obviously these folks didn’t stay long enough to see the true dynamic of this place. It is one of frederick s hot spots for dope heads and other sorts of low lifes to creep around and do their Shady business. on more than one occasion we had been approached by the druggie element there as though we were assumed to be there for the same thing. The occasional knock on our door from Law snforcement looking for someone reportedly staying there and believe me the presence of sheriff and police vehicles at the property are more than routine. Many mornings I can recall seeing someone being handcuffed and being put in a cruiser. This place is very active and not in a good way. The maid Staff is terrible… rude and nosy. They come in and dont respect your things and spray cleaning agents all over everything and use the same linens to clean with that will eventually be given to you as a laundered wash cloth. One had the nerve to argue and use profanity when we complained about her method of cleaning. The only counter person with any sort of professionalism is Craig. The others are very rude and off footing and seemingly oblivious to the activity here. Craig is the only one I have witnessed actively taking care of business in an upright manner.

This hotel was surprisingly AWESOME!!! The room was great, nicely appointed, the bed was super comfortable and the Front Desk Staff was decent, all except for Craig who was the best I’ve seen in a long time. I interacted with Craig when I first arrived and he was totally accommodating, told me where and where not to eat, how to get there and gave me advice for the area. Craig is a superstar and should be doing customer service and training others how to do it RIGHT!!! I know I am speaking to the choir, but we all know that customer service is a dying art. It’s good to know that it has not to ally died. Granted this hotel is not the Four Seasons, but you get a whole lot more than you are paying for. I highly recommend if you are in the area, give this Econo Lodge a try.

My family and I just got back from spending 5 nights here. For what it was (an ECONOlodge, not the Waldorf-​Astoria) we were extremely pleased. The rooms were clean, comfortable and in good repair. The mattresses and pillows were very comfortable. All linens and towels were crisp, clean and white. The room was odor-​free and the AC was a late model with a remote and worked well. Our kitchenette was adequate and stocked w plates and utensils. The bathroom was updated w an adjustable shower head and fresh clean curtain. The furniture fabric and rugs were all clean and intact. There was nothing glaring about the room which made me feel less than good about the place. The room was not über-​modern, but not terribly outdated, either.
The best thing to me was the prompt and friendly service from all staff departments. The people at the desk were personable (most people in customer service will respond favorably if you are kind and respectful to them first, FYI) and the housekeepers greeted us with «hello“s in passing. Housekeeping was wonderful and arrived early and promptly every day (something that we’ve had skipped on us in more «affluent» hotels in the past.) Housekeeping kept up w real surface cleaning and sanitizing too, not just quickie vacuuming and bed-​making like we’ve had in many places. Our server at their little restaurant downstairs was prompt, friendly and knowledgable (which reminds me, I need to write a great review on that gem of a place also. The food was well-​prepared and at a fair price). When my daughter pulled the shower pull off the spigot, we called maintenance and they came immediately, and had it all fixed within the hour.
Was the place perfect? Of course not, but compared to other budget hotels, it gets my 5 stars. Things people would probably complain about would be the fluctuating temperature of the showers, the iffy Wifi, dated décor in the hallways, and of course the behavior of other guests (young drunk guys screaming on their balcony, people leaving their sandy shoes and beach stuff in the hallway, limited parking accentuated by SUVs taking up more than one spot), but overall my expectations were highly exceeded.
Also a huge plus was its location– very close to the beach and in walking distance of several good eating establishments, mini-​golf, and shopping. As an added bonus, the DE-​MD state line is a few feet away from the hotel and my kids got a kick out of jumping back and forth in and out of state.
I would definitely stay here again, the place delivered a lot of bang for the buck. Thanks for a great week!

Do not stay here. Feces and hair on the «clean» towels and very nasty desk help.

This might be the greatest bar on earth. It’s a.) next to the ocean, b.) has a pool and c.) serves booze. If I lived in O.C., I would no doubt drink myself to death there. I like it that much. Though not a «local» I have found that this is where the locals hang. It’s also where my parents often stayed for the comfort and convenience factor. Book way ahead of time because it’s not a gigantic place, but it certainly has soul — a rare quality these days.
Oh and for the reviewer bitching about the wifi not working… you are at the BEACH. Go out and enjoy yourself and lay off the facebook for a day or two.

I haven’t stayed here yet BUT they were very courteous and helpful on the phone and gave me no hassles when I had to last minute cancel my plans due to circumstances I couldn’t change! I am SO pleased with their customer service!

I was so impressed with this Econolodge — it wasn’t that expensive and the rooms were HUGE! They had full kitchens and a little lounge area, patio, and a divider in case you wanted to turn it into two rooms. Great for groups. It was only a two block walk from the beach.
The décor/​look of the hotel itself isn’t that nice but we weren’t really expecting a beautiful place. Elevators were SUPER slow. But those minor issues aren’t a bother at all since the rooms were so nice. Oh, and the rooms were also very clean.
One thing that I’m not sure how much the hotel can do about: nasty little kids like to stand on the balconies of their hotel rooms and throw things at the people/​cars below them. We stayed here for ONE night and we saw two/​three different incidents of this. Maybe the hotel should threaten parents that if their kids are caught throwing things off the balcony that they will be kicked out of the hotel and not be refunded. That should at least make parents be more vigilant about what their kids are doing out on the balconies. I think it is dangerous to throw things at moving vehicles and don’t enjoy being hit in the head with coins or pebbles while I’m loading the car.
Other than that, I really liked this hotel and would DEFINITELY stay here again. Very pleasant overall experience.

You get what you pay for… It’s really true. Although you have to expect that it being so close in proximity to the beach, your room will smell somewhat like the sand-​n-​ocean. We got a nice room with 2 Queen size beds. A small 4 burner, Electric stove, microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was a nice size and had a the heated drying temperature gauge. I liked that we had a sun partition separating the kitchenette table and tiny balcony. It outlooks to Coastal Hwy and the breaching ocean less than a football field away. There is about a 32″ flat-​screen, a couch and plenty of lighting. I thought it was a fair deal, fair price for last minute. It was during the memorial Day weekend. The little café downstairs next to the pool is amazing. The food is so good! At night you can chill out by the bar with the rest of the patrons and beach goers.

It’s an Econolodge, but that doesn’t mean it has to suck. The rooms were clean, which was nice, but the beds were really, really uncomfortable. Think sofa beds, except they were actually real beds. The décor looked cheap, which was to be expected. My two biggest complaints:
1. The front desk agent told me I was in one of the very few rooms where the WiFi didn’t work.
2. The entire place smelled like smoke.
I’ll head to the Holiday Inn Express whenever I need beach accommodations in the Fenwick Island area.

I didn’t actually stay here so I can’t rate the hotel itself, but I had to cancel my reservation because of the Hurricane Irene evacuation.
I just had to comment on the awesomeness of the costumer service. The receptionist let me keep one night out of my three-​night reservation, and when I called to cancel that on the day of check-​in (only because they weren’t there to pick up the phone all weekend), she canceled it with no questions asked. She also refunded the entire deposit I put down, which isn’t part of the hotel’s non-​hurricane-​related cancellation policy.
Anyway, she was incredibly nice on the phone the entire time and I figured that plus everything above deserved a shout-​out.

It’s an Econo Lodge — it’s going to be basically what you expect. Two things I didn’t expect, though, that made me really happy: The rooms were pretty clean. No hairs, stained sheets/​towels, or bugs. The other thing was the pull-​out sofa bed. You can comfortably cram six people into the rooms that have two queen beds in them. It’s also on the same side as the beach, so you don’t have to play Frogger and cross the highway.
It’s a bit far down the line, away from the boardwalk and JUST at the Delaware border. However, the bus station is a block away, and you can buy a day pass for the bus for $ 2. The bus comes regularly enough to get you around if you plan on boozing it up, so it’s worth the money saved to stay here even if it’s a little bit away from the whole scene.
