History

Established in 2008.

Although Journey Church was offically started in, 2008 by Jim Clayton along with his wife, Jodi, the original idea and preparation started several years earlier. While attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Jim felt called in the direction of church «planting» (starting a church from scratch). After considering various areas in Illinois and Indiana, it became clear that God was leading them to the Franklin area. They decided to move to Franklin, where they would start a church specifically for people who don’t go to church. Jim and Jodi sold their house in Illinois and moved to Franklin in June, 2008. (They closed on their house in Franklin on June 6, the day before the big flood.) They began networking and building relationships with people while conducting research in the area to determine «unchurched» people’s needs and what they would look for in a church. This information will be incorporated into the design and development of Journey Church.
