Definitely a diamond in the rough. This little hole in the wall bar has some of the best beer and best food in the area, and maybe the best food I’ve had in a while! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Menu is limited, so far nothing bad. Lots of rare beer and even rarer liquors. Definitely a must try!

Great beer selection but poor service. My husband and I went in around 7pm on a Thursday night. They were not overly busy but we waited 10 minutes without being greeted by anyone. We decided to leave before being further frustrated.

This was an unexpected find. I had the blackened and glazed salmon. The glaze was a pomegranate reduction and served over southwestern quinoa salad. The pairing went very well together. I also chose sautéed Brussels sprouts as my side. They were so good, I could have just eaten those as a meal. If you live here in Fredrick or just passing through like I was, this is a must visit. They also have a great craft beer selection.

If you like craft beer give it a try. The selection is always good. Biggest challenge is parking but we have always found a spot, just be patient. Staff is knowledgeable and food is good. The menu is limited but we have always found something– good solid choices like crab dip, crab cakes, and the French Dip. Also great sides like Brussels Sprouts and potatoes. The burger choice rotates, some are too odd for me but my boyfriend is usually all over it whatever it is.

I went here a couple of weeks ago with friends after a hike. What a find! Menu had interesting selections-something for everyone and some healthier options. I loved the salmon salad. Salmon was tender and seasoned well. Great selection of craft beers. We had little samples of several. Will go back again.

Our 5th or 6th time there for dinner. Solid food — salmon is always fresh tasting. Moist yet cooked through. Smashed potatoes and brussel sprouts are great sides. Kids menu is a bargin($ 4). Beer selection is fun!

Fish and jerk chicken tacos always good. Best beer selection in Frederick hands down. Brussel sprouts with bacon and baked fries awesome. Burgers good too

I have been here several times now, and left happy each time. Fantastic selection of craft beers. If you like interesting flavorful beers, this is as good as it gets in the DC area. Prime rib is very good on weekends. I like a place that will mix 20oz prime rib and then have a vegetarian dish next. Prime rib sandwich is also good. Best burger in Frederick so far, and I’ve tried a few. This is a casual little pub with good beer and a small menu with good quality food. What’s not to like.

Honestly the best food we have had in Frederick. The Brussel sprouts are the best I have ever had. If you thought you didn’t like sprouts before try these. The quinoa salad is also one of my favorites. Try one of the desserts. You won’t be disappointed b

NOTICEALMOSTALLOFTHE5STARREVIEWSAREPEOPLEWITHONLY1 – 2REVIEWS? That seems questionable, but we went anyway. I’m not saying management is inflating their reviews, with fake accounts, but the disparity in experiences is striking. I ordered the prime rib which is only served on the weekends. It was overcooked. I asked for rare it was more like medium. My friend ordered the wild boar and mash. It under performed. Anyway buyer beware on this place. It looked like it had potential. I liked the inside and the beer selections. Food is a disaster.

Second shot at this place, and it’s apparently under new ownership. Menu was different than when we were in here last winter, but it doesn’t seemed to have changed. Went to go order duck bacon wontons, and asked if there was dairy in them, even though it wasn’t listed as an ingredient; and it contained dairy. So now we knew that we had to ask if dairy was in any other item that we wanted to order, since obviously, they don’t tell you everything. I ordered the jerk chicken tacos with chipotle red cabbage slaw. The tacos were good, and the red cabbage slaw was all carrots, red onion, and a few pathetic slices of not quite pickles but not cucumbers either. I was informed that they were out of the chipotle red cabbage slaw and instead they had something called viennese slaw, which was«nice with the crunch from the celery.» as I was informed by our server/bartender. «Nope, no celery.» «Oh, well it’s in there»…no, it really was not. Food wasn’t awful, it’s just nice to order something and get something, instead of having them switch it out on you, with no warning. Everything else they were out of had a black marker line right through it… Stadium pours on the beer, so no head whatsoever. Luckily it was an event week, so it wasn’t too expensive, but I highly doubt we’ll be going back again. And parking sucks, big time. If someone is a truck decides to stop behind the building and go up the back stairs, you’re kind of stuck.

This place has a fantastic beer selection. If it were convenient, I might stop by for a pint once a week. But I would never stay for dinner. The menu looks really interesting, and if you’re like me, the menu might excite you. But man, the food is awful. Not mediocre. Awful. Don’t order it. Go home and microwave yourself a can of soup, you’ll be happier.

TRYTHISPLACE. TRYITNOW. We finally tried this place after driving by it time after time. WOW. We had wings as an appetizer. Little different than traditional buffalo wings, but delicious. Juicy and crispy. My husband had the 20 oz Stout Cut prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes. I had one of the specials, the bistro surf & turf. 5 oz filet wrapped in jalapeño bacon, topped with a scallop, sitting on garlic mashed potatoes, served with broccolini. OMG. This was amazing. They have a constantly rotating selection of 20 craft beers on tap, as well as some different and interesting craft bottles and cans, and«training beers», like Miller/Coors/Bud. I like dark beers, so I had a Rogue Mocha Porter followed by a Boulder Shake Chocolate Porter(this is like chocolate milk with a little beer in it – WOW). My husband likes tripels – he had a Flying Fish Exit 4 Tripel and another Tripel I can’t recall. Dessert was one of their specials: «Ooops! All Berry Cheesecake». We were confused when it came out and looked very strange, with no visible berries. Two bites in I realized the reference – Captain Crunch Berry Crunch cereal! The crust was cereal, and the top was sprinkled with crushed cereal. Not entirely my cup of tea but so creative! Service was exceedingly friendly. Food was a tad slow to arrive but with a good beer to sip on we hardly noticed. The place is tiny, but didn’t feel crowded. We heard a server offer to take a couple dollars off someone else’s bill because they hasn’t been a fan of their beer. Despite the place being full on a Friday night, it wasn’t terribly loud. Dinner was not cheap, but four beers, two steaks and an appetizer merits a substantial bill. We will absolutely come back when we get a date night without the kids again(the whole place feels like bar seating, I wouldn’t recommend it for kids). So impressed, Roasthouse!

This place is always bringing us back for different reasons. The beer selection as noted is quite prolific and fun for any craft beer enthusiast to explore. The designated driver at the table won’t be disappointed either considering all the delicious food that’s coming out of this kitchen. I’ve never been disappointed with a meal and would recommend anything I’ve gotten here. Great cozy place for such comforting foods like crab dip, a good cheeseburger, wings and more. Awesome staff too, friendly and welcoming!

This place appears to be a dive that is trying to be upscale. The menu items are pricey and they don’t seem to have the proper glasses for the craft beers. I know. I am a snob. I am not sure what has changed here since my last visit. We tried to call to see what time the prime rib would be available on Saturday. Nobody answered the phone and we attempted to call twice. Anyway we arrived at 4 Pm and had some wings and beer so that we could put in an order for the prime rib at 5. The wings were cooked nicely. Juicy with a crisp skin and the fresh chicken flavor shined through. However, the creole rub was a very light dusting that was a bit on the salty side. The Blue cheese was very mayonnaise-y and I could barely detect blue cheese. It was served with baby carrots. They were okay. One had some brown spots. I feel like fresh sliced carrot sticks or celery is preferable. We ordered the largest cut prime rib medium rare. It is no longer a bone-in cut but, it was cooked perfectly, flavorful, and tender. However, the value was not there. At least 1⁄3 of the steak was a fat cap that we cut off. Don’t get me wrong, prime rib s generally a bit fatty. But 1⁄3 of the steak was inedible. The garlic mashed potatoes were divine. The Brussell sprouts were not as good as before. They did not seem to be slow roasted. They were slightly bitter from being cooked on a higher heat. The craft beer list is great. They 20 rotating taps. Our waitress did say that she was new and it was either inexperience, lack of training, or poor management. It seemed somewhat chaotic. There were two waitresses and a bar tender. Our waitress had to be tracked down so that we could order another beer and dinner. She was behind the bar washing glasses and talking to other customers. Then she disappeared. I am not sure if she was on break or that it was the end of her shift? The bar tender took over waiting on tables. I don’t understand why the waitresses were behind the bar washing glasses and socializing when they should be waiting tables. At the time it was not that busy to where a bar tender could not keep up with washing glasses, etc. This visit was not as impressive as the first.
