Rancho Ponte is a family-​owned winery located in the heart of the Texas wine country. Our beautiful tasting room is next to a newly planted 5 acre vineyard. We specialize in exceptional blends such as our Meritage (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petite Verdot) and our Sorellin (Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Viognier and Muscat Canelli). History

Established in 2009.

Rancho Ponte is a small-​production family-​run winery with 5-​acres of vines, a beautiful tasting room and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Our wines have a passionate word-​of-​mouth following.

Rancho Ponte is the continuation of a family tradition of quality winemaking that began four generations ago in the Friuli region of Italy. We craft our wines in small batches by hand, using minimal handling methods. We concentrate on getting the very best fruit available and protecting that quality all the way to the glass.

We produce the kind of wine we like to drink on a daily basis with family and friends: fruit forward, interesting, unorthodox blends worth talking about at the table. We are a small, hands-​on operation but we are not new at this. We have been in the wine business working for and with others for many years but decided to take the plunge and start our own independent family-​operated winery.

Great live band. The tasting room is nice. Wines were not our favorite but atmosphere makes up for it. Nice close proximity to Luckenbach of you want to stop in there.

By far the best tasting wines but that is only the beginning. Very clean and relaxing atmosphere. Everyone and I mean everyone that works here is truly an expert that can explain the chemistry behind the wines. All staff obviously love their job and have a deep passion for this industry.

Became a member two months: after picking up my order and hanging out on Main Street I was pleased!
If your a red wine lover this is the place to go. The music on Saturday is a plus and you can bring a snack with your wine on the patio.
The owners are sweet and the staff are helpful.

This was our last stop of the day and what a great one. The building is just as adorable on the inside as it is on the outside. We were here close to closing time and weren’t made to feel rushed at all. All of the wines were enjoyable and I look forward to stopping in again.

We loved this little vineyard. We tasted six wines, and we liked all of them. They have a beautiful little patio. They were very informative about the wine, and wanted to help you get the most of your experience. It really was a nice experience.

Of all the wineries I visited in the area, I liked Rancho Ponte’s wines the best.

Many of the wines I tried at the other wineries were pretty sweet. Or, I just didn’t love any of them. But here — this place does it right.

The story goes that the winery-​guy (owner?) is originally from Italy. He ran a highly successful winery in California. When he retired, he moved here and started this place.

Anyhow, it’s a quaint little place with a nice tasting room. The wines were fantastic — decent cabs and pinots. Is that a word — pinots? Anyhow — wine good.

I bought more bottles here than from anywhere else. Definitely thumbs up from me — check it out if you’re in the area!

Had a really great time here last Monday. The Triple M blend is super tasty. My husband and I were regretting not bringing home a bottle. Oh well! That means we will be back– and soon. Thank you Trace, for the outstanding customer service and for taking the time to teach us «newbies» more about wine.

I enjoyed the reds at this vineyard more than any of the other places we visited on 290. Great color, aroma, and flavor. If available in stores, I would consistently seek this out.

This winery is located shortly off the main 290 road. The tasting room is spaciously located in a large modern barn like building. The owner continues a 5 generation family legacy of winemaking originating in Italy. They have grapes growing on site, but as my server was not yet up to speed on the wine making process utilized by the winery, I am not sure if they are utilizing only Texan grapes. They don’t follow the typical winemaking rules here, and have some very interesting blends, that you won’t find elsewhere. I tasted several, including their well known Triple M Blend (Merlot, Mourvedre and Muscat Canelli). Overall, I found the wine to be OK, definitely fruity, and fruit forward, but still maintained a light balance with some finish. What I did really like was their house made peach sangria. I don’t know if they make that all year round, but I would come back just for a glass of that. It was deliciously refreshing.

This was our second trip to Rancho Point! They have delicious wine. A must on the 290 wine trail. One of the best in Fredericksburg. They have a great fall peach sangria right now & the staff is super friendly. We bought a bottle of the rose. It was so refreshing & not overly sweet. We’ll def. be back.

Rancho Ponte has my favorite wine of anywhere in the Hill Country. About 3 blocks south of 290. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. This place reminds me of what some of the bigger vineyards were like 10 years ago when we started visiting wineries. It isn’t rushed at all. What makes it great is that it is so small, this also can probably make it crowded or hard if you are part of a huge group. I hope it stays exactly like it is and maintains it’s greatness!

The Traveling Winers on Texas Wine Trail
Rancho Ponte Vineyards, set among the various wineries on Wine Road 290, is a newer establishment. This year the vines are only 2 years old, hence they pull grapes from all over, even California. Rachel and Roberto Ponte are the owners. Rachel is a chef (yummm!) and Roberto comes from a long family history of wine makers, being a 5th generation vintner. Their flagship wine was the Sorrelline, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Riesling and Viognier. One of the hosts, Tres, made us laugh with his response to our question «How many cases per year do you produce?» He laughed and said «We make less wine than some of the larger wineries spill!» A bit of a commercial feel in the tasting room, selling many different items. Overall, it is absolutely worth a stop on your wine trail.

During a weekend trip we visited the wine tasting room at Rancho Ponte. The room was spacious and nicely appointed. Although they had a few items for sale, they didn’t make a big display of the extras. The focus was on the wine.
Tastings were 6 for $ 12. The pours were generous and the staff was very friendly. This particular Saturday was busy with a Wine Trail event. Although the bar was elbow to elbow, the staff knew exactly where we were in our tasting flight and did not waste time between tastings.
I really enjoyed our visit to Rancho Ponte. I wish we had bought a bottle or two, but it was our first stop of the day and didn’t want to over spend. We should have bought it anyway!

When we return to town, we’ll visit this winery again.

Located less than a mile off of 290. Nice, big tasting room. Tres was our «pourer.» He’s very personable and well-​versed in the wines RPV bottles and sells.
The tasting consists of 6 selections of reds or whites (or combo) for $ 12. A few personal highlights were the Sangiovese and the Bella Rose’ — that was surprising given that I’ve never cared much for Rose’. They’re definitely growing on me. RPV wines are a-​ok for Texas. They are fairly new vineyard so I can only assume their wines will improve over time.
They also make an in-​house sangria (not bottled of course) with fresh peaches in it that is super yummy and refreshing. Be sure to ask for a sample… or a glass.
Recommend making this a stop when on the Texas Wine trail.
Closes at 5pm on Sunday.

Took forever for the barista to acknowledge me, yet alone start a tasting. Once I started the tasting it was ok, but nothing phenomenal. I only tasted the 2010 CabSauv, Zinfandel and finished with the Bella Rose.
The Cab was still very young as evidenced by the unresolved tannins, def has the potential to age though.
Same for the Zin, but this one was a little more refined and had a much smoother finish was just a bit of spice.
The Bella Rose, a white merlot was surprisingly good for a rose! The watermelon and candied fruits were so prevalent, but in a very pleasurable way, probably my fav!
Though, I hear the white peach sangria is supposed to be delicious, but at $ 8/​glass, a little out of my Wildflower Wine Trail price range.
May stop by again if in the Fredericksburg area, but would not go out of my way.

I came back here again recently and I just wanted to reiterate how much I like this place over most of the wineries and vineyards in Fredericksburg. My wife and I went out with another couple to do something fun over the weekend and we went through 4 other places and really didn’t find anything we liked.
Then we came here, and just like last time, almost everything they had was good. We wound up buying 3 bottles of wine and probably spent more than we would have buying 3 equivalent bottles in a grocery store, but they’re local and it’s always more fun to taste and buy.
The Ranch Dog Red was my particular favorite with a really well balanced leathery, tobacco, tannin flavor to it. Next time I come out, I’m going to start here with a tasting and maybe an appetizer plate, followed by trying one or two other places and going back to cabin to drink a bottle of whatever red was best here.
