Keeney And Basford Funeral Home

Um, not a really appropriate rating description for THIS occasion (5 — star= «Woohoo! As good as it gets!») but felt really compelled to write a positive review on this place. We just wrapped up probably one of the hardest weeks in our lives with the passing of my father-​in-​law. In these trying times, you really appreciate an establishment like Keeney and Basford.
In addition to them doing all the basics– the coordination, the attentiveness, the compassionate demeanor, here is a specific list of the things they did for us that went above and beyond to earn the big FIVE STAR rating on Unilocal!
1. Prior to the date, Mark, our funeral director, always returned our phone calls quickly and answered all our questions, even after hours.
2. They helped us assemble over 100+ white ribbons for our guests to wear — we didn’t even ask them to
3. They helped us load and unload things from our cars which included cases of water, a electronic piano, and other heavy items, again with asking them to
4. They were completely prepared for anything we threw at them. We had a last minute pianist that needed to get set-​up, we had a slide show projector that needed a wire loom to prevent tripping that they came up with out of nowhere (again, little things).
5. They had plenty of staff… all of them soooo nice. They were helpful during and after the funeral… directing people from room to room
6. Somehow, they found us probably the only Chinese-​speaking minister in the nearby area (we didn’t request this, they just thought ahead for us!)
7. They offered to hand deliver all of our flowers back to our home in their van. Flowers arrived 30 minutes later.
8. Gave us a referral for a printer in the area who did a great job.
9. Did I mention the house is a historic landmark in Frederick and the venue is beautiful inside and very well kept.
According to their website, they are a family run and operated business and that makes a big difference in this industry. I can’t imagine getting stuck with a crappy funeral home in such a difficult time. They operate their business with a greater purpose in mind — at least that’s how we felt. A great group of people (thank you Mark, Krysten and everyone else that worked so hard for us today), loving hearts, thanks so much for being there in our time of need.
