As you might expect, there’s pretty much always a pretty long wait for this place. Compared to the Boiling Point down in Irvine, I don’t think this one’s as good. The portions seem less, have less variety of ingredients for the same pot, and don’t seem to taste as good or match the quality of their southern California location.
The food here isn’t anything that’ll make you go «wow, this is amazing». It’s the kind of decent food where you just eat it silently and don’t really make any negative or positive comments about it.
For the price, I personally don’t think it’s really worth it. You’re paying more for the experience than the food, and even then, if you’re really craving personal Taiwanese hot pot, I’d recommend Tasty Pot on Story Road in San Jose. The wait is usually shorter, the food is the same (if not better), and, likewise, they offer free iced tea during lunch hours.
The soCal Boiling Point is probably worth frequently going to (or at least once in a while), but this one… yeah.
Oh yeah, I get that this place is targeting more of the younger audience (students mostly), but the super loud ratchet music they play literally makes the food on the table vibrate a little and you pretty much have to half-​yell to the people you’re sitting with in order to talk to them. I think they’re trying way too hard to give this like a «hip» club-​style atmosphere… LOL yeah ok

Went with the Taiwanese hot soup. It was good in taste, and pretty spicy, but nothing spectacular. The best part is that the pot comes with an assortment of meats and vegetables to give you plenty of variety. Definitely more than enough food for one sitting. My friend got the Thai pot and she wasn’t too impressed with hers.
Service was good. Restaurant is pretty crowded and loud on a regular weekday.

I went to see what the hype was all about after a 3hr hike up the mission peaks…
I’m sorry to say, but I don’t think it was worth the long line…
Like, I feel like I expected to be «super good», but the portion was VERY small… and it was pretty expensive for it.
Also, service was very slow, and they wouldnt even bring water
I got mild, but the soup was pretty spicy — for those who like spicy, I think it’s good. But those looking for mild, err… it was a little more than expected!
But a good thing, we got some green/​black tea for free. not really sure why. But free the better!
Regardless. I personally prefer the HIT or the flame… if you’re not all about the hype.
But you might wanna give it a try!

Came here during dinner around 6pm and did not get in to eat my boiling pot until 7:20pm. There is always and I mean ALWAYS a wait to eat boiling pot! This is a famous place in Taiwan for hot pot and word has it they are known for the broth.
Pros: Which ever pot that you order you get a good amount of meat in your pot. The vegetables are fresh and the broth is soo good. Customer service once you get in they are very nice. They come by often to refill your water and to check on your hot pot and ask if you want to turn the fire down. The staff are real tentative and nice. My waitress was named Cindy and she even bought me a chair for my purse. She was really nice.
Cons: The wait of course, but they can’t really do anything about that. The girl taking the number will say the wait is about 15 to 20 min, but be prepared to wait about 30 to 35 minutes.
The stinky tofu smell. Since I am from Taiwan the smell does not bother me at all. I had observe two caucasian walk in to get a number and then come right and said, «um No way!» I laughed because I knew it was from the stinky tofu smell. Stinky tofu is werid. It is stinky but once you eat the stinky tofu then it starts to smell good.
I would say that this is the best hot pot in the area and if I am in the mood for hot pot. I ordered the curry hot pot. I will be only going to Boiling Point! It is delicious and just the right amount. Price point is about $ 12 per pot. If you order the Japanese Miso it is $ 16 because it comes with a small crab and it is slightly bigger.

Been into hot pot lately and wanted to give this place a try.
No wait. Were seated immediately, surprisingly. From what I heard, this place used to be a super long wait, but I guess the hype died down over the year? I ordered #4 which was their beef hot soup. It came with a buncha things like beef, lettuce, different types of tofu, enoki mushrooms, imitation crab, vermicelli, etc. Got it mild spicy this time because I didn’t want my mouth to be in flames from the possible spicy level of 1000 like my last time at hot pot. Mild was a little spicy here… I can’t even imagine what medium would’ve been like.
I’m giving this a three stars only because I’m comparing it to Tasty Pot. First of all, for the same price at Tasty Pot, it seems like they give you a whole lot less. The vegetable to meat ratio was definitely off. Too much cabbage and two or three pieces of meat? Meh. The broth wasn’t as flavorful as Tasty Pot’s, but it was still good. And of course, the most important part… the iced green tea. Well, I had the option to choose between black and green, but I chose green since I wanted to compare it to the one at Tasty Pot which I LOVE so much. Unfortunately, the teas here were premade in sealed containers, so they were left out for a while which watered them down so it wasn’t THAT good. Tasty Pot green tea forever!
So if you ask me… Boiling Point or Tasty Pot, I’m gonna have to choose Tasty Pot for sure. I’m willing to give Boiling Point LA a chance though. Heard that one’s better!

I’ve been to Boiling Point in LA so many times and I was stoked when I found out they were opening a store in NorCal! I mean,… now I can finally get the Taiwanese stinky hot pot here: D I waited until the rush slows down to avoid the long line and finally got to try it out!
My friend and I came around 12:30pm on Friday. There was not wait but as soon as we got seated, customers filled up the whole restaurant. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the décor was creative and fun. I loved the vibe they provided, and of course, some M-​POP and T-​POP playing along.
I usually get Taiwanese Stinky Hot Pot, however I really wanted to try something else so I picked Lamb Hot Pot and ordered extra intestines and stinky tofu for us. My friend got Taiwanese Extreme Spicy Hot Pot. I kind of regret of getting extra intestines and stinky tofu because that was too much for us. Oh well…
I love lamb so I have no complains about my hot pot. I like that each hot gets different types of starch in there. The pot is definitely more than enough for me to finish all of it. For lunch combo, it comes with rice and a drink. I will say the price is affordable but not falling in the cheap zone — however I still think it is a good deal in South Bay.
Our servers were super friendly and very efficient. I’d love to come back (prob around the same slow hours) and try other pots!

This restaurant is relatively small compared to the other hot pot restaurants I go to. Due to the small location, the waiters work quick and tend to ask you multiple times if you’re finish with your meal.
I came on a Friday evening around 6:30PM with a party of 4 and there was no wait! However there was roughly 20+ people outside waiting for a table when I left an hour later.
I had the beef option tonight and in my opinion, they serve too much napa and insufficient meat and vermicelli. I’d probably try their fruit teas next time because the soup leaves you thirsty.
As the name suggests, the soup is served at boiling point. Every bite is very hot, but don’t hesitate to ask them to remove the fire. Just for safety, I wouldn’t recommend bring your children here if they’re jittery and unsettled. There’s not too much space and you have a pot of boiling soup in front of you!

Out of all the individual hot pot places I’ve been to, Boiling Point is my all time favorite. They have some really good sauces. The garlic soy sauce is my absolute favorite, I’ve tried the other sauces but I’m not big on the chili oil or the fermented tofu paste. Everytime we eat here, I’d kill half the jar of the garlic soy sauce, yeah it’s that yummy! If you really love the sauces here, you could also purchase bottles of them.
The stinky tofu here isn’t deep fried, which is a bummer because I truly believe that stinky tofu is only yummy when it’s deep fried! It’s only okay tasting. I suggest you skip it and just focus on your hot pot.
All of the hot pots I’ve gotten were tasty. I just wish that they gave you a bit more vermicelli and less cabbage. If you don’t like stinky tofu or pork’s blood, I don’t recommend the #1 because it has all those things. If you don’t like things too spicy, I also wouldn’t recommend the Taiwanese spicy hot pot. Also, if you’re not a big eater, make sure you’re not order the bigger pots.
Tip: Come here early or catch the late hours right before they close to avoid the line. and make sure to finish your drinks prior to coming here because they won’t let you have the drinks at your table.

Explosive! It’s not going to put a hole inside your stomach, but it’s gonna kill any bad build-​up that’s coating around it. If you got a runny nose, the soup will flush it all out (in an hour). If you have fatigue, this dynamite will wake you right up. If you got sexual dysfunction, this will get the tide to rise as well.
I remember the first time I ever had «Boiling Point» in East Los Angeles. I called them «Scorchers,» these Taiwanese Hot Pots. There are ten theme soups, such as Beef, Lamb, Korean Kimchi or Japanese Miso and in each pot is a wealth of ingredients. They serve fairly fast, but I’ve never taken less than sixty minutes to finish my pot. And I never really finish my pot since the portions seem limitless. Crab, fish cake, corn, beef, hot house tomatoes, shitaki mushrooms, and other items that aren’t for wimps.
You’re probably wondering what kind of person reads this review. It’s probably you, who has been outside for thirty minutes waiting for a table. Dang it, yo. If you don’t want to be waiting you got to get here earlier when it opens, definitely before 12 noon if you don’t want that wait. Haven’t you learned that by now?

I LOVE BOILING POINT.
In fact, when this place hadn’t opened yet, i casually checked when I was in the area to see if it had opened yet.
by the time it had happened, I realized the hype was realer than I imagined and I needed to wait for everyone to calm down.
it’s just as good as the ones in socal, except that they won’t substitute your side of rice with rice noodles. WHAT THE HECK? :(

Hot pot on a frigid night seemed like the best idea but that great idea quickly became a bad idea when having to have over an hour in the freezing cold.
Stinky tofu. If you have no idea what it is, I am warning you to not find out. It is the most foul smelling thing I’ve ever smelled and the entire restaurant smelled like this.
Once we got our table, our not so friendly server immediate approached us to ask for our order. When told we haven’t been here and asked for his recommendations, he recommended all 10 hot pot options on the menu. Mind you, you cannot I repeat can not modify or adjust the already preselected hot pot entrée options on the menu. You just can’t because they don’t do that.
The food was mediocre, nothing worth having to wait over an hour for, let’s be real, I probably wouldn’t wait even 30 minutes if I would have known the food was blah.
The concept of having individual servings of hot pot is amazing but there should be more options to create your own, the broth needs work and so does the service.

Fremont is full of Asians. Don’t be offended, I’m Asian lol… But coming with that comes super delicious restaurants that open up!
I came here around 6pm with a group of 8 on New Year’s Day and got seated within 40 minutes. Not bad at all.
First off… They make you wait outside and only outside. For whatever reason, but it’s freezing nearly 49 degrees and you’re gonna make me wait outside? Plus the policy is that if you miss the number, they don’t even call your cell phone or give any warnings. They just cross out your name and you’re back on the stupid list.
The service, very attentive and gets things in and out!
Now FEWDDDDD, I loved BP in SoCal. The NorCal one has less meat more veggies, and has plenty more sodium… I prefer SoCal. I won’t be back unless my friends agree to drive. Lol…

I came with my mom and fiancée on a Tuesday ten minutes before they opened and were the third party in line. Once we were seated the place quickly filled up. So plan ahead and arrive early to get seats.
We started off with an order of stinky tofu, they are still running a BOGO promo so it’s great value. The stinky tofu is not fried rather it seemed to have been boiled in a broth. They do have a hot pot with stinky tofu, so I am assuming it’s boiled in that broth. I prefer fried stinky tofu over boiled. The flavor was lighter, so it might be easier for noobs to try Boiling Point’s stinky tofu.
Now onto the hot pot! I ordered the Taiwanese spicy hot pot, my fiancée went with the Miso hot pot, my mom went with the Curry hot pot, and we ordered an additional Thai hot pot to share and try.
My Taiwanese Spicy hot pot was spectacular! The broth was all sorts of savory sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors. It comes with tender pieces of pig intestines, meat stuffed fish balls, ramen noodles, pork blood cakes, clams, mushrooms, cabbage, tofu, and beef slices. There were some reviews that complained about portions. I didn’t have a problem with our portions and was perfectly satisfied. Although this hot pot only comes in one spice level, it was not too spicy.
My mom and fiancée both really enjoyed their hot pots and the thai hot pot we all shared was delicious as well.
Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. They welcome everyone in by shouting «Welcome!» in Mandarin Chinese.
I might try to stop by again before I leave… mmmmmm

BP BP BP. The meaning all depends on your age and origin. Some might think blood pressure. Some might be down for beer pong. But if you know me well, you for sure will know I mean Boiling Point. Because, c’mon. I’ve been here supposedly 5 times already. It’s probably more because I forget to check in most of the time. But anyways, I admit I am an addict.
If you’re new to the BP hype, allow me to explain the gist of it. You order individual hot pot with your choice of flavored soup and cooked stuffings. Your pot comes on a little fire stove that keeps the soup boiling– hence BOILING point. Although, you might think of the temperature it takes for liquid to turn to gas if you’re a science nerd like me hahaha. Spend some time studying the menu because each pot comes with a different flavor of soup and different «stuffings.» For all the pots except taiwanese spicy, you can choose the spiciness level. My top 2 are beef and taiwanese spicy. If you can’t handle that burning feeling, don’t volunteer as a tribute to get taiwanese spicy. Because, trust me. Your ass will be shooting out fire the next day.
I really love their dipping sauces. It has a unique taste compared to its competitor sister stores. *cough* Y’all know the place I’m talking about, right? (well if you don’t, ignore this. Don’t worry about it).
For first timers, try to go for lunch. It’s a bit cheaper AND comes with green or black tea! WOW! What a deal! (I think you get less for lunch though so I’ve been recently going to dinner more often).
Since it’s hot pot season, prepare to spend some quality time with your smart phones because the wait is real! Especially for dinner rush time! Although, some people do get lucky going on some nights right after they just opened. It all maybe just depends on your luck.

Great customizable hotpot that won’t get your clothes smelly! RECOMMEND THEIR CURRY FISH BALL!!! COME EARLY TO GRAB SEATS!
FOOD: I got the curry fish ball ($ 13), which came with fish balls, a piece of corn, 1 egg, fake shrimp meat, pork meat, and an assortment of vegetables. I really liked the curry soup base, which was not too spicy. The hotpot is about 10in in diameter and comes on top of a stove top, which the servers will light the fuel in front of you. Each hotpot also comes with rice. I had no trouble finishing all of the soup and the rice. ALSO FREE SOUP REFILL!!!
PRICE: With tips and tax I paid ~$ 16 and I was happy with the quality and the quantity of the food, which was just enough to fill my hungry stomach but not too much.
SERVICE: The shop is VERY POPULAR. For dinner it opens at 5pm. We came around 4:40 pm and was first in line for tickets but within 5 minutes a hugeass long line already formed after us. Our food took a while to prepare — 15 – 20 minutes.
SETTING: This shop is located in a plaza with a bunch of other Asian restaurants and there is a big parking lot. The shop is pretty spacious, which is nice because you don’t want boiling hot hotpot soup splashing on you.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Creative way of hot-​potting. Will recommend for sure!

The short: very long wait for disappointing hot pot and odd service.
We (group of 5) waited two solid hours. Thankfully, the wait staff is quick and the food comes out pretty fast. The hot pot comes out on individual stoves (not shared), and then they light the stove. Whoa there. This just came out of the kitchen, right?. Shouldn’t it be hot already? Indeed, it was burn-​your-​tongue hot. Right after they set the orders down, we told them to put out the flames. Put it out!
I ordered the lamb hot pot. The pork blood rice cake was delicious and the lamb was okay. The soup has flavor, but there’s something about it that has competing flavors. And then… I noticed that I did not have the vermicelli noodles. Whoa, what’s hot pot without the noodles? I checked the menu and yes, it does have noodles. I asked a guy about the noodles and he said it doesn’t come with it. Uhhh… yeah… sure. Whatever, I’ll just finish it and dream of eating the noodles with the excessive napa cabbage.
Then, the bill came. Whoa. We did not order that drink and that dessert. What are you guys trying to do? Always check your bill!

Came by for an early dinner at 4:555 pm the other night and was able to be seated at 5 pm when they opened.
Started off with the spicy fermented tofu and it smelled like trash… nasty. …think it was spoiled?!?
Moved onto the Japanese miso hot pot and it was mediocre. The broth wasn’t super flavorful and the contents were rather light… a few pieces of thinly sliced pork, a raw egg etc.
The bowl of rice was challenging, part of the rice was hard and cold…

Prior to this, I’ve only been to the Seattle Boiling Point location. The Seattle location is much better.
Anyways, you get your own hot pot/​shabu here and you can pick the level of spiciness for your broth. Mild, Medium, Spicy, and FLAMING HOT (Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot is automatically flaming hot spicy and you can’t change the spiciness level for it).
I usually get the Taiwanese Spicy Hot Pot #8 with $ 1.50 add on of quail eggs. Other popular options are the beef and lamb hot pot.
It’s a lot bigger than the other sizes but you pay more for #8. It’s really spicy, so BEWARE! Every time I get this, I secretly kinda regret it because it’s actually really spicy. The broth is very flavorful, and they don’t skimp out on meat.
I don’t really like this location though because the ingredients didn’t seem very fresh and even my favorite (Hokkaido Milk Tea) here was really off. It tasted too powdery and over-​sweetened.

I can finally say I been to boiling point! (well here in NorCal. been to the one in SoCal) After trying this location, I think SoCal’s tastes a little better.
Hotpot for this time of year is perfect. I have tried the beef, lamb, seafood, and spicy taiwanese hot pot. My favorite is the beef! You can choose between rice or noodles as your side. Get the rice because the hot pots already have noodles haha.
When you come for lunch, you get a complimentary green tea! Pairs with the steaming hot pot!
The dipping sauces are also good too! If this place was closer to me, I would come here many times.

Came here at 6 and there was no wait! But right when I was seated, the dinner rush arrived and it was packed with people. This was my first hot pot experience so I was eager to eat!
I ordered the Taiwanese bowl and my order came out fairly quickly. What is really disappointing about boiling point is that the only level of spiciness for the Taiwanese bowl is super spicy. When I received my bowl, it was huge (bigger than the other bowls) and i was impressed with the amount of protein and mushroom it had… But sadly it was SO SPICY that it was painful to eat. I love spicy food but this was just too much. I couldn’t eat more than half my soup. I just don’t understand why you can’t customize the spiciness level. So warning: if you can’t handle EXTREME spiciness, do not order this bowl. Also the ramen didn’t taste very good, reminded me of instant noodles. The mango tea was pretty good though and the service was great.
