does NOT count, you usually need to wait 1 hour. I did deep clean for 14 teeth, you know how long did it take? less than 10min! I guess you can image how the «DEEP CLEAN» is…

I came here for a routine cleaning and Dr. Fathi was very nice and gentle. There was plenty of parking spaces at this location, but my appointment was on a Friday so it was crowded inside. If they kept things on schedule I would of given them 4 stars instead. Also, no cavities for me!

Actually one star is too good to give to rate this office. I made an appointment for regular cleaning of my teeth. My first complaint was why is the girl snapping 27 shots of xray for a full mouth. My head have been zapped 27x for an xray per my visit. Then The dentist came in Dr. Huang (no longer working ther). But he said I had 4 cavities and refuse to give me regular cleaning because of the caviites.
So, I have left and did not agree with their cost for the deep cleaning and fillings. They refuse to accept my insuranse or discount me with my insurance, They wanted me to pay $ 1700 full price to fill my cavities and deep cleaning. I went home and checked w/​my insurance and they said deep cleaning was covered.
By the way he was hard on my mouth and I left home very painful with out a procedure done. His hands checking my mouth with a medal and it seems he wanted to loosen a tooth by pressing the sharp medal down the wisdom tooth and pulled it upward real hard. I felt my wisdom tooth pop out a bit or he was tring to cause a cavitie or make things worst for my mouth.
I made an appointment with another dental office and I took exams and she did regular cleaning with no problem at all and surprisingly I did not have any cavities as the dentist at Brookvale was saying (He was Lying)
It was just plaque that was removed during my regular cleaning and the new dentist said I had no cavities and sure enough my teeth were clean and Bright.
I think they were trying to sucker me of more money, to try to get me to pay for deep cleaning and cavities that were never there!

Horrible service. The doctors are great, but the accounts team are a huge cluster #**#. I have been overchanged an exorbitant amount of money and have been contesting this with them and the insurance company for 3 months now.
I would not go to this Dentist again. Until they approve their customer service, I recommend you look elsewhere.

Totally messed up on my fillings! I had a ton of work done with them (nearly $ 2k worth of work, including a cap and 7 fillings) after years of neglecting my teeth. i finally just went to another dentist last week who was not part of Brookvale, and he told me that they messed up on a filling behind my two front teeth, which is why you can see the composite between my two front teeth — which should NEVER happen. He also told me that it would cause a lot of damage later for me, because the filling was improperly done… this could even become a lawsuit if I wanted to take it that far. Another filling was also done improperly, which has caused me to have ANOTHER cavity on that tooth.
Needless to say, some of the doctors at Brookvale are good, and others are horrible… but it’s always a gamble when you go there… I am not sure I ever saw the same dentist twice! After all that work was done, I had seen many dentists at that site. I wish I knew the names of the ones who were good there, so I could name them for you.
Bottom line, save yourself the headache, and just go elsewhere for your dental needs.

Personally a bias I have to state – I shouldn’t send her to a place that is in a shopping center. It screams commercialism and they were pushing cosmetic services left and right (and the big money makers).
Unfortunately my personal bias prove to be true.
She had the first service and it was bad. They were delay in serving her and kept her waiting. What’s the point of making appointments if you can’t keep to it. There’s obviously emergencies but not as a standard norm of practice! Also, they were suppose to give her a cleaning and when she reminded them at the end, they did a rush job that was haphazard; she would’ve done better just simply flossing at home!
Finally we were overcharged. Luckily I was astute enough to check the insurance coverage. You should too. They should send you list of costs, what they paid, and a line that tells you in BOLD «What You Owe» (at least that’s what Cigna does). We over paid by about $ 70!
To be fair, when I went in they did go through the paperwork to reverse it. On the other hand, I wanted a copy of the refund request (after all I distrust mall-​operated professional servcies like this). The nice lady promised to get it to me in an hour. I came back like 1.5 hours after and she had to complete it on the spot (Couldn’t she have done it immediately when I was there instead of saying she’s busy – come back in 1 hour – and not to even do it???)

my first experience was GREAT. The staff were pleasant. Dr. Vuong was informative and she was gentle. Just so you time sensitive ppl out there: they don’t do cleaning for first time patients but just a check up. So then I had to schedule another appointment for a deep cleaning on my bottom teeth. Then my insurance doesn’t allow regular cleaning in the same day so I had to schedule another appointment for a regular cleaning. On my 3^rd visit I had to wait 1.5 hours for my cleaning that took o… 10 min!!!
good aspects: friendly staff. Dr. Vuong knows her stuff!
bad aspects: the freakin wait. My appt was at 4 and I got there at 4 and she didn’t get to me till 5:30. They either over book their slots or you just don’t get personal attention that you deserve.

I really don’t care how friendly the staff is anymore. The fact that this last time I waited 1 hour 50 min for my cleaning appt. says it all. I usually wait 45 min for my appt but the staff is friendly and I liked Dr. Vuong so I said okay I’ll stick w/​her. Well after waiting for over an hour they told me 15 more min. 20 min later they told me another 15 min then they asked me if I wanted to reschedule. I said I already wasted 1.5 hours here I am not going to take off work and waste another ½ a day for this. Yes they were apologetic but the fact that they didn’t offer me to reschedule until 1.5 hours later is ridiculous!!! I went in there they were already 4 people behind and they didn’t tell me right away. Even at 15 min per client that will be 1 hour at least. How can you NOT know?!
They have absolutely no respect for your time because they schedule 3 people at a time for the same time slot so your min wait is already at 45 min.
Yes you can go if you have a lot of time to waste. The staff is friendly and Dr. Vuong is great but their corporate environment is nothing to be desired.
