We are passionate, green minded company specialized in creating spectacular ice sculptures and ice sculpting performances for every type of event. We use state of the art CNC technology along with the most advanced ice carving techniques with chainsaws, chisels and any other tool we can get our hands on. Family owned and operated by Max and Jeanne Zuleta.

History

Established in 1991.

Max Zuleta founded Esculturas en hielo Arte Bajo cero in 1991 in Caracas, Venezuela, he then joined the amazing talent and creativity of Jeanne Koivunen, both relocated to the Chicago — Milwaukee corridor in 2001 while free lancing all over Europe, USA and Canada for 3 years, they then opened Art Below Zero in Zion, IL. The need for more space for more advanced techniques allowed them to relocate to an incredible space in Franksville, Wisconsin, this strategic location allows them to service Milwaukee, Chicago and Lake Geneva for ice sculptures and the rest of the globe for ice sculpting performances with Ice Beat Factory.

Business Owner

Max Zuleta (Zice)

Self taught, originally from Caracas, Venezuela where he opened and successfully operated the first ice sculpting company in the country from 1989 until 2001. In the pursuit of not being the only one but one of the best in the world, he and his partner Jeanne Koivunen-​Zuleta then spent 3 years traveling, sculpting ice, developing an artistic & edgy ice sculpting technique & sharing experiences & ideas with master sculptors all over Europe, Canada, South America and USA.



When the time presented itself, in 2004, «Art Below Zero Inc» was founded in Zion, Illinois.

Since then, the company has been serving not only the Chicago-​Milwaukee corridor, but Max, stage name «Zice» has performed in Hong Kong, Kuwait and has obtained several prestigious awards, including at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics, 1st place at Winterlude in Ottawa (Canada) and at the Ice Hotel in Quebec, not to mention, many others.
