this place ruined my daughters hair with really badly applied highlights that have large lines going across the middle of her head. kay, the stuio director,‘s only reply: well she did not say anything when she was checking out… then said well we dont know what she asked for… first of all she would not have asked for her hair to look like a badly done highlight with large chunks of hard lines across her head, but she did not ask for anything, i was there and did the talking requesting natural balayge applied highlights… and we got Horrible foils, to which i was told «its the same thing». do not go to this salon, they dont even have the decency to say” oh we are sorry you are not happy, bring her right in so we can fix it”

I went to this place yesterday (Friday) only because it is close by home and I wanted to give it a try because of other good reviews. I had to walk away with skin peeled off from Upper lip waxing! For a Upper lip wax service as expensive as 16 $, Bethany (the person who did the job) not only did not get all the hair out but some how managed to peel the skin in the upper lip area.
My skin in that area has been painfully burning since then. Not only is my weekend ruined, I can not go to my Dermatologist until Monday to know the extent of damage and treatment options for the mark this is going to leave.
Apart from the pain and a possible burnt mark, emotional distress and extra dermatologist expenses incurred is what my visit to this place cost me. I just hope that the pain and the mark fade away eventually. In the mean while I have to go to office, meet friends and do routine stuff with this mark on my upper lip area!
How can you guys be so careless? Do you think what happened to me is fair? Where’s your accountability? What can you guys do now to alleviate my suffering?

I started going to Thomas Scott Salon and Spa probably about 3 years ago. My hairdresser had just switched salons to work here and I followed her over. The establishment itself is clean, modern, and professional. Always courteous staff greeting you at the door, checking you in, and offering a comfortable waiting area with coffee and water.
Ruth has been my hairdresser for ~4 years now. I moved from out of state and luckily found her after only one bad experience elsewhere. Ruth is as professional as it gets and is very good at what she does. To top it off, she’s the nicest person you’ll ever meet and always a pleasure to see. Highly recommended!

I have been going to Thomas Scott for the past four years — religiously every five weeks for a facial and a massage. I have always had Rebekah and Suzanne. I have never been disappointed. Suzanne has magic hands and I swear she knows every muscle in the human body and can work out any and every hidden knits. I have been there with a migraine and she has done the reflexology pressure massage to make it go away. I absolutely adore her and would never ever go anywhere else or ‘cheat’ on her.
Rebekah has been my confidant and a great support for my skin care needs — she always has the best advise and always does a fabulous job of changing things according to my skin’s needs and changing seasons.
I love both of them and would highly recommend them.

Decided to give a second chance… booked an appointment online. When I got there I was informed they did not know about online booking and they could not help me. This place continues to disappoint me. That was the last try.

I called to make an appointment and explained that my hair has been badly over processed and damaged and I was terrified to cut length off but I needed to — badly. They were so sweet and told me they could fit me in within the next two days and would make me an appointment with Rachael S.
This woman is amazing. She is so incredibly sweet and took the time to really talk to me before and understand what I wanted. She then explained what she was going to do (cut it and dry it, if I wanted more off she would be happy to do another cut!). She took the time to explain all of the products she used on my hair and why they were important. Midway through I was talking to her about color and how I felt like I needed fresh highlights even though it had only been a month and I really did not want to damage my hair more. Instead of agreeing with me and making an appointment for pricey highlights she offered me a quick root treatment that was only twenty dollars. I asked when she could do it and she fit me in right then! So accommodating. She asked other stylists to help her out and had me taken care of even though she had another client. I really felt like a priority and my hair looks and feels absolutely beautiful.
I’ve never had a better salon experience. Great prices, great service, great result. Could not be happier!

I have had many excellent experiences with Andrew Fink. He is a stylist at the salon. I’ve always had confidence in his ability to make me happy and beautiful. He doesn’t just take the time to talk to me about what my vision is, but he also makes me feel comfortable and at ease. Loved my hair!!! I’ve done an ombré, highlighting, all over color, and lovely cuts with him. I would book an appointment as soon as you can. He will be your new go-​to stylist no doubt!!!

I moved to Frederick a year ago from VA, and it was so depressing leaving my hair stylist there. After trying several salons and not being satisfied, I finally
found Thomas Scott! It looks much bigger on the inside than it does on the outside. I only go there for my hair, but they also do massages/​mani pedis/​etc. I’ve seen 3 different hair stylists there and they were all great, but my favorite is my current stylist Ruth! She is incredibly honest (in a tactful way) and will let you know if she doesn’t think something will look good or be healthy for your hair. I took a pretty drastic change from blonde to brown and we spent a lot of time talking and making sure it was exactly what I wanted to do. She’s fun to talk to too which makes the chair conversation nice. She does a fabulous job and I am extremely happy with my color and cuts!!! I highly recommend!

Caiti has been cutting my hair for years now and I’ve never left disappointed. She listens to what I want, gives suggestions and always does a good job. I’ve always been greeted at the door with a friendly smile. Even the girls that wash your hair are always making sure you are comfortable. I’ve never had my nails done so I can’t comment on that but I have had numerous waxes here before also and always had professional service. Now wonder TSS has won best of Frederick several years!

I went to Thomas Scott for the first time with a gift certificate I had received a while ago. I have to say I was very underwhelmed with the salon and entire experience. I had a spa pedicure which included a paraffin dip. I do not think the service remotely warranted the $ 57 price that accompanied it. The salon itself is located in an older strip mall off of route 40 in Frederick. Nothing about the décor inside or out said high end to me which for $ 57 is what I expected. The woman who preformed my service was very personable and nice.
She informed me I had a tear on my big toe (almost looked like a dent you get on your fingernail when you hit it on something) so she put some sort of glue and almost paper like material on my toe which no longer then 6 hours later completely tore my toe nail nearly to the skin so that was painful and disappointing. I was also expecting a better foot/​calf massage for the price. Needless to say I still have money on my gift card so I will be thinking carefully of how I want to spend the remaining balance.
The customer service from my nail tech was great in the aspect that she was very nice and personable, the salon (sorry to say) but the nail side (only side I saw) was not very clean and almost looked run down. I will be coming back just to spend the gift card.

I also go to this salon and spa (in addition to the one I just reviewed) but mainly for the ‘salon’ aspect of it. I call out this place because my hair stylist, Alex, is AWESOME. He has skills that you would find in high end salons! He knows how to work his scissors.
I’ve had my nails done here a couple of times. It was an ok experience. Standard. I can’t really say the look of the nail side of things is great. I don’t know what their spa treatment rooms look like. The building and lay out isn’t the best and needs updating but they probably can’t really do much about that. It’s most likely a leased space and it is what it is. The interior decorating and the waiting area is getting better, though.
Anyhow, I’m giving this place 3 stars but calling out that Alex is definitely a 5-​star stylist! He’s the only reason why I come here.

I went here for about 8 years until my stylist moved to Texas. I’ve always had a really good experience, they’re reasonably priced and they consistently do a fantastic job.

I went for a pedicure and really enjoyed my technician and the service I received, but I when I went to use the restroom, I was very disappointed. Cracked soap dispenser, walls and sink were all chipped up and could have used a fresh coat of paint. Not very «spa» like at all. Truthfully, after using the restroom, I started to question the overall cleanliness of the facility and tools. This is in no way a reflection of the staff or technicians, but the lack of facility upkeep by management. For this reason, I would be hesitant to return for future services or to refer friends and family.

Elle is top notch!!! My nails are always gorgeous thanks to her attention to detail and penchant for perfection. Her calming demeanor always make my visits relaxing (although there is a clever wit if you care to listen). Her pedicure is to die for! Without doubt, Elle is the best I have ever visited.

I’ve been here multiple times since 1994. I must say that Rebekah is the best esthetician I have run across in all of my time needing one.
Brittany does great hair and they make you feel very welcome.

This is probably the best salon experience of my life. You have to go here. The staff is friendly and professional and the hair cut I received was top notch.

I had an amazing experience here! They took my appointment at the last second too! They pampered me and Becky gave me the best facial I have had. She started by soaking my feet in a tub with rose petals and gave me some delicious juice drink to sip on. The facial included a foot massage too!
The prices were not bad either.

Received a gift visit to get the «sports» manicure & pedicure; my first ever. I have to say I was very impressed with Cherry and Jordan — they took very good care of me and explained the whole process.
Atmosphere was relaxing and you don’t feel as if you’re in a big open room for all eyes/​ears to be in your business. Will return again & would recommend to others.
They are busy so plan ahead when scheduling your visit; they are closed on Sundays.

I love this establishment! The staff is extremely friendly and do their best to make you happy.
Denise (has been doing my hair for at least five years now, and does a fantastic job. The only time I’ve ever had a problem was when she was unexpectedly out for a time, and someone else did my highlights. I didn’t complain at the time, but the next time Denise saw me, she made it right!
There is a separate area for nail services and tucked between is an enclosed spa area. The way it is separated from the main salon, helps keep these areas quieter. Depending on what room you receive spa services in, the experience can be slightly noisy and distracting. If you mention it to your tech, they will do what they can to make it right.
For spa services, you are ushered to a separate waiting area/​relaxation room where you can begin to unwind. Before many of the services, your tech will show you a place to change into a spa robe, and bring you back to the relaxation room for a nice foot soak. Every time, I leave completely relaxed and refreshed.

Lovely waiting area, Friendly staff. Knowledgable stylists. A really nice cut and they didn’t make me feel bad about my lack of styling savy or my desire to not blow dry my hair.
Was new to the area and my stylist was great about suggesting places for me to try.
