Only been here once, and I may never make it again, but I loved it. It’s hidden behind the main strip of downtown Franklin in an authentically old building. Inside is gorgeous: rough concrete on the floors, real bricks in the walls, flags tacked to the ceiling. By day it’s a hip coffee shop, with good coffee and fresh baked stuff, including stuffed baked sandwiches I’m still sorry I missed trying. By night, they say, it’s a cool bar with good beer on tap and live music. I’d be a regular here if I lived in Franklin.

Barista was VERY friendly and helpful. we ordered up two homemade cherry cokes and one root beer float. Truth be told, we came for the wifi and didn’t expect much — but once we arrived, I knew this was a cool place with great ambiance and clearly a dedicated local following. the décor is kitsch.

Neat little place, no question. Part bar, part coffee shop. The guy behind the counter was really friendly and knows how to make a legit Cubano, so that already gets major points in my book!

Cool pub/coffee/eatery. Healthy food, good beer on tap, great coffee drinks, and milkshakes. Great fresh baked turnoversfor lunch. I like the spinach, mushroom, provalone turnover. The food menu is limited if your looking many options. Super friendly owners, very helpful with local info. Located behind mainstreet, take the alley downhill. There is a small sign on mid-mainstreet pointing to the alley.

This is the best place in Franklin to hang out over a few drinks or coffee. The atmosphere is lots of fun and welcoming, and the food is great too! I go here every time I come into town.

The owners Adam and Natasha are very warm and inviting people that want to make your experience pleasant. I go there to listen to music and sip on lattes or hot chocolates. They do have a rotating micro brew draft beer selection too. Highly recommended!

Know of any other place with a library that includes a Star Wars guide to computers and robots? This place is awesome! Great beer, incredible house made calzone type sandwiches and specialty coffee options. The local staff is friendly and easy going. Look up the name of the place to learn a little about the origin of the establishment. Apparently they have good local musicians that play there often too. I came early in the day so I didn’t hear anything for myself though. A small town gem for sure either way! Just don’t come if you want an enormous meal or lots of lunch options. It’s just not that type of place and it was never meant to be.

Hard to find if you aren’t a local but quite a gem for a Friday night! Great local vibe. Workers are very friendly and helpful. I would also recommend the warm sandwich with spinach, mushroom and tomato. Yummmm! I don’t know if the beer set up is always the same but there are three beers on tap and I believe they always rotate, which is awesome, even the locals were asking what’s on tap tonight. And if you are a local for long enough you get your very own personal glass that they have on a shelf(really cool to see). More than just the good sandwich and drinks they also had a live local band. Who were really great too! Just laid back music. Two guys playing classic guitar(I was actually surprised they didn’t have a cd!!). If you are in Franklin or just passing through I would 100% recommend this place. It’s a great chance to get a local vibe and get to know the city more. One note… It does not stay open late on week nights.

Very chill place with coffee beer and wine. If you are on Main St look for the sign hanging above the sidewalk, just past the outfitters. Walk between the buildings to get to the shop on the back side of the building.

Went to Rathskeller with a group of friends. They all got beers and food, but I had just eaten and was tagging along. Staff told me if I wasn’t going to order anything I had to leave. Embarrassing. I waited outside for the rest of my party, even though the restaurant was virtually empty with the exception of my group. Will never go back.

Quaint and relaxed, a really great place to stop in and get a bite to eat. Limited menu, but what they have is delicious. Extremely friendly service, I felt welcome the moment I stepped in. Live music Friday and Saturday nights with tasty drinks on tap.

Great place to get a beer in Franklin. Has coffee, lots of local pennants on the wall from local colleges… not a bad place. I’ll go back.

Small little cozy hole in the wall place. The coffee is not all that. It is more of a bar than a «coffee haus.» I guess downtown Franklin is not a happening place since we were there on a Friday night and it was half-empty. Their main street was a desert on a Friday night. I guess they are trying to be a Gastropub but their idea of food is Dandy sandwiches and two kinds of beer.

Two of us walked in the door at 5:30 on a Friday evening for a couple of wines and we were appoached by someone who said there is a $ 5 cover per person. No explanation or any other response so we left!

For Franklin, this place is a gem(you’ll get that if you visit the town)! Rathskeller is a bar/coffee shop/café/music venue behind the main street of Franklin, NC. They don’t open until 11am, so don’t expect to get your early morning brew, but they’re open through the night to accommodate local performers, town folk, and tourists. They serve sandwiches at lunch(not sure about dinner food), and they have some great coffee and beer. They only had 2 brews on tap when I was there(both German) and they were ICE cold! The owners/staff are friendly, there are board games in the back, and free wifi. What more can you ask for?
