Specialties
By Appointment only. I specialize in an indulgent blend of Deep Tissue & Swedish Massage, with careful attention to areas that other therapists often overlook: deep stretching of legs and hips (your Piriformis will thank you!) shoulders, and Upper Traps, and Psoas release for lower back pain. I price my massage sessions to encourage the 90 minute option, as it gives me more time to do a more thorough job. I also offer Sports Massage for Runners (which helps with ANY sport that requires running, really.) See my site for specifics and rates.
In addition to Massage Therapy, separately, I offer Touch Therapy and Cuddle Therapy Sessions. Our culture is severely Touch Deprived, and that translates into some of the highest rates of Depression, Anxiety, and other mental (and physical) health problems in the world.
If you are curious about Touch and Cuddle Therapy, I have compiled extensive information about it on my website at www.EmbracePositiveTouch.com. I always welcome the opportunity to answer questions, too!
History
Established in 2013.
Embrace Positive Touch, LLC was born in 2013, but I was not able to offer any services until I had earned my Massage Certification in February 2015. My primary intention in opening Embrace was to offer Cuddling and a resource for Touch to the Touch Deprived in our community. However, I was pleased to find through the Massage Therapy Program at Northern Virginia Community College that I have a real talent for therapeutic massage, and it brings me great satisfaction to be able to ease suffering in others using my intuitive touch. As a some-time sufferer of Major Depressive and Anxiety Disorders myself, I find that both giving massage and cuddling sessions are as therapeutic for me as they are for my clients.
Meet the Business Owner
Donna P.
Business Owner
Hi, I’m Donna :) I taught Elementary school in Spotsylvania for 16
years, and retired due to Depression and Anxiety in 2011. I was
introduced to Cuddle parties and the Touch Positive movement in 2012,
and I found that Nurturing Touch was very effective in helping me manage
my stress levels, Anxiety, and Depression. I did a lot of research, and
learned that Touch Deprivation is a very real problem in our country,
and it contributes to many other health issues, too. My mission now is
to educate people about the importance of touch in their lives, and to
provide a resource for touch for those who don’t have one. If you have a
spouse or close family, how wonderful! But what if you didn’t? Everyone
needs touch, hugs, and cuddles, to some degree. Touch heals. Embrace it!
