Mr Fence

Mr. Fence and Dan Sr. installed a fence at my home in Venezia Drive in Monroe, NJ, I selected Mr. Fence because they were the only company out of the 3 that I received quotes from who committed to doing our posts to certain depth, which was a strong criteria for my job. As a plus they were the lowest quote I received, but this was not the the reason I selected them for the job.
During the installation there were two issues i identified during the installation that I brought to Dan’s attention. He quickly remedied the issues with those installing the fence. 2 months now and no issues with the fence or the installation. Very happy with the job. I highly recommend doing business with this company as my experience has shown that they fully meet their commitments in a timely and professional manner. The installation team was extremely skilled and professional as well. They were very careful to meet my requirements for zoning and placement of the fence and were very careful to make a very minimal impact on the existing landscape. Job well done.
As a homeowner with any contractor (unless you plan to pay a very high premium) I recommend that 1) you get all the details of the job in writing and reviewed before the job starts and 2) you be on site to watch the installers and make sure they are doing the job you contracted them to do. I would not recommend with any contractor today that you trust for them to do the job right or give 110% if your not paying attention to the job details.

Here’s the thing about them. They don’t need you. They don’t care if you’re satisfied. They don’t hesitate to be nasty or curse constantly in front of your kids iwhile putting up your fence. Why? Because they are family owned, everyone has the same attitude and no one really has to answer to anyone else. Did they do a good job? Sure. Were they expensive? Very. Were they nice and looking to make sure you were satisfied and become a returning customer? No way.

I purchased a fence from another company and the warranty was gone so I decided to contacted Mr. Fence to give me an estimate on repairing a section that was broken. The guy came out gave me an estimate and had it repaired immediately. He was the nicest person and AnnMarie couldn’t have been more helpful. I would use Mr. Fence again and would recommend them!

Well Mr. Fence only gets worse. I warned them that if they did not respond to my complaint and make good on the garbage they provided me as a fence I would send a complaint to the BBB and Consumer affairs which is my right and so I did. Buyers beware. They not only lied on their response they actually fabricated a story that I was in their store acting belligerent on a Saturday (I am in classes on Saturdays) and that they asked me to leave. Not only is it not in my nature to act like an idiot in public but I would never create a scene in which I would make myself look bad. Additionally Dan Sr. trespassed on my property and claimed they offered me free pickets. How nice! The entire fence I paid for and stained which is falling down should be patched (by me) no less.
Here is their response to my complaint. They are calling the fence a Cedar Spruce there is no such thing it is either Cedar or Spruce. The very bad grammar is the exact response cut and pasted. Remember I never visited the store, they never offered me free pickets, I never got belligerent and I was never asked to leave. Last year before Thanksgiving I bought a section of pickets which I still have for about $ 99 to replace the rotted ones but the whole fence needs to be replaced. They also claim I gave 8 bad reviews of other stores, not true check my reiews.
Mr. Fence’s Response to the BBB inquiry:
Please see attached some photos and documents I felt necessary to add for your review in correspondence to my response to Customer’s Complaint.
Please be advised, That Mr Fence does not provide any warranties on any wood fences for the simple fact that wood is a substance of earth and that it requires care and maintenance from its owners. Not Spruce Cedar or pressure treated. Wood does have life expectancies, which should not be mistaken as warranties, it’s a timeframe in which you can expect your wood to last with proper care and maintenance and because of this reason most fence companies cannot and will not provide warranties. Id like to give somewhat of a timeline. Mr Fence installed a Spruce fence for CUSTOMER on June 29 2007 six years ago (see attached contract). Some time in June 2013. Customer came to the office on a Saturday being very loud and belligerent while other customers were present yelling that his fence is rotting and he wants it replaced. We asked him to calm down and asked some questions regarding his fence and then advised him that his fence was wood and that it wasn’t warranted. He became angry again and we had to ask him to leave. On June 29 2013 he sent us an email (attached for your review) reiterating what he wanted otherwise he was going to contact BBB and give bad ratings on line. I responded to his email also attached, and reminded him that his fence was not warranted however, I was willing to come to his house to see what was causing his concerns and give some advise. On July 1^st I phoned him and left a message and no response
Upon receipt of the BBB complaint, we phoned Customer again when we got no
response again Dan the owner went by his house and took photos of the fence. We again called him and left a message with some of the things we found that would be contributing to his fence issues aside from its age, Customer has his pickets rotting because of pickets being buried in dirt and rocks, he has a water pond up against the fence and not to mention his neighbors house and shed is loaded with mold and mildew. Also, we can’t be sure when the first time he stained his fence was and what products were used. Keeping in mind, that none of these factors affect Mr Fence because we do not warranty this fence but we are trying to help with his issues. Customer email response, which is also attached for your review clearly shows how Customer is not accepting of any faults or remedies other than the fact that he wants a free fence. His response to our comment about his neighbor’s house and shed loaded with mildew and mold was only that no one lives there to take care of it. The fact we was trying to make was that there is a lot of moisture in the area of his fence and the mold and rot and growth of mushrooms comes from the moisture which is why his fence is showing these signs its from its environment. We offered to provide him with some pickets but he was not accepting of them as you can see in his messages Once Customer advised us of his bad rating of our company on the internet. We went to take a look and wasn’t surprised to see he has some 8 pages of bad reviews that he has written of other businesses.
Mr Fence would like to also point out that Customer fence has been up through two very significant and major storms including sandy and it is still standing in good condition.
