Fredericksburg VA SPCA

My husband and I went to go «Look» at the dogs. Just looking. We own one shelter mix *bully breed* that is also a rescue from a different high kill shelter. However we were so pleased to find out they are a no kill shelter. Shocked! We couldn’t believe it! First of all is was so clean and the staff was fantastic from the front staff to the technicians who let us snuggle with a dog who we happened to adopt later that day. So anyways, we have two young children… they wanted us to do a meet and greet with our other dog and our kids of course we did. So we went home picked up the kids and our other four legged sweet dog to meet her new pal and they all hit it off. I’m writing this about a month later so I could get a true feel for how they treated him. He wasn’t there for long but he is so protective of our kids and plays and snuggles with our other dog mia. He really is a pleasure to have. We are so lucky to have completed our family. Thank you to everyone. You all are fantastic!

This place is excellent! I live in DC, and came here twice knowing it would be where I would find my perfect cat. And I did!
They have over 300 cats at this clean no-​kill facility, and it is set up in a way that makes it easy to quickly see how the cats respond to you. They had such a great selection, as opposed to the shelters we visited in DC, and the staff was incredibly sweet and accommodating. We knew the staff was really working hard to help find us a good match, and showed us good suggestions as we walked around.
On the second visit we found a very sweet little girl cat named Colette and surprisingly, we were able to take her home the following day since our application had been approved from the first visit. Moving her into our home was as easy as pie– we know that she is going to be as happy and sweet as was predicted by the staff of the SPCA.
I highly recommend the Fredericksburg SPCA if you are looking for a new pet, or looking for a worthwhile charity to give money or supplies.
