La Quinta Inn & Suites Fredericksburg

We got in really late the first night and checked in, wasn’t too bad. The older lady at the front desk was relatively nice and got us up to our room. The room was freezing when we entered! The air conditioning was on 65 and its February! The room was clean but needs some serious updating, felt like I was at my grandmas house. The beds were comfy as always for La Quinta but here’s where we had issues. The second night I called the front desk for 2 extra blankets and the front desk lady (Melissa) said we don’t have any extra blankets. To which I replied this is a hotel and you’re telling me you don’t have any extra blankets?! She was VERY rude and snotty! She put me on hold and came back to tell me if I wanted to come down stairs she may have some for me. We went downstairs to get the blankets and again she was very unprofessional. All we wanted were a few blankets sheesh!
The breakfast was ok but didn’t have many protein type options, other than that the fruit was fresh and the cereal was good.
I will say we will never come back to this hotel. Too many other options in Fredericksburg for the money!

People were nice, the facilities were all clean — but my conscience is aching pretty hard at the use of styrofoam for absolutely everything. Seriously?! It’s 2015. Get paper cups, at least. That stuff is evil, and it’s everywhere here. And perhaps reconsider having the TV (Fox News) inescapably on full blast in the dining area — it’s not exactly appetizing.

If i could rate less i would.
I recently stayed at the worst possible hotel i could stay at. The staff was unavailable and when they became available they were extremely unprofessional. My wife and i arrived around 8pm, there was no one at the front desk. We asked for help no one came. I called the hotel no less than 4 times without an answer. My wife knocked on the employee door hoping to stir someone up if they were asleep. An employee ran down the hall and pushed my wife out of the way without so much as a word. No excuse me, no sorry nothing. By this time it is near 830pm. We are finally getting checked in. She had a card that was a pre-​selected room for us. We went up to the room opened the door. There was a shotgun on the chair and a couple in underwear on the bed. We walked down and told the employee in the reception, she apologized and said not again. Then quietly we heard her say this was the third time. We were shocked. She gave us a new room which was right next to the previous one. When we got up to the room the keys did not work. So we had to have another awkward encounter with your «friendly staff. » By now it was nearly 845pm when we finally checked into our room. We finally were able to go out and get a meal. As we walked by the front desk on our way to dinner the employee says, «oh no what now?»

Pretty far out of town and not walkable to anything. You’re not going to get any Fredericksburg charm without hopping in the car and looking for parking. Fortunately it’s only a few minutes drive downtown.
Hotel is clean and well maintained. Our room type, King Suite, was two very large rooms, each with tv, free wifi, and the room had a decent bath — tub/​shower combo. Microwave, small fridge, it’s on the plain side you’d expect of a La Quinta, but really not a bad setup at all. Pretty pricy for a La Quinta, but in line with Fredericksburg standards. Pet friendly, but we didn’t see any pets or notice anything worn or negative from them allowing pets.
Best of all, the room stayed reasonably cold in the Texas heat, was dark, and the bed comfortable. Chromecast (for watching shows on tv via tablet) plugged right in, still too much of a rarity in hotel rooms.
Breakfast included and a step up from just bagels and cereal. Waffle bar, hot eggs (well, preformed patty thingys that appeared to have egg origins) that fit on the biscuits provided for a simple breakfast. Even some sausage gravy to smother the industrial biscuits. It’s not going to win awards, but I’m not complaining.
Virtually every other place in Fredericksburg goes two night minimum on weekends, so put this place on the list for short trips and late bookings. If you’re going to be a couple days and can book ahead, look around at the in town B&Bs instead.

We stay here because they allow small pets. So we could stay here with our dog. The hotel itself is decent. Nice clean rooms, comfortable beds, great pool and hot tub. Price is average for a hotel like this. We will be using la quinta again for sure.

CONS: I think that just some overall maintenance on this property would help a lot. Looking at the wall in front of the hotel shows rock that could definitely use some power washing! The walls and bottom of the bathroom door in our room could use some touch up and/​or re-​painting. Overall the property looks tired.
PROS Staff was very friendly and helpful (my husband left with both keys when I went out to walk the dogs. The maintenance man let me in).The bed was very comfortable and nicely appointed, which was great after a full day of winery hopping! We also appreciated the refrigerator and microwave in a cabinet in the room. And we especially liked that La Quintas are pet-​friendly with no additional charges!

Stayed at this motel for a girls weekend. There were six of us in two rooms. Decent enough though mini fridge never seemed to be cold enough. Breakfast was about what would be expected, pretty good. Then came time to check out. Left on a Sunday around 10:30, checkout at 11. The woman behind the counter started out nice asking how she could help us. We told her we’d like split each room three ways. She gave an obvious sigh, dropped her shoulders and gave an eye roll. Seriously! She went over to a calculator, punched in some numbers and came back over to us and said very unpleasantly, who wants to go first. Not a thank you to that person but then said, who’s next. And so on til we all paid. Never did get a thank you, thanks for staying or kiss my a**.
So Monday morning rolls around and we’re checking our accts and low and behold! Each of our cards were overcharged; some for the full price of the room, some for double what we should have been charged. And that is not what the receipts we were given reflected. The mgr was contacted, said she’d talk to the rude woman and correct the mistaken charges. Don’t know what happened to frannie frumpy pants but the overcharges were corrected. Still probably wouldn’t stay here again for the simple lack of customer service on checkout. And how hard is it to split a room?! We’ve done it all over the state and beyond for these weekends and have never had an issue. Disappointing because I had several conversations prior to arrival with different people at this motel and all were pleasant.

Clean and comfortable room with good beds. It was nice and quiet here. Friendly night checkin staff. Overall great visit. Very happy with the value for the room.

Clean, convenient, comfortable. What more do you want? Check in was fast and easy, and they didn’t gouge me for my dog (I’m looking at YOU, Marriott). Breakfast in the lobby, although plenty of places nearby. Slight mildew odor — but we are in the humid part of the state.

Had a great weekend is this vibrant German town that was made even better by our stay at the La Quinta. Lobby was clean and we were met with front desk smiles every time we entered. Rooms were also very clean and well maintained. Nice flat panel TV’s and granite in the bathroom and shower were surprising touches. Very comfortable beds with soft sheets that stayed tucked in. AC got the room plenty cool on a hot April day and it was easy to operate. Fresh fruit, make your own waffles and a great cup of coffee got our day of golf (for guys) and shopping (for girls) off to a good start. Would definitely stay again.

We have been staying in many different hotels, but lately LQ has been our choice, because we got a dog. I was nicely surprised with this hotel. When booking there were no single rooms available, but when checking in the front desk lady found us a very nice room. She was so nice to let us know for a good places to eat and enjoy music as well. Although It is on Main Street, the hotel is not on a walkable distance from downtown (or it is, but there are no sidewalks to walk on). Front desk gave us a taxi business card, which was charging $ 8 flat rate for downtown. I liked it there. Even though I would like to experience a real b&b this hotel provided all we need in a very nice manner!

The hotel was quaint. I had no issues whatsoever and would stay again if I am ever in Fredericksburg which I hope to be.

«VERY disappointing»
We stayed here one night while en route to another destination. We’ve stayed at LQ’s all over the country, primarily because of their pet friendly policy. This LQ, however, IS NOT pet friendly! Upon check-​in, they proceeded to charge us an extra fee — that was NEVER mentioned prior — for our dog and demanded that we sign a contract. We have never been charged extra for pets at any other LQ in the U.S. and will most definitely not ever stay here again.
The room was average, staff was rude, breakfast mediocre.
After leaving this place, we stayed for a week at the LQ in South Padre, a wonderful experience: no fees for pets and no contracts! Perhaps the Fredericksburg management should take a cue from their counterparts in South Texas.

We loved staying at the La Quinta. There was a nice pool, hot tub, fitness room, and breakfast. Our favorite part was the super comfy beds and great water pressure! You can also bring a dog or cat under 50 lbs. without a deposit. We will be back!
