Avalon Fremont

My wife and I had the best stay at Avalon, Fremont, California for 6 years. What made our stay memorable was the Avalon team. Rosita is a very sweet and efficient manager and manages her team really well. Mae and Ivan are really friendly and helpful. They know everyone by name and go out of their way to make life easy and special for all residents.
The maintenance team is fantastic. Even the non-​emergency work usually gets attended to the same day if the request is made during work hours. Overall, we had a great stay while at Avalon.

After living at Avalon Fremont for the last 11 months, my boyfriend and I have decided to move to San Jose to slightly ease my commute to San Mateo. I can say that this review has 5 stars because of the leasing office staff alone! Mae and Ivan have been such a pleasure from day one, and are truly the best things about Avalon Fremont. The apartment itself definitely needs to be updated, but if you have the top floor there are vaulted ceilings, a gas range, in unit laundry, and 2 br/​2 bathrooms. Some of the tenants treat the trash area like the neighborhood dump, but that’s not Avalon’s fault, rather some of the occupants of the apartment complex. Sometimes people will park in the middle of the garages essentially blocking in all 8 cars or preventing you from getting in your garage (happened about 5 times to me). Overall, we had a great experience, and I would recommend if you’re looking for a place to live in Fremont.

We decided to chose different complex closer to the bart,
but we loved Avalon for its unique design of rooms, private garage and

Amazing apartment complex! I have lived in my fair share of apartments and I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed with this apartment complex.
Mae at the front office is one of the most amazing, caring, and responsive people that I’ve ever met. They are very attentive to your needs and having amazing follow through in all of your requests.
Yes, the rent may be slightly higher than other apartment complexes; however, for the service, luxury, and security that you are receiving– it is well worth it!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX TO EVERYONE!

I have lived here for quite some time and I have to say, the main reason is the fantastic team — Rosita, Ivan and Mae. They are all super friendly and super helpful. In addition, the maintenance team are excellent. They always do a fantastic job of repairs, and arrive when they say they will. The apartments them selves are spacious and represent good value in the Bay Area. Close to the Fremont hub with easy access to the South bay or the City. Really great place to live. Thumbs up from me!

I am sorry… I really wanted to give this property a high rating. We have been Avalon tenants for many years. From NY to Northern California — the experience has been consistently positive. Then we rented at Fremont Avalon and that all changed. Fremont Avalon looks the way it did when it was built more than 20 years ago — old, old, old. How did this property get left behind when all other properties were provided with renovations. The rent that is collected should have taken care of this a long time ago.
Then there is the issue of the grounds surrounding our unit. This is partly the neighbors and partly Avalon’s problem. People throw their garbage on the ground. There is no sense of accountability. I shake my head in disgust. Even worse, at these prices, where are the ground attendants that we have seen at other locations? We are paying for a service that doesn’t seem to materialize… Common on Avalon… Send a note to the tenants to pick up their SHIT!
We are remaining until we can buy a property in one year. But we are done with Avalon Fremont the moment we leave. The only positive experience with this property is Mae. She follows through. But WAKE UP AVALON!!! Mae can’t do everything herself. Where is the leadership? Take pride in your property!!!

This 5 star rating is strictly for Mae at the leasing office. She really knows what great customer service means. Although I didn’t end up renting at Avalon Fremont (detailed below), I really wish there were more folks like her everywhere. As mentioned by other people in previous reviews, she is on point with her follow-​ups. I paid a visit on Friday afternoon, and received a phone call from her on Monday morning to ask about my thoughts on the apartment. Keeping it brief, I explained that I just didn’t feel that it was the right fit for me. She asked if I could tell her why and I simply told her that it was because of how outdated it was. She even recommended other places for me to look into in the area. Here’s where I really felt bad saying no to her. My thoughts, «WHO ARE YOU AND WHERE DID YOU COME FROM? CAN I STAY WITH YOU?!!» If there was a tip jar for her service, I’d give her everything in my wallet.
She really was wonderful, but there were too many reasons why I knew I couldn’t live here. I decided against renting here because of various reasons:
1. Rent is too high for what you’re getting: I absolutely understand that they need to up the ante to compete with apartments in the surrounding area. However, the apartment was built in the 90’s and has never been renovated (Mae told me so). There’s a large chance you will get cupboards and appliances that are very outdated, plastic floor peeling in the bathroom, paint peeling off doors, broken wooden closet racks. The place looked like it was falling apart. I understand that they were in the transitioning stage of fixing things after the previous renters moved out, but I’m also talking about the floors in the hallways outside :(
2. Dark Hallways & Stair Cases: There was a building next to the pool area that she showed me. It was about 4pm and the first floor was so dark. There are lights on the wall next to the staircase that she said would light up once it was dark enough. It was dark enough for me to feel unsafe coming home from work should I have lived here.
3. Shared Garages: From the outside, the garages look completely separate; however, if you take a look when the garage is open, you’ll see that there are 4 cars that share the same space. Essentially they just have 4 doors for the same garage. At least if you get your window smashed, you’ll know it was one of the other 3 who could have done it :)

It is my 3 month anniversary with Avalon.
The most loving thing about Avalon is the staff working here. Can you believe every week, the first happiest thing of the day is to walk in the office to get my package? «Hey, we got lots of package for you today and your roommates :)» «How is your weekend trip?» I just cannot believe how Rosita, Mae, Ivan remember so much detail about me and other residents. Just last Sunday, I mentioned my friend’s food truck business in the office. People gave lots of suggestions and our mailman Larry even offered help to connect me to his friend’s food truck painting business.
The living environment here is great. Maintenance is prompt. Very few noise. Trash dump on the way to the parking place which ever direction you go.
The apartment structure is nice and unique. Three of our roommates have different styles of bedroom, bath room, and wardrobe. I love it.
The parking is sometime a problem if you have more than 2 cars after 9pm (you have a free spot and you can part outside your garage); otherwise, there are plenty of spots. They have additional paid-​parking (though I wish the fee could be lowered a little bit to increase usage).

After moving in here last year, I had doubts about paying high rent which might not be worth.
Till this day, the management and the maintenance has not given me one chance to complain about.
Rosita and Mae are great to work with! They know you by your names and apt. number which adds a feel of personalization.
The maintenance request usually get carried out within 24 hours and do a great job and are very friendly and nice.
The parking with a garage is something very rare to find since I owned a motorcycle and couldnt feel more secured.
The only flip side is the rent hike, which I think is as per the market. Would def. recommend making it your home.

My husband and I were apartment-​hunting nearly 8 months ago and we looked at a minimum of 6 properties. We had a few that we really liked in mind, but the overall experience with Avalon was by far the best. Ivan Molina greeted us and took us on a tour of the property. He was very likable, professional, and knowledgeable. He was able to answer any and all questions that we threw at him. If he didn’t know the answer, he made note of the inquiry and got back to me the same day via phone. My meeting with Ivan, and the fact that we both loved the property, was one of the final decision makers.
The rest of the staff have also been fantastic, both in the front office as well as in maintenance. The office staff learned our names immediately, and I felt very welcome right off the bat — even after we moved in (which is when people tend to show their «true» colors). 8 months later, the staff is still superb and extremely friendly.
I have submitted two maintenance requests since my residence at Avalon Fremont, and they were both attended to in the promised time, which I believe is anywhere within 24 – 48 hours. I believe both issues were taken care of the following day. I also appreciate the fact that the maintenance guys leave a note informing me of what service was performed, and approximately what time they were at the apartment.
When we first moved in, there were problems with the garage clickers. Ivan and the maintenance staff were very diligent in their efforts to rectify the problem. They certainly go above and beyond, though it’s not expected.
I highly recommend living here if you are a renter!

I am staying here from past one year and guess what it, has never let me down :) The response time for any maintenance is amazing :) I like the way they work, the management people are really nice and friendly. I have no cons to mention, as I am really happy about the community and the apartment. I would definitely recommend this community to all.

I have been living in this community for over 6 months now and don’t have a single complaint. Easing into this community has been very smooth and fun. Fremont is centrally located so travelling to various parts of the bay area has been convenient. I have added pros and cons below:
Pros: Beautiful community situated in the heart of Fremont and at a convenient location, close to Grocery shops, hair salons, Target, eateries and just 1.5 miles from BART. Love the community and the management. Management is very friendly and helpful, they go out of their way to help us out. The maintenance team is very prompt and get the work done (if any) within 1 business day.
Cons: The parking spots are less, so don’t return after 8 PM on a week day!
Also the finish in the house is a little bad so it looks like the house is old. Ask for a new apartment with new appliances, if possible.
I would definitely recommend this community to everyone.

I just had a phone call with them inquiring about 2×2 apartment. The lady I spoke with was really rushing and she was pushing me coming there and did not provide me with any useful information .all what she told me I was pretty much able to find it on the web site. I felt I was wasting my time. We were seriously considering the complex but not anymore after this phone call.
I am giving two stars anyway as I still think the community might have been working for us if they did care more for the potential residents.

I have been here little over 4 months now. My experience has been exceptional. Apartments are nice, lots of light and very apartment has a garage, which is a great plus. Office staff are exceptionally good especially Mae. She made my move from out of state such a breeze. I never expected it to go so well. Maintenance is also great. I had problems with my dryer and they replaced the dryer.

Lived here for 3.5 years in the same apartment. My stay here was very good to great. No place is perfect, but this was definitely the best I lived in – ever, and I’ve lived in several states around the country.
PROS:
The leasing office staff and maintenance people are very friendly and always did their best to work with me and be responsive. The pool is big and they clean it regularly and they gym and bbq area were newly renovated just a few years ago. The gym is great and has all you need, I used it almost daily. The location is close to BART and the bus line right there, shopping is close, 888 and 680 are short drives. Great location. I got lucky and had a second floor ‘end’ apartment with no one over me, so the noise was almost non-​existent inside. The staff does a great job on minor exterior renovations and even came in and changed out all the light bulbs to the energy efficient ones and installed CO2 sensors. The apartments are a little too expensive, but compared to others on the same street which get more expensive the further east you drive, this is a very good place for the money and the cheaper of the ‘newer’ places down the road.
CONS:
Since my apartment was near the pool there is occasional pool noise, especially on summer weekends — kids screaming and such. But I actually got used to it after awhile and it didn’t bother me much — kids are going to be kids. Sometimes non-​residents jump the pool fence after hours and talk LOUDLY as they sit in the jacuzzi. Which always amazed me, it’s surrounded by apartments, why don’t they realize everyone can see and hear them? Just stupid. So, I would call security and within 15 – 20 minutes they would come and kick them out. This didn’t happen all the time, but definitely at least 4 – 8 times a year. Also amazed me how no one else ever seemed to call security, if I didn’t call I doubt anyone would and these «townie» kids would just disturb everyone till the wee morning hours. It’s not like you have to go out and tell the intruders your called security, made no sense to me. Pacifist to the extreme. Lastly, since I was in my apartment for a long time the appliances were old, always wished they would offer a new dishwasher and stove. I had to stop using the dishwasher ‘cuz it didn’t clean well and was easier for me to hand wash.
Living in any apartment complex is hit or miss, if you have good neighbors and it’s quiet you love it. If you have horrible neighbors and live next to a constantly barking dog you hate it. There some barking dogs here and people who talk on their cell phone on their patio/​deck at 1AM or 7AM, but thankfully I didn’t have much interaction with them. Only once did some guys talk on their balcony past midnight, but the leasing office people were great about it and got them to stop quickly.
All in all I was very happy there and hated to leave, the staff is the best ever, but had to move back east for awhile. When I move back to Fremont, I hope to move back in if I can find a good apartment location.

Avalon is a wonderful place to live in and one of the best communities in Fremont.

I have to mention Mae who is wonderful and greets everybody with a big smile.
Community is well maintained and is safe. Awesome floor plans with huge ceilings and lots of windows.

I have been here for about 10 months and am very happy overall. It is a huge complex but yet its still very quiet and I hardly ever see anyone out and about, The front office staff is exceptional as is the maintenance. Mae is very prompt, pleasant and helpful. Anytime I need a repair it is taken care of immediately. Always courteous and professional.
I like the location I am in, near the back. Extra private, quiet and I have had zero issues in the time I have lived here. It is conveniently located to everything.
I’m very happy here and would definitely recommend this as a perfect location for an apartment in the bay area.

I like the place, location and atmosphere. However, we lost four hub cabs on our GMC Envoy last weekend that was parked on the community parking. It was unfortunate that we forgot to park it inside the garage! WIll be extra careful on what can be stolen in the area.

This is based on a tour only:
PJ was welcoming and the community was wonderful. Quiet and well cared for. The best fitness center I saw in the area.
All apartments come with 1 reserved spot in a 3 car garage. Not a gated community, but I «felt» the area was safe and would have felt comfortable going running near the complex (I am a young female, so this says a lot!).
The lofted apartments felt very large and welcoming.
The only drawback for us is that BART is about a 20 minute walk away. Kinda far for a daily commute.

I have been apartment hunting in Fremont for a while now and Avalon Fremont is my top choice right now. There are pros and cons for each apartment complex and I understand that you’re never really gonna have it all… but if so, it’s definitely gonna cost you. One of my least favorite things about Avalon Fremont is that you’re forced to live on the first floor if you want a 1bd. It’s really one of the biggest drawbacks for me cuz i prefer to be on the top floor. I also walked around and noticed that some screens on the first floor look like they have been tampered with.
Aside from the first floor issue, I have decided this is probably the best option (out of many) for me. One of the main reasons I have been drawn back to Avalon Fremont after looking at several other complexes, is the interaction I have had with Mae. Five stars for her customer service because she has been so welcoming, professional, and just easy-​going. Out of all the complexes I visited (both Mission Peaks, Presidio, Estates, etc), she has been the best leasing consultant I have talked to because she follows up and addresses any and all questions you have. I can’t tell you how many places follow up days after you e-​mail them and you have answered your own question.
