History

Established in 2001.

Red Dog’s owner Bard Quillman opened Red Dog in 2001. He’s a long standing, active member of the Franklin community and became frustrated with the lack of Single Malt Scotch selection and unintimidating wine shops in the area with more selection and an emphasis on value. Red Dog was born of his passion for making Franklin a better place to live and providing more wine and spirit options in a friendly comfortable setting.

Meet the Business Owner

Bard Q.

Business Owner

Bard moved to Tennessee in 1969 to attend Vanderbilt where he met his Nashville Native wife, Nancy. They married in school and upon graduation, he became a banker in Nashville. Banking brought him to Franklin in 1979 where we’ve lived ever since. He raised two girls in downtown Franklin who went to Battle Ground Academy and Vanderbilt.

Bard & his wife have been active with The Heritage Foundation since we moved to Franklin in the 1979. Things have changed a lot downtown and we are proud to have helped a little along the way. I’ve incorporated our support of downtown Franklin into Red Dog’s business model since day one. We sponsor the annual Heritage Ball, are involved in the summer concert series, and are very proud to be working on wine and spirits planning for The Franklin Theater.

His pasion for Single Malt Scotch and food and wine pairing led him to leave banking and open Red Dog Wine & Spirits. An avid dog lover, the name Red Dog was born of his companion, Chipper the Red Dog
